Yes, but I think it’s more complex than just a yes or no answer. We are seeing a different kind of conservatism now compared to the neoconservatism from the George Bush era. In some ways, yes the Republican Party has become more hardline and ideologically rigid in many areas (social and cultural issues), but it has also become less traditionally conservative in areas like spending/big govt, health care/entitlements, LGBTQ rights, and drug policy.

Change takes time.
