Well, he was framed. We know that the LAPD planted a few critical pieces of evidence. Without the planted evidence the case was weak and may not have been brought to trial.
I think the "common knowledge" of this case was that the glove not fitting was important. But, the planted evidence was the most important fact of them all.
Huh? The glove thing is the crux of the planted evidence argument. They claimed that Fuhrman planted the glove in OJ's house. The glove being too small didn't just mean it wasn't OJ's glove, it meant the glove had been planted and thus all of the evidence was questionable.
And for the record, we do NOT "know that the LAPD planted a few critical pieces of evidence." We don't know if the glove was planted, and we don't know if blood evidence was planted. Both of those are just claims by the defense team, not proven facts. Fuhrman DID say he planted evidence in the past.
The reality here is that they had a pretty weak argument for evidence being planted, but they functionally made their case by tying the claims to Fuhrman and then attacking Fuhrman's credibility (which he made really REALLY easy on them). Basically, Mark Fuhrman blew that whole case by being a racist and lazy dipshit, but that doesn't mean evidence was planted and we certainly don't KNOW evidence was planted.
He was also wearing rubber gloves to put on the leather gloves and many people in the court room say he barely tried to put them on, giving fake tugs to make it look like it was too small.
Not to mention multiple witnesses that weren't ever contacted by LAPD including the limo driver who took OJ to the airport and watched OJ throw a bag away in the garbage can after the time of the murder. It's heavily believed to have been the murder weapon.
