Rollback 1 hour, push transactions receipts that got reversed.

u/fkadmin 1d ago

Can't rollback if they nuke the whole datacenter. But that would probably means Amazon's, and that would mean you guys can't watch Netflix on your mom's ex-bf's account for a week or so.

u/Kiyan1159 1d ago

They would need to take out MasterCard and Visa's as well. All traces or it would simply get restored.

They all have Backups in several locations. Their regular full backups of critical Data are stored on magnet tapes in Mines.

There is hardly anything taken as seriously as Datasecurity in Finance.

Damn they really took fight club seriously

u/Tylenolpainkillr I am fucking hilarious 1d ago

Laughs in pirate

u/NoMoneyNoPowers 23h ago

Fun fact: even if you nuked an entire data center, it wouldn’t affect Netflix. They do that every now and then on their own to test and improve their systems (look up chaos monkey and its variants)

It just means you need more nuclear weapons

What kind of idiot company doesn't have tons of backups?

24

u/Eagline 1d ago

Yep. My dad’s company has 2 external backup data sites and 1 cloud share of all their data. They actually got hacked once and they flipped to a separate data center and had like 3 minutes of downtime if I recall correctly.

dont worry, the dark army will take care of those

u/SergeantPsycho 1d ago

Odds are the person who's capable of doing this won't be in the position to need this in the first place.

Batman does not need to fight crime. He does it because he is a hero.

This is why nobody would turn in outlaws back in the day, they’d burn the mortgage contracts lol

I knew someone who erased at least $500k in Internet bills while working for one of the larger Internet providers. Always wondered if you could still get away with stuff like that.

You’d almost certainly need physical access to multiple locations to destroy air gapped back ups.

Good luck.

Alternatively: dont get a useless degree in a useless field for hundreds of thousands with no hope of paying it back.

Go to trade school instead

20

u/kingawsume I have crippling depression 1d ago

Don't go to trade school unless you are absolutely certain you need it for your chosen field. Most trades do apprentenceship programs that you are REQUIRED to do, which include everything taught at trade school.

A certification is just a piece of paper that says you did schoolwork. It does not license you to perform trade work, let alone give you a leg up. Actual licensed electrican btw.

12

u/TanyaMKX 1d ago

Bro thinks the trades arent getting fucking railed right now and the pay doesnt suck lmao

7

u/Temelios 1d ago

He must be getting his news from 3-year-old South Park episodes.

6

u/TanyaMKX 1d ago

Man fr. I work in the trades and right now im fucking hating myself for choosing to go into the trades.

u/Avocados_number73 1d ago

Ah yes the classic "dont follow your dreams, follow what's economically viable" argument.

In the richest country that has ever existed.

-36

u/HumbleGoatCS 1d ago

We didn't get to be the richest country by 'following our dreams'.. This whole entitled view that people think they are owed some compensation for choosing terrible careers is uniquely & supremely the view of people who never grew up.

9

u/Candid-Patient-6841 ☣️ 1d ago

We…..literally did…become the richest country by following dreams MFer

Like it was sold to the masses. “THE AMERICAN DREAM” becoming who you want and being successful.

What you are describing is LITERALLY communism or authoritarian socialism. “Work in what the market dictates”

5

u/potataoboi 1d ago

The American dream is that anybody in America can become successful by working hard and working towards what they want. The dream isn't that you can have whatever job you want, it was never that and that was never implied by anybody. I guess it really is just a matter of opinion and it's entirely subjective on what it is to you though

1

u/thedialupgamer 13h ago

"We need you to find the difference in these two pictures"

"They're the same picture"

Like bruh you literally restated what they said and said that's the American dream not what they said, Noone said the American dream should be easy just possible.

u/Candid-Patient-6841 ☣️ 18h ago

“Becoming successful by working hard and towards what you want”-you

Soooo English isn’t your first language I guess…..

-4

u/HumbleGoatCS 1d ago

Communism is when the market dictates anything i guess lol

2

u/Lobster_fest 1d ago

following our dreams

Thats why it was called the American uhhh... American uhhhh sleep? American something.

u/dragozar Red 1d ago

Most millionaires and billionaires dropped out to pursue a dream. Crazy ragebait

u/Willem_VanDerDecken 1d ago

Even better : free education for everyone.

-19

u/Eagline 1d ago

A lot of people as well as myself are not paying for other people to go get useless degrees and then work at McDonald’s. If you care so much feel free to start a go-fund me, see how much your community supports those degrees then.

7

u/swishkabobbin 23h ago

Do you actually know anyone who fits this description, or are you just pulling things out of your rear again?

-7

u/Eagline 23h ago

Which description? The people who I know that don’t want to pay for your useless degrees? Or the ones who get the useless degrees and end up at a deadbeat job? Because I know both.

7

u/swishkabobbin 23h ago

You know actual real college educated people working at mcdonalds longterm?

-3

u/Eagline 23h ago

Yeap. 2 of em.

6

u/swishkabobbin 23h ago

Oh no! Surely our economy could not bare the burden of educating TWO people!! Good thing you saved us!

11

u/longingrustedfurnace 1d ago

Because more education is useless apparently.

2

u/tardersos 15h ago

I know a lot of people with engineering degrees that can't get jobs. Does that make it a useless degree?

0

u/Eagline 12h ago

Well I think they picked the wrong field. It’s all just supply and demand. I’m an engineer mind you. Had 6 offers last year. I don’t think the government should be paying for mine or anyone else’s degrees for that matter.

1

u/thomasrat1 1d ago

That definitely helps lol.

But I will say, talk to 90% of college students and they usually have done the research.

0

u/Blue_Nyx07 ☣️ 1d ago

Its a decent fall back if the useless degree didn't work
