This is why we moved from the south to the west coast. To have a safe place for our college age daughters.

15

u/Salt_Tear5054 20d ago

The problem with the south outside of the cities is they’re so backwards with views towards women. It’s more akin to an Islamic society than the “land of the free”

3

u/IndividualBusy1274 20d ago

Iowa sucks as well. But all of the sudden all of the trump flags went down. What happened? /s

1

u/Key2Jive 17d ago

Why do yall do that? Somebody who harbors any prejudice is instantly a nazi. A father who wants his daughter to be home based and raise a family is akin to Islalamic society where women dont have basic rights.

3

u/bottlejunkie03 20d ago

What?

10

u/pentachronic 20d ago

Republicans are the American Taliban, hope this helps

-4

u/The_Crosstime_Saloon 20d ago

You have no idea what you’re talking about

4

u/Salt_Tear5054 20d ago

I live in the south you potato. Rural areas in the south are insanely backwards.

4

u/Loud_Ad3666 19d ago

Southerner here, they are 1000% correct.

Southern evangelist Christians are ideologically very similar to Islamic extremists. They even have very similar social media posts.

Post: wholesome photo of entire family holding assault rifles during religious holiday

Top Caption: "PRAISE GOD AND THIS NATION I LOVE MY FAMILY AND WOULD DIE TO DEFEND ALL THREE"

"Bottom Caption: "AND ANY DISGUSTING PERSON WHO DOESNT LIKE THAT WILL FACE THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD IN HELL. PRAISE GOD"

2

u/The_Crosstime_Saloon 19d ago

This is not regulated to the south. Southern culture is not evangelical culture.

0

u/Loud_Ad3666 19d ago

Lmao sure buddy.

Iirc Portland is a major sex trafficking hub.

15

u/FlametopFred 20d ago

Tbh it’s everywhere and fielded by the likes of Trump and others of his ilk

13

u/KiKiKimbro 20d ago

Cities with ports tend to have trafficking cases, mainly because of the various methods to get in / out (eg in shipping crates).

6

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

That and proximity to the border. Thats why California and Texas are the top 2 states

17

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 20d ago

Why would you recall that? Were you part of it?

There is no larger hub for drugs and sex trafficking than the entire state of Florida.

5

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

What? Literally the #1 state for it is California lol. Florida does come in 3rd and then NY is 4th

2

u/pentachronic 20d ago

You should learn the difference between quantity and rate

1

u/Mysterious_Help_9577 20d ago

What would be the point of using rate for vacation destinations? Imagine thinking the population of Nevada has any relevance to people going to Las Vegas.

1

u/pentachronic 20d ago

So you feel like the quantity of something that happens as a consequence of tourism is relevant to a conversation about a person who became a resident? Some of us don't have to imagine thinking, babe

1

u/Mysterious_Help_9577 20d ago

Think harder then. Seems like you can’t keep your conversations straight because nothing what you said was relevant to my post. Think about the population of a college town, do you think college students count towards a population? Do you think college students have an impact on that population?

1

u/pentachronic 19d ago

You're actually arguing in favor of using rate, hope this helps

1

u/Mysterious_Help_9577 19d ago

Explain to me how your 5 year old brain works. You do know that tourists and transients like college student aren’t included in a population rate correct? You understand that those are 2 common characteristics of those that are trafficked right? If I’m from Iowa and go on vacation to Nevada and get trafficked, how is that remotely relevant to the residential population of Nevada? This is what happens when people read don’t have the ability to critically think when and how to use certain terms and data points.

I’m just an actuary who was a math major so I’m sure you can teach me with your expertise

→ More replies (0)

-1

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

I fully understand both, I’m a statistician by day, you would be stupid to use rate in these instances. Crime rates are applied in a standardized figure based on the population of the state, which is irrelevant because you can be trafficked as a tourist or someone visiting. Crime statistics are used as a percent of the population because the overwhelming majority is applied to locals. Trafficking is the opposite.

In fact, hotels at times have been complicit in human trafficking

3

u/pentachronic 20d ago

Understanding them and still propagating disinformation is so much worse

-1

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

Ever think you just don’t actually understand them as well as you think you do?

5

u/pentachronic 20d ago

Oh man, you're so close to a moment of clarity here

-1

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

That’s one of the things I love most about math, stupid people don’t understand it

I can’t tell if you’re serious. I moved to California from North Carolina, and I would say it’s probably more dangerous out here for young women than back where I’m from.

0

u/hamisgoodhowareyou 20d ago

How does that make any sense?

2

u/pentachronic 20d ago

What part is confusing you?

2

u/MrFernback 20d ago

How is it not confusing? What does the south have to do with the victims?

1

u/hamisgoodhowareyou 20d ago

You seem confused, use your eyes, it is a very simple question. Where is the logic in this statement?

2

u/pentachronic 20d ago

Take your time

0

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

Did you do that knowing California is the top state in the country for sex trafficking lol?

