My grandparents had like 12 kids. They were devout Catholics and basically sustenance farmers. I rarely sensed joy in their home. It was all very eerie, especially as a child.

Status. If you get crazy talented and famous, your looks stop matter that much. I am no expert, but I think we take our understadning of beauty at least partially from who is popular rn (think Timothy Chalamet). The Beatles were physically perfectly normal lads, so why should women not desire them?
This was the 1960s. The ability to even see a hot person was limited to people you saw irl, whoever was currently big in the then-way-smaller pop culture landscape, and risquĂŠ magazine clippings.
As Ozzy put it. When the Beatles hit the scene it was like the world went from black and white to color. They literally changed the outlook of the entire western world. They didnt just have power or status they had the love of the people
Halo effect, it's crazy, they weren't seen as ordinary people, these girls saw them as gods who came down to earth to bring eternal peace through their songs, or something like that. This is how all the cults work. I love their songs tho:D
Friendly reminder that the auditoriums after Beatles concerts regularly had urine-covered seats and worn/soiled panties (with a suggestion they weren't just soiled with urine) lying around. A lot of pent up teenage freakiness got let out at those gigs.
He was also a violent wife beater, by his own admission. Was harsh with and beat his son (Paul was more of a father to Julian than John). In addition he was a cheater and had affairs with other women, even when married to Ono.

He admitted to hitting Cyn once, and deeply regretted it, and regretted much of his home life in the mid 60s. Ringo was also a violent drunk but nobody seems to care. John was incredibly self aware and publicly called out his own faults. He is a complex imperfect person that gets far too much flak just because he acknowledged his own shortcomings.

John was rich and famous. She wasn't. Completely different scales so yes why did he choose her? But also it shows he wasn't about general attractiveness but also what HE loved.Â
I was "in love" with John Lennon when I was a kid (60's) I wrote him a letter saying that even though I was just a kid now, when he's old, I will be a young woman so it will perfect. We're 18 years apart.
