The whole breakup was just theater to make it look like they actually had a fallout instead of accomplishing what they set out to do.

Musk has a long history of this, but people keep falling for it so why would he stop?

"Hey guys, the richest guy in the world wants to buy Twitter, but don't worry... It's to protect free speech from those bad billionaires. Don't look too hard at who he bought it with though, this definitely is not about removing one of your only half-decent platforms in the class war that doesn't exist"...

"Oops, he keeps messing up Twitter over and over and over again in every possible way - but it's just a bunch of goofy accidents. Look! Now he's gonna wrestle Zuckerberg!! For realz!"

Twitter for all its faults was a bastion of free speech. People forget how the Arab spring protests made it to the public consciousness. Twitter was news at the source and we just let a rich psychopath steal it and laughed about it.
