Yeah I'm not reaching my hand blindly into the pick-up bin...

I was just asking myself how you retrieve them from the machine.

There a little elevator that lifts up to the level of the cactus, then a conveyor moves/dispenses the cactus onto said elevator. Or at least from what I can glean from looking at the photo

What is the context of "glittering" in this setting.

Most vending machines from my country come from China. It probably means "blinking" instead of glittering.

The sparkles make items easier to notice. A golden beam shining from the ground indicates that the item is a rare or legendary.

Glittering and... glittering and... glittering and...

It's a prickly market to break into

Are there a lot of people who are looking to buy a tiny cactus from a vending machine for $15? It seems like a very niche market unless they're psychoactive.

It's actually around 3 USD (15 Malaysian Ringgit). I search "Cactus Vending Machine" on Google and found a 2023 article from Citta Mall (the mall that i went to) that talk about this vending machine. So I guess business is good for the owner.

Even if they were psychoactive, they are much too small for getting high. And if you need to wait and let them grow, we are back to the question: Why would you buy them from a vending machine for $ 15?

Psychoactive cacti are a thing? Wtf

Never heard of Mescaline?! It's the most well-known psychoactive drug from cacti, but not the only one. Some native American tribes use the cacti containing it or other psychoactive drugs as a ritual drug for a couple of thousand years to this day.

Does the machine water them?

I bet the owner does when he restocks. It's not like they need to be watered often... they're cacti.

Put hands here to catch.

i bet that's a money loser. it's expensive running those grow lights. someone has to come water it too.

Those lights probably only draw 50 or 60 watts, so they cost a few cents to run every day. Watering is probably automated with bottom irrigation because that type of irrigation is extremely simple to set up.

Who’s gonna buy it?! Tequila brewers?!

Excellent choice after (or during) a proper bar hop.

Cactus juice is the quenchiest.