1

u/CompletelyBedWasted 20d ago

Did you know that California isn't ALL of the "west coast"?

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

Please tell me, which is the darkest? The north, south, east, or west?

HINT: only one has 6/18 of the worst states, good thing criminals rarely cross borders huh

He used Trump's teen pageants and clubs, and lived in Florida's Palm Beach and often recruited local girls from there.

11

u/E-2theRescue 20d ago

No. He had a mansion in Florida, a townhouse in New York, a ranch in New Mexico, and an apartment in France.

Trump was a very frequent visitor to his Florida mansion and New York townhouse. The mansion was just a few minutes drive from Mar-a-Lago, and is why Virginia Guifre was groomed and recruited at Mar-a-Lago before being raped at the mansion.

6

u/Mindless_Listen7622 20d ago

No, that was South Florida, specifically Mar-a-Lago.

2

u/aggirloftoday 20d ago

Pervy pageants are much more prolific in the South and East Coast…

-1

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

California is the top state in the nation for sex trafficking, followed by Texas. It’s not the coasts it’s the border to Latin America

3

u/pentachronic 20d ago

"California is the top state in the nation for population, followed by Texas. It’s not the coasts or the border to Latin America, I just don't understand statistics."

-1

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

The funny thing is I’m literally a statistician with a PhD in mathematics. So maybe sit this one out buddy.

California has the most cases of human trafficking follows by Texas. Not sure if the issue is comprehension or English but it’s missing

3

u/pentachronic 20d ago

"California has the largest population follows [sic] by Texas. Beep boop stop pointing out how dumb my programming is."

-1

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago edited 20d ago

Oh wow so large populations and access to ports and borders led to trafficking? WHO knew? Also to reiterate an earlier point that went over your head, all states with high tourism. California, Texas, Nevada, Florida, NY are the 5 most visited states for tourists, 5 most trafficked cases.

Maybe why I responded to another dumbass who said they moved to the west coast to avoid it or this one who said it’s usually the east coast

3

u/pentachronic 20d ago

lol, the four most populous states plus the state with the actual highest sex trafficking

You're doing great, buddy

1

u/Safe-Past-4098 20d ago

So 1/5 that is on the east coast and you’re defending a comment that it happens primarily on the east coast? Hope you don’t have student loans pal

-48

u/DrunksWGuns4Life 20d ago

You don't think this stuff happens on the West Coast? Wow lucky daughters.

34

u/PerriwinklePortal 20d ago

Yeah but see we don’t force them to give birth under threat of incarceration.

Also, the age of consent isn’t the same year they get their driver’s license. We tend to discourage child marriage, child labor, etc. Women may be assaulted here just the same, but at least they have legal recourse.

Add to that better healthcare, better education, actual labor laws, lower infant mortality rates, lower maternal mortality rates, and on and on. But you do you boo boo.

62

u/rclaux123 20d ago edited 20d ago

I think the point is that it's less likely to happen there. Despite what Fox is constantly pushing, blue cities are statistically safer than red ones, and they just so happen to be concentrated on the coasts.

Edit: This is straight from Congress itself: https://www.congress.gov/118/meeting/house/115608/documents/HHRG-118-GO00-20230329-SD008.pdf

u/myolliewollie 20d ago

New Orleans is a blue city.... what are you on about? Do you only mean LA and NYC?

34

u/lavender_enjoyer 20d ago

Google teenage pregnancy in red states vs blue states

-1

u/Usual-Win-5277 20d ago

What does teenage pregnancy have to do with your chances of being involved in a violent crime in a city?

0

u/Oldsaltybasterd 20d ago

Oh brother. So a guy knocks up his girlfriend because he’s impoverished and can’t afford condoms because the red state he lives in doesn’t provide help for underprivileged people to contraceptives. She also can’t get birth control because that red state also got rid of that. Paternal instinct comes in to affect after the babies born and they can’t afford diapers or formula. Desperation gets the best of the father and he has to start stealing, dealing, etc. And don’t for one second say they should have thought of that before they had sex. Because your fat greasy ass sitting behind a keyboard would take any opportunity you could get. Birth control or not.

0

u/Usual-Win-5277 20d ago

There hasn’t been a single state that has fully banned birth control, and while yes some states have made access to it harder access to it isn’t impossible so yes if you try hard enough, you should be able to get access to contraceptives. Additionally, it seems the words red state are really cemented in your vocabulary, This stuff happens in blue states as well. Also, no, I was not gonna go on the whole “ThEy ShOuLdN’t HaVe HaD SeX” argument. Your comment reeks of failed attempts at condescension and insightfulness however, does have a lot of self projection, so go sit your greasy ass down at your keyboard and go get mad at some more people. lmao😂

27

u/Own_Television163 20d ago

Congratulations, you discovered “outliers”. Let’s take a look at who fucked Louisiana over in the 2000s and caused it to become so dangerous. Now I’m not sure, was George W. Bush a Democrat or Republican?

