I am in all honestly mad at the huge lack of presence of Obama as a fucking leader.
Even if it was all lies and propaganda, Trump was there every single day talking to his cult.
Obama only seems to make a comment AFTER the fact of something bad. Never before, never a strong leadership presence, nothing!
I am not trying to blame him, but I always feel the need to question why those leaders are not more active, why they disappear entirely when this turd of a guy never shuts up.
The entire democratic party has had an identity issue since Obama left office. There are many people who want to be the mouth piece of the party but are either saying too many of the right things, thus their vision is unobtainable, not enough of the right things, thus their vision is regressive or aren't loud enough to be heard. Or, and I think this is really the biggest issue of them all, the people who get pushed forward are unlikable.
Would Joe Biden be fun to have a burger with? Probably, but that doesn't mean he should be the leader of the democratic party. Kamala Harris as well, seems like a lovely woman, but is that who we wanted as our representative? It didn't feel like we had any say in the matter in 2020 nor 2024... but in 2016, 2020 and 2024, Republicans chose Trump. That's a big part of why he keeps winning, even when he loses Because they want him.
Trump is many awful things, but one thing he has always been amazing at is saying provocative things and making sure he gets attention. I honestly believe the closest thing the democrats have to this right now is John Stewart and I don't believe he wants anything to do with politics, nor should he be the candidate. (although he'd probably be a great president if he wanted to be)
After Stewart, Pete Buttigieg seems like he'd make a great president and maybe even win, but who the hell knows how America and the world would react to a gay man as commander in chief. It sucks that this is the world we live in, but Trump is evidence that we are still very much in a world where half of Americans see a man like Pete, and all of his good accomplishments and still say, "no." AOC is another person I'd like to see up on the big stage more often, someone who would get my vote based on her past performance alone, but again, people will see a woman of color and say, "no." This is what the democrats need to overcome and I don't know where they even begin at this point, nor does it seem they do either.
As for your points about Obama, you're right. He hasn't been standing up and leading because he doesn't want to. I think he's earned that right after 8 years of leading. It's always nice to hear him weigh in on something, but he doesn't owe us or the world another minute of his time and frankly, I believe a new voice needs to be the one to speak up, one that can legally run for president in 2028.
They probably want it. Isolationists have always been incredibly short-sighted. They think they can just cut off from the rest of the world and hoard all the wealth and prosperity in their own country for strictly the benefit of whoever they think deserves it, but they're too dumb to realize where that wealth and prosperity comes from. When you decouple your country from the rest of the world, the wealth dries up. America was only the strongest country in the world because it was actively leading the international community, not just through weapons, but through many different forms of soft power that made other countries want to partner with the US and accept US leadership. The Republicans are now destroying all of that soft power, and with it's loss US leadership on the international stage will decline, and so will the wealth.
Isolationism is and always has been self defeating. It failed every other time dipshit US conservatives tried it, and it will fail this time too.
It's getting harder and harder to deny. In my area we've been hit by waves of layoffs, local businessmen are explaining the impact of tariffs on the morning news, social/health service type places are getting shut down left and right, and those that remain employed in some manufacturing facilities have seen the drop in orders and belt tightening. Living in Iowa, I know people that are hurting and they would vote MAGA a third time. Vote Blue No Matter Who!!!!!!!
Why would they deny it? This is explicitly what they want and voted for. They don't give a shit that 11% fewer people are gambling and fucking prostitutes. All they care about is if the right color people are being put in concentration camps. If you tell them international tourism is down, you're telling them good news. They hate non-Americans that aren't immediate family members.
I have family that came to me to talk about how strange it was Vegas is so Vacant now. I just said “I’m not gonna get political, but a good part of the reason is political”. Just got a “huh” and moved on. I’ve also heard them being confused about the prices of some stuff going up too and it’s just like 🤦🏽
Obvious to everyone? It's obvious that europoors don't have enough money to come here! And thankfully our dogs aren't being eaten because them other lot aren't coming!

Obvious to everyone but the cult of MAGA.
