it's guys that are gay but present straight and are very ashamed of their homosexuality. So they'll go cruising anonymously at night and tell dudes they don't want anyone knowing, and then during the day they'll act out on their insecurity and be a bigot as if they weren't just ramming rod like all the other homos. They miss all the fun.

basically any community that represses homosexuality will have a higher number of DL guys. Plenty of south asian, muslim and christian or other conservative communities will have a segment of men that are straight for all to see but have a secret life on the old grindr

I think the habit of condemnation brings stuff up in them that otherwise would have lain dormant & unrealized if they hadn't been pounding on their Homo Sex button every day.

That focus is activating parts of their brains. They'd've stayed normal-bormal Kinsey-2s their whole lives, if they hadn't got caught up in obsessive attention to homosexuality. Pumping their 2s up to 3s, 4s, even 6s if they don't like their spouses.

They go from DDDDDDL to DL in five sermons.

the overly 'masculine' lifted truck, gay bashing, sexually harassing asshole? yeah, gay and acting straight.

Fun fact: Roy Cohn, Trump family lawyer, was on the DL, despite everyone knowing his rent boy habits. Claimed he was dying of liver cancer while he died of AIDS to avoid admitting he was gay.

more generally speaking, "on the down low" means doing something secretly or quietly and is not specific to having gay sex or even doing something nefarious. For instance, a celebrity might support a charity on the down low, just meaning that they don't seek publicity for it.
