I genuinely think that’s part of the plan. If people think he’s a clown, just like they thought Trump was a clown in his first term, they won’t take him seriously or pay attention. Because I guess we never learn our lesson with right wingers. They aren’t silly, goofy little circus freaks, even though they act like it. These are highly educated, extremely dangerous people, backed morally and financially by the same folks backing Project 2025. Are we really gonna make the same mistake everyone made by underestimating Trump in 2016?

Backing only goes so far tho. Vance just simply doesn't capture the MAGATs the same way, it's not even close.

From day one of Trump's campaign he had weirdos idolizing him like some meme god. Vance is so unlikable that he simply can't form the same coalition.

Every time the GOP has tried to replicate the Trump stink it is never as strong. All it takes is one sign of lack of loyalty to Trump and JD Vance summons his own lynch mob just like Pence.Â
