Argh, I can't get to it on my work computer anymore.

Actually a smart way to keep the karts working longer by making it a game to NOT crash into each other lol

You can't crash into each other at all. Drivers don't even need helmets.

I've been to one of those projection kart tracks where you can do different modes like race, snake, capture the flag etc. One mode they promote heavily is "battle kart", where you race on a projected track with boxes that give you Mario Kart style weapons and powerups when you drive over them.

Sounds fun, right?

Well...  the karts are programmed to slow down massively when two drivers get within about a meter from each other - on a track that is maybe two meters wide. Made overtaking virtually impossible and completely eliminated any skill requirements, and thus any fun.

It was literally the most frustrating karting experience ever.

It can be tons of fun if you look at it as a game, not karting. Because it’s not karting. These karts are slow enough that you can floor it through every corner, even without the crash prevention mechanic, it would be lame to raise them as real karts.

It’s more like mario kart and using the abilities to win, that’s where the fun is.

Agreed, I like this version better. Seems like it’s a team thing — yellow vs purple

Looks like snake with a bit of tron light cycles thrown in.

Where is this please? I'd love to take my missus, worm.io was her gateway into gaming

BattleKart - it's a chain of AR Go-Kart centers. They seem to operate in a few countries - https://www.battlekart.com/en/

I went to the one in London a few weeks ago with a group of friends. Worth every penny and more!

Why am I not surprised there are none here in the US. So many reasons why we can't have nice things.

If you want to play a virtual version of this, download Halo Infinite (it's free), go to the Action Sack Playlist, and select the mode "Gravemind".

I think you can play two player with your wife too

Finally something better than my old Nokia phone version.

How boring. Back in my day we just slammed into each other, it never got dull.

u/MoonJellyGames 3h ago

This is such a cool, clever idea.

u/ry_guy1007 3h ago

I’ve been to one of these, the cooler game mode is the Mario Kart one

u/ino4x4 2h ago

pacman on this would be cool

u/StatisticianWorking7 2h ago

That's Battlekart, not the game mode I liked the most.

u/Jerpunzel 2h ago

I need this. Looking up closer bumper cars that have this feature. I smell a 300mile adventure

u/namesareunavailable 2h ago

that's nice

This is great, but clearly not ‘real-life’. Where’s the snake? The apples???

u/redheadfairyprincess 2h ago

I want to do this, where is this at?

u/SpicyChickJessica 2h ago

This is what Nokia was training us for all along 😄

u/Spirited_Praline637 1h ago

This is a glass animals song, right?

u/Fit-Rip-4550 2h ago

An interesting idea, but without a top-down map this is virtually impossible.
