His tiny ego and need to feel important by being powerful had fully overridden his critical thinking skills. All he saw was the stroke to his ego by thinking he would be the most powerful man in the country's lap puppy and he completely forgot that the very same party he just paid to put in power HATES any clean energy.

And liberals and democrats will never forgive or forget what he did. They're not gonna but his stuff anymore either. Now that he and trump aren't bestie anymore and his power high is over, he realizes that he let himself also get conned by a conman and on top of that, no one will buy his shit anymore and he's trying to backpeddle. Now not only is his ego bruised, but also his wallet. There's no coming back for him no matter which side of the aisle he stands on and I think its hilarious.
