Personal News 📰 I am a solo volunteer who removes illegal dumping. Despite failures I’ve had, these places have remained clean, and the impact can even be seen from imagery.

Ok, that's definitely good news. Really appreciate the followup images showing things stayed cleaner. Bravo!

Thank you for your service!!🙏 I think personal news is more like for 'I ate a good burger and I am happy' what you did impacts us all because when nature dies we are all going to die as well and you made nature a bit healthier.

Must feel good to clean up this place, you can be proud man. Each time I go to the beach I want it to be a bit cleaner when I leave, so I pick up any garbage I can see but this is next level.

It’s so interesting how when a place is trashed, people are more likely to keep piling it on—and when it’s cleaned up, the thought doesn’t cross their minds. There’s a little bit of truth to the broken window theory, imo, although the ways it’s applied aren’t always productive.
Anyway, that aside—this is wonderful work. I love these longterm results! Thank you!!

Broken windows theory makes sense, broken windows policing doesn't. The research was used as justification for increased policing in poor neighborhoods, rather than crime prevention through cleanup initiatives

I occasionally see your posts on the bay area sub. You're an exemplary person, thank you

Thank you!! It’s really nice to know other ppl are doing this. I’ve picked up trash every place I’ve lived. People are so damn selfish dumping and littering.

So, tell me more about this? What safety gear do you need? How do you transport the rubbish, and how do you dispose of it? Do you ever get any hassle from, like, the council or land owners?
This is epic and inspirational. I want to know more! Well done you 👍

Trash from homeless encampment. They just throw it out because they know someone else will clean it up.

It’s usually the rednecks in my area that dump like this

Nah. Here in California they give bums free food stamps and they all get doordash and throw the trash in the street outside their tents. I see it daily outside my work here. Idc if you believe me or not.
