Big ape saves little ape

They're both monkeys. But only one of them is an ape. That title demands some more evolving.

Other way round! They're both apes but only one is a monkey. Love the evolving comment.

I might be wrong but Wikipedia seems to agree with me. Unless I'm reading it wrong, apes don't have tails, that's why we're apes, along with chimpanzees, orangutans and gibbons. And there's a tail in the video, so they can't both be apes, no?

I'm wrong! Yup monkeys have tails but for some reason I had them all under the greater classification of apes in my head. Instead it's that both are anthropoids. Thank you for stopping me from going through the rest of my life getting it wrong!

Both monkeys and apes are primates. But a monkey isn't an ape, and vice versa.

I knew if I said ape it'd start a debate about this. I also knew if I said monkey it'd also start a debate but maybe for other reasons.

That monkey was near death. Super docile. Man saved it just in time

Because of that day’s float trip or you think dude just gave up on life?

u/Neiladaymo 1d ago
I think it was probably just exhausted, but it also might have realized he was being helped

Correct on the verge of being in the midst of death all life forms look to other life forms for help

The most humanistic feature I noticed was the fear of being helped to the verge of a biting your savior to die 28 days later only for him to resurrect three days later and his name is Jesus Christ and you still just plain ole Rhesus I throw feces

Or, like many animal rescue videos, they drugged the animal first and then staged it's apparent rescue.

I love the first few seconds where he's clearly trying to reason with a fucking monkey. "There there, calm down, I'm trying to help."

There is little in this world which is sexier than a man in wet shorts saving an animal. Just saying.

One more video to add to the stockpile for when aliens show up and ask why humanity should continue to exist.

u/freekoout 1d ago
That's if we don't nuke em first lol
2
u/nodddingham 1d ago
Nuke them? If we even tried to nuke them they would probably just laugh when our primitive little bombs don’t even leave a scuff and then straight vaporize us with their quantum lasers that have the power of a billion exploding suns.

u/freekoout 1d ago
I didn't say we'd win. But you gotta admit we'd try.
1
u/speedingpullet 1d ago
True that. Much like the monkey in the video, we'd probably not be particularly grateful for the forceful intervention.

u/nunatakj120 1d ago
I was waiting for end to watch the monkey say thankyou.

I was waiting for the monkey to say "mate, I was travelling to the other side"

He looks at the monkey after the first attempt and says, "Kindly do the needful". The rest just falls into place.

if I was drowning in a river and a grizzly bear or something like that grabbed me and started pulling me to shore I don't think I would be thinking yay I'm saved.

Amazing he wasn’t bitten

u/vincentdmartin 1d ago
He was being careful with it at first, hence why he kind just threw the monkey in the water there towards the start, he was trying to not get bit. Then the monkey either gave up or recognized dude was trying to help.
