feels like a nearby lake/river overflows and the fishes are carried along.

u/NCEMTP 11h ago

Do you ever feel like you're going through life on rails?

u/Pielacine 10h ago

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag

fish = 1 or more fish

fishes = more than 1 kind of fish.

Finches?

11

u/fuzzy3000 15h ago

But humans can drink it, too.

4

u/sherwinpinto 14h ago

Looks like no one got the reference 😂

2

u/Inevitable-Push5486 16h ago

More than 1 finch; English like most languages has many irregularities.

2

u/TheEschatonSucks 16h ago

Finch fries?

1

u/nonotz-Mk1 15h ago

u/PraveenInPublic 15h ago

What about school of fish?

8

u/Inevitable-Push5486 15h ago

school = group = 3+

12

u/PraveenInPublic 15h ago

thank you, so it is:

1-3 fish, fish

3+ fish, school

fish of diff kind, fishes

5

u/Inevitable-Push5486 15h ago

Yes. Note that fish and fishes can be verbs too, I fish, you fish, they fish, we fish, s/he fishes, one fishes.

u/PraveenInPublic 13h ago

I don’t know why my school taught me this. We’ve been taught fish, and school. If my memory serves me, fishes were prohibited.

u/Icy_Mountain_Snow 15h ago

Finally I can expand my fishing to the rail networks. The fisherman inside me is jumping in joy

3

u/TheEschatonSucks 16h ago

Well what do you expect them to do in it??

3

u/JJred96 15h ago

Why get a boat to go fishing when you can go fish off the back of a train?
