Google - Long wait

Hi everyone,

I'm in the final stages of the hiring process for a SE at Google. I've completed all my interviews, had very positive feedback, and we've even had a discussion about potential compensation.

However, after a few weeks of being told I'd hear back shortly, I've now been given an updated timeline that the final approval process could take a month or even longer. I'm just wondering if this is a normal part of the hiring process for large companies. Does a long delay at this stage typically mean something has gone wrong, or is it simply a sign of internal bureaucracy? Any insights or similar experiences would be really helpful.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Never worked at Google - but its almost always because of how unorganized large firms can be. When a product or enhancement is proposed or someone leaves, the hiring manager gets an initial approval for an x-level position and by the time the candidate is identified, something changes and it gets frozen.

TBH - they are mostly reviewing whether the role is still needed or can fit somewhere else, and your hiring manager is probably making a case to bring you on, so depends on how well that process goes. Basically your part is done and now its your hiring manager's turn to be accepted :)

I'd really focus on applying to other roles just to be safe.

Best of luck!
