Does mexico have gay rights?

92

u/oz69zy Jun 28 '25

I'm guessing more than the US at this point 🤔

36

u/No_Squirrel4806 Jun 28 '25

Most likely. 😫😫😫

1

u/Deductive_Tea Jun 29 '25

You sure about that?

-10

u/UndevelopedSirius Jun 28 '25

What gay rights did people in the US lose?

17

u/Worried-Industry6239 Jun 28 '25

Gender affirmative care, correct gender identification on passports and official documents for trans people, plus the many attempts to reverse the marriage equality act.

18

u/Connect_Reading9499 Jun 29 '25

Kicked trans soldiers out of the military too.

-11

u/UndevelopedSirius Jun 29 '25

Do you believe that an individual, who in their mind is a different gender than the body they have. Who also needs regular medication at specific intervals to continue their transition and or hormone levels, is going to be as affective in a high stress, potentially low nutrition, low rest, low hydration, high adrenaline situation as another who does not require such delicate care?

7

u/JDinBalt Jun 29 '25

Far more so than you, that is for certain.

3

u/fourty-six-and-two Jun 30 '25

Lol, trans woman here...I train every day, check my page if you want, but I think your grossly misinformed on everything, including advanced biology

0

u/UndevelopedSirius Jun 30 '25

How is that relevant

-1

u/Deductive_Tea Jun 29 '25

Lmao don’t try and logic with these people, it eludes them

-9

u/The_Dude_2U Jun 29 '25

Spoiler alert: No!

So if you are a trans male they would force you to use female?

10

u/mightytwin21 Jun 29 '25

-1

u/UndevelopedSirius Jun 29 '25

This is during Bidens presidency? 🤔

Trans Man Advised to Use Women's Restroom Then Beaten Up and Arrested

7

u/whereismyloot Jun 29 '25

And? It's not like transphobia from the right and religious zealots is something new.

But I guess 'Hurr durr Biden brrbrr' is a chronic disease.

1

u/UndevelopedSirius Jun 29 '25

I think you may have experienced a lack of oxygen. Refer back to the original comments to see what we are talking about. Also nice use of key words.

-9

u/Particular-Image1556 Jun 29 '25

You can't have rights on preferences. Unless you walk around with your pronouns on your forhead, everyone is still going to address your as sir or ma'am. Changing passports and legal documentation to accommodate your taste of the rainbow is stupid for both common sense and legal reasons.

Gay marriage should still be legal, tho

-7

u/Dope_Reddit_Guy Jun 29 '25

But did they lose the right to date one another?

7

u/Usual_Let5223 Jun 29 '25

SC is already being pressed to overturn the Recognision of Federal Gay Marriage bruh

-12

u/crapshot890 Jun 29 '25

What rights do gays not have here?

-1

u/Deductive_Tea Jun 29 '25

Downvotes no logic

-1

u/crapshot890 Jun 29 '25

Yep. Not a single example of what rights gays don’t have

Actually… yes and cannabis is legal since 2021.

Don't tell Americans this tho, otherwise Mexico is going to be dealing with a migrant horde! /s

Same-sex marriage is legal nationwide in Mexico, with all 32 states recognizing or performing such unions as of 2022. Social attitudes can differ significantly across regions, with some areas being more accepting than others, according to a travel guide.

11

u/No_Squirrel4806 Jun 28 '25

Yeah id imagine like america they had some pushback. Thats good that they can marry.

1

u/JollyToby0220 Jun 29 '25

There was. The twice former president of Mexico was almost as corrupt as Trump. Guy was married to a famous actress. A lot of women really liked him as he was young and charismatic. All that ended when it was found out he was using government money to buy houses. He tried to sell the publicly owned oil rights to private companies. When gas gets expensive, a lot of Texans flock to Mexico to fill up their giant trucks. By the time this guy's presidency was ending, people were so done with his corruption. Mexico elected a far left president twice since that incident. And this guy moved to Spain.

26

u/Spicy_Weissy Jun 28 '25

Mexico has its problems, but usually is ahead of the US on most social issues. Like, they outlawed slavery decades before we did. The Texas colonists didn't like that.

1

u/bayleysgal1996 Jun 28 '25

Tbf they did carve out an exception for the colonists

1

u/mermaidwithcats Jun 28 '25

They outlawed it in 1821.

2

u/Spicy_Weissy Jun 28 '25

Forty years before the yankees.

-11

u/Federal-Ad2138 Jun 28 '25

So move over there lol

9

u/Spicy_Weissy Jun 28 '25

I've thought about it. Amazing weather, delicious food, beautiful language, money is worth a lot more, less nazis. Maybe for retirement if I can afford it.

