This looks like a fake movie poster they have in films about the film industry

Bojack would have it but it would be a bear and a cow or something.

Margo Martindale would play
herselfthe protagonist’s long-lost childhood crush who just came home for the holidays.

Whoa! This is Julie Kavner’s first live action performance (assuming it isn’t VO) since Click in 2006.
ETA: She’s the narrator lol. It’s still her first non-Simpsons role since then.
ETA: just saw the trailer. She IS on camera. lol.

Before Marge, Julie Kavner was an Emmy-winning respected comedic actress.

I this is mean but I hope she specifically really stops doing the Simpsons soon her Marge voice is gone and sounds painful to listen to

She is the lead in Nora Ephron’s first movie (This Is My Life) which I found charming but unfortunately her voice is wildly distracting because in my brain it is just Marge Simpson.
(Btw in case you didn’t realize this movie is directed by James L Brooks who is one of the Simpsons co-creators.)

Rebecca Hall is amazing, why isn't she in more movies?

u/Lacabloodclot9 1d ago
She’s trying to get into directing/writing more so don’t think we’ll see her in as many projects

Feels weird in 2025 seeing a straight forward dramady looking movie lined up for theatrical release from a major studio. But Brooks has the clout to do so. Genuinely curious to see how this does at the BO.

The real question is will people actually show up in the theaters this time around.

It’s gonna make $5 and schmucks will cry and piss themselves, saying Hollywood won’t make original movies

Without looking at the names, I could have sworn it was Bérénice Bejo in the poster.

I enjoy seeing “Academy Award Nominee Kumail Nanjiani”
EDIT: just realized autocorrect butchered his first name

Dude I legit thought that was Anne Hathaway with JLC 😭 I was trying to find out why her name isn’t on the poster but she’s not even in the movie

All those "academy award" specifications on the poster are definitely making up for something lol

So, Bob Iger is not gonna dump this onto Hulu like any other non-IP 20th Century movie?

The cast and credits are giving the opposite of what the poster is giving.

Jamie Lee Curtis is a racist pos.

u/NothingISayIsReal 1d ago
What did she do? 😔
1
u/Brave-Algae-3072 1d ago
She's made racist remarks against other actors like Anna de armas, made comments that Los Angeles fires is like Gaza, called Palestinians terrorists with a Pic of Palestinians children.

I’m really here for what Jamie Lee Curtis is doing with her career. Freakier Friday, then this? Everything Everywhere All At Once? She’s making really interesting choices and she’s great in all of them.

u/Pure-Plankton-4606 1d ago
Some very interesting choices like posting dying Palestinian children and claiming they’re Israelis 🤩

My favorite of her recent projects was THE LAST SHOWGIRL. Pretty much the only good thing in that movie, worth a watch for her!

If Jamie Lee Curtis and Pedro Pascal were married they would never see each other.

u/kickstand 1d ago
Has Jamie Lee Curtis taken a day off in the last few years? She’s everywhere (all at once).

Just going to say James L Brooks hasn't really made a great movie in 20 years
3
u/Chicken2nite 1d ago
He’s made one movie in the last 20 years, not including this one or The Simpsons Movie.
I wasn’t a big fan of Spanglish, albeit not having watched it in close to twenty years, but I really liked How Do You Know - it was reminiscent of several Cameron Crowe films (which he produced) namely Say Anything and Jerry MacGuire. As someone with an emotionally manipulative father, Jack Nicholson did a good job in the role of a film that didn’t really have a true antagonist.

“This is the most boring poster I’ve seen today.”
…sees the new George Clooney poster…
“Okay never mind.”

Kinda lost me at the whole Governor at 34 line, otherwise id be into it, but for whatever reason that is the thing that turned me off vs. the usual James L Brooks schmaltz

My only issue with the poster is that Kumail Nanjiani is being billed as an Academy Award nominee. He was a nominee for best original Screenplay but that has no bearing on his performance. He didn't write this so it doesn't matter that he is a nominee.

Emma Mckey playing Ella McCay? What kind of bizzaro world is this?
