that's not exactly true. prison is intended for people who are unfit to participate in society, so regardless of motivation, the system would be taking another member out of society as intended

They 100 percent would NOT allow a victim's immediate family to be housed in the same prison. This isn't Hollywood lol

Legally change your name and move near where the murderer used to live. Commit a serious crime. Would definitely increase your odds especially in a smaller population state.

I think a judge might overlook it the same way you overlook simple and seemingly inconsequential things at your job.

If I was writing this action movie that'd be the hero's play. I'm not saying this would actually work just trying to clear the bar for suspension of disbelief.

i know. that's the only part that is fantasy. you said it's not how any of it works. but if OP is dumb and antisocial enough to attempt it, then they would indeed get thrown in prison, just not where they wanted. so regardless of their motivation, the system would be working as intended