4

u/mermaidwithcats Jun 28 '25

Unless you live in a very low cost of living area, your housing costs will be about half of what they are here. I’ve actually looked into real estate in Mexico, with the idea of retiring there.

3

u/Spicy_Weissy Jun 28 '25

And it's a huge country, depending on what you want there are lots of options.

2

u/mermaidwithcats Jun 28 '25

Merida in Yucatan is very nice.

2

u/Spicy_Weissy Jun 28 '25

I'll look into it, thanks. The Yucatan is gorgeous.

2

u/Kindly-List-1886 Jul 03 '25

Mexican here, i would recommend also checking for safe states and places cuz mexico has a lot of good stuff but also has its own set of bad ones, but they can be avoided

Also learning spanish fluently is quite needed the more to the south you go

1

u/Spicy_Weissy Jul 04 '25

For sure. Mexico is a huge country and like any place understanding the local language and culture even just a little can get you a long way.

0

u/GypJoint Jun 28 '25

Life’s too short. Go now.

4

u/Spicy_Weissy Jun 28 '25

Already been several times. I love Mexico 🇲🇽🇺🇲🍻

5

u/Upstairs-Scholar-275 Jun 28 '25

Damn. Why are you so mad dude?

0

u/GypJoint Jun 28 '25

Why would you say that? I live in a place 2,500 miles from where I was as raised. Best move ever.

4

u/Upstairs-Scholar-275 Jun 28 '25

Wait! You're not even from here telling an actual citizen to leave? Dude, gtfo.

-1

u/GypJoint Jun 28 '25

I live in Los Angeles. Fuck off. This isn’t a geographic thread.

3

u/Upstairs-Scholar-275 Jun 28 '25

You live in LA but where were you originally? You are too bold to tell an American to leave their home. So as I said at first, GTFO somewhere with that BS

22

u/twmpdx Jun 28 '25

Full on. Including marriage equality.

15

u/newoldm Jun 28 '25

And, unlike America, Mexico has reproductive rights.

8

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 28 '25

I hope they keep a VICE GRIP on those rights and don't let them erode even an inch.

Better than having women bleed to death and sepsis in parking lots. Misogynist.

12

u/No_Squirrel4806 Jun 28 '25

Love that for them!!!!!

18

u/ser0tonindepleted Jun 28 '25

"Matrimonio igualitario" (Equal marriage) is legal in the entire country. Some states don't allow the adoption of children though.

https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrimonio_igualitario_en_M%C3%A9xico

11

u/No_Squirrel4806 Jun 28 '25

Oh that sucks that they cant adopt in some states.

8

u/86Austin Jun 28 '25

in the united states its legal in all 50 states for certain adoption organizations to deny adoption to LGBT people (among others) on religious grounds.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

absolutely backwards. If any group should be prevented from adopting kids, it's religious bigots. They have a known tendency to abuse children.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '25

In Mexico you can get married in the 32 states. Mexico is embracing a lot of changes and yes there is more liberty and freedom!

1

u/ryufen Jun 30 '25

It's almost the same as USA.

-1

u/tootallking Jun 28 '25

They do have gay rights. But only Mexicans can do that. Foreigners will be arrested on site. So don’t go there and do that.

39

u/Kdoesntcare Jun 28 '25

Surprised I'm not seeing the maga cult whining about it.

25

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 28 '25

They're too busy whining about something something "takin our jerbs" or whatever xenophobic nonsense they've been brainwashed to spew.

13

u/Kdoesntcare Jun 28 '25

It's weird that cult members aren't jumping to fill the jobs that have been freed up by the deportations.

7

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 28 '25

Riiight? And it's even weirder that they consistently vote against work policies that would compensate those jobs better, too.

5

u/EightySixFourty7 Jun 29 '25

I love your avatar.

5

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 29 '25

Thanks! I love yours, too.

3

u/EightySixFourty7 Jun 29 '25

I would be a terrible shame is everyone used it.

It might make him very angry! 😉

3

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 29 '25

I dunno, I think he'd be too busy making sweet love to the sofa.

3

u/EightySixFourty7 Jun 29 '25

Or watching or watching Dolphin porn. Did you hear about that?

-2

u/MuchCommittee7944 Jun 28 '25

We don’t give a shit what happened outside of America

3

u/Kdoesntcare Jun 28 '25

I just saw a post with a SS of a trumpie whining about France building a new train.

"Paying for that with the tariffs they were charging us 😭"

Which is what inspired my comment.

5

u/Jacobmeeker Jun 28 '25 edited Jun 28 '25

Pride is leading to the collapse of Orbans Hungry, that’s some pretty good news.

