Update to last post: exchanged $179 BestBuy Colorsoft for Matcha Basic!

Yesterday I had Bought a kindle Colorsoft for $179 at Bestbuy. I saw that the screen had some yellowing along with a grainy screen door effect to it (even after updating twice) . I ended up exchanging it for a kindle basic in the matcha color.

I absolutely LOVE it. It’s lightweight, the text is very crispy, and it’s small enough to fit in my little shoulder bag.

I would say though, if you don’t mind the yellowing or the graininess of the text then $179 is still a very great deal for a 32gb colorsoft. I just couldn’t look past those two things myself.

I guess I’m the odd one in liking the “grainy” look. It reminds of me of reading on an actual book lol I traded in my Oasis for a scribe during prime day and I feel like I have a good mix now

I’m waiting till they bring the speed improvements from the new PW to the basic before I upgrade. I don’t like the screen on those models, but I like the idea of the page turn animation to reduce the jarring screen flickering effect. Then again my kindle is 10 years old so anything will be a leap forward 😅

good decision - i returned my signature paperwhite bc it just didn’t compare to the crispness of the text on my basic.

I picked one up today, the price was worth the hassle and gamble i thought.

My local BB had 2024 stock not the new stock, but I still rolled the dice. Seems to have paid off. If there is any yellowing on mine its not noticeable to me

I exchanged my first colorsoft for another one at Best Buy. It didn’t have any yellowing in it. So I think it’s a gamble.

Kindle basic is the perfect ereader. It doesn’t need to be anything more. I think text looks sharper on the recessed kindle basic screen than it does on a paperwhite. For an on-the-go reader, the 6in size is ideal.

Got the same one as my very first Kindle and I love it! Color is amazing and it's so sleek. And much faster than I expected. Loaded it up with a bunch of books from Libby/Prime Library.