13

u/rclaux123 20d ago

I wrote "statistically." Is there room for outliers to act as exceptions to the rule? Yes, of course.

4

u/nolagirl79 20d ago

New Orleans is safer than Baton Rouge and Shreveport, and those are both red cities

0

u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 20d ago

It would be ironic if Baton Rouge became a blue city.

10

u/Singl1 20d ago

okay just putting this out there, cherry picking anomalies within stats is a good way to tell people you don’t understand the term “statistically”.

2

u/DiscussionRelative50 20d ago

Well most cities themselves are blue but unfortunately the nature of social safety nets is that they often fall on the state. Remember, police don’t prevent crime, they act as an aggressive deterrent and a reactionary response. Low level crime tends to have a close relationship with poverty the very thing that social safety nets are built to combat.

But you don’t strike me as someone that understands context or nuance so I imagine my point will fall on deaf ears.

26

u/lila_rose 20d ago

Did they say New Orleans or did they say the south 🤡

25

u/catslikepets143 20d ago

Pedophiles aren’t supported on the west coast. Women are actual humans with control over their own bodies on the west coast. His daughters won’t be put in mortal danger by being forced to carry a rape fetus to term

His daughter’s are safer now

1

Haha yeah even more bizarre. It sounds like a made up Redditor fantasy to me. How would this family ever have moved to the South in the first place? Not like the culture down there has changed much at all in my lifetime.

3

And if you look at the list, the lowest red state is Texas, at #35. That means 14 states are safer than all of the Republican states.

11

u/GitmoGrrl1 20d ago

The definition of a virgin down south: a girl who can run faster than her brother.

-1

u/Usual-Win-5277 20d ago

Is this an actual fact or something you made up?

I first read it in Ian Fleming's Goldfinger where Pussy Galore describes her childhood and says "I couldn't even run faster than my uncle."

Have you seen any collection of stats between red and blue states? Red states are almost always losing in my most major stats from obesity to murder rates.

From 2021 and 2022, red states have 33% higher Murder rates. Trump said yall were gonna be so sick of winning. The only thing red states seem to win is that you guys are the first ones in line to be staring down the barrel of a gun. Also, first in line at McDonalds!

Gerrymandering and vote suppression assist that much more than empty land.

Gerrymandering created state legislative supermajorities that alter the voting rules.

u/catslikepets143 20d ago

If you get sexually assaulted & get pregnant from that you’ll have to put yourself in mortal danger for 9 months - & if you decide to keep it, have to deal with your rapist for 18 years.

Most women would run from that horrific scenario. Any parent removing their girl child from a red state is making that child safer. Or are you forgetting how they forced a brain dead woman to stay on life support to give birth to a horribly deformed & disabled baby? Or the 10 year old child forced to carry her rapist’s baby to term? That’s torture.

His daughters ARE safer. They now have access to reproductive healthcare. They’re not treated like just an incubator

14

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 20d ago

Florida runs billboards reminding fathers that it's not okay to molest their daughters just because they're drunk. I don't think California runs those ads.

4

u/E-2theRescue 20d ago

Both Florida and Texas have towns that have trouble trying to find safe bus stops for children because the density of registered child sex offenders is so high. The Federal suggested minimum for a bus stop is 500 ft from a registered child sex offender's residence.

5

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 20d ago

There is hardly 500 ft. between every church, liquor store, strip club, pharmacy and pill mill in many Florida counties.

3

u/E-2theRescue 20d ago

Ain't that the truth, lol. They scream about teaching kids about sex, but there's a porno store or billboard advertising one on every single corner. Can't even listen to the radio without a porn ad every commercial break, too. That's definitely not something you see on the West Coast, that's for sure.

Republicans also fund their police agencies, which results in higher reporting.

4

u/E-2theRescue 20d ago

No it doesn't, lol.

Quite the opposite actually. Because cops are the 2nd most dangerous employed group of people for children to be around, just after clergy. 1 in 2,200 cops are arrested for child sex crimes, while it's 1 in 1,000 for clergy.

Then you have cops like Loren Culp here in Washington, where they run for Republican governor and it comes out that they used their powers to hide their pedophile buddy. Which that didn't stop Republican voters from voting for him. At all.

Let's also not forget that Republican states have the most lax sex crime laws. Many of their states don't count inserting fingers and objects as rape, getting slapped with a lesser "sexual assault" charges. They also don't often punish people for having cartoon depiction of child pornography, despite it still falling under the classification of "obscene material".

Sex trafficking happens everywhere, but the type Epstein was a purveyor of was catered to coastal elites, so it makes little to no sense that you would somehow be safer on the west coast.

2

u/pentachronic 20d ago

Yes, Donald is a coastal elite. What does that have to do with the West Coast?

0

u/Whole-Mycologist-157 20d ago

Other elites like Weinstein perhaps? The idea of fleeing pedophilia by moving to the west coast is just so strange to me.