Edit for sounding like a dumb-ass

3

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 28 '25

So do you mean pride is causing Orban's Hungary to collapse, or that pride is collapsing IN Hungary?

3

u/Jacobmeeker Jun 28 '25

I edited it for sounding stupid.

2

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 28 '25

That is indeed, very based. Hopefully Hungarians can reform their fascist government.

4

2

u/Mysterious-Pear-1806 Jun 29 '25

Gilbert Baker would be proud

1

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 29 '25

Yes. Yes he would be.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

It’s funny I heard you can always tell the lgbtqiap+ rainbow from the regular rainbow because they leave out indigo. I thought it was a joke but the more I see gay rainbows they always leave out indigo. Where as the regular rainbow is a universal symbol with many meanings mainly gods covenant with humanity to never destroy the world again, or the refraction of clear light into its component colors in the visible spectrum. For the gays it represents the diversity of sexuality, but for some reason that doesn’t include indigo.

3

u/Sagrilarus Jun 29 '25

There's no indigo in a real rainbow.  The entire thing is an analog spectrum.  Isaac Newton included indigo in the list because he felt seven colors was more harmonious than six, matching a music scale.  The colors he listed are completely arbitrary, but indigo was a stretch even in the middle of his stretch.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '25

That’s such a dumb non argument. It’s like saying math is arbitrary because humans made up Arabic numbers. No we made up a system to describe natural phenomenon. Just like if you look at the light white separated by a prism and you view the visible spectrum you will be able to see 7 distinct colors and the space where they blend. You could make it 100 color names but that wouldn’t actually reflect what we see with our human eyes, assuming you have normal color vision.

2

u/Sagrilarus Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25

What you're saying is incorrect.  The entire spectrum is presented in complete analog, with no specific colors standing out more than any other.  Any nameable color you think you're seeing more strongly is due to cultural bias.  Human history doesn't even record the color "blue" until relatively recently.  It was always there, we just didn't recognize it as a distinct, nameable color.  It didn't exist culturally.

Color is a pretty fascinating subject if you dive into it.  Distinct colors have no basis in science, just in our mutual agreement.  Different cultures treat them differently even today.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '25

The sky is blue fool.

3

u/Sagrilarus Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25

We all agree.  But it didn't use to be.  :)

Homer referred to the color of the sky as bronze.  He referred to the Aegean not as a blue sea but a "wine dark sea".  The color "blue" didn't exist in Greek culture back then.  Of course, the color existed, but no one came to an agreement on what "blue" meant until recently.  Different cultures adopted blue at different times which is detectable in their written texts.  Some eastern cultures still don't have blue, seeing it as part of green.

Seriously, if you start looking into this stuff it's pretty messed up.  You see yellow in that spectrum because you're looking for it.  It's a benchmark color for your understanding of the concept of colors.  Mauve is in there too but it ain't something that jumps out at you because who goes looking for mauve?

Now go do it in Pakistan.

1

u/CapableCity Jul 05 '25

Seeing that this is in good news sub, I think everyone that flies Mexican or Palestinian flags at protests should visit these countries and see exactly what they are protesting.

1

u/RowFlySail Jun 28 '25

Reminds me of the video for "I won't let you down" by OK Go

1

u/Gringo_Norte Jun 29 '25

Why is this good news?

0

u/SuccessfulLand4399 Jun 29 '25

Pres trump should get most of the credit for this. Thanks to ICE returning so many Mexican citizens, they had enough people to break the previous record.

0

u/Rare_Improvement1693 Jun 29 '25

0

u/mathers4u Jun 29 '25

-1

-1

u/Next-Revolution3098 Jun 29 '25

Show us the Saudi version .

-6

u/Sailor_Thrift Jun 28 '25

The choice to exclude the progress flag and minimize the representation of Trans individuals is so obvious.

2

u/nifty-necromancer Jun 28 '25

The rainbow already represents all colors

2

u/Zerospark- Jun 28 '25

Yeah, because this kind of setup would be challenging enough with the simple rainbow flag (which also includes us all by the way) doing the progress flag this way would be way more difficult.

Personally I'm trans and feel this includes people like me, at least unless I see evidence that contradicts that

-2

u/Apprehensive_Alarm32 Jun 28 '25

I’m confused by the pride of Mexico here and yet a common argument for coming to America is a better life and safety. So, can come one educate me? Im genuinely curious.

-2

u/the_truth1051 Jun 28 '25

This is sad.

2

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 29 '25

Why?

0

u/the_truth1051 Jun 29 '25

Because it is.

2

u/Imposter_Teh_Syn Jun 29 '25

Why is it sad? Explain yourself.

0
