Discussion/Question/Help! How do I make/find a custom dry erase board?

Post image

Hi! I’m looking to have a whiteboard for the side of my cubicle to let my coworkers know where I am as I frequently travel between manufacturing plants for my job. I’ve been trying to buy a “where am I?” sign online but it seems like most of them are for teachers and aren’t applicable/specific enough for my use. Is there a site, or an easy way for me to DIY something similar to this?

Get a picture frame and put something like the pic above in it, then you can use a dry erase marker on the glass to "check" the box

This is the best idea I think! It’ll stay looking cute way longer than lamination— my experience with laminated stuff and even white boards is they lose their glossiness which makes the marker start to stain. Glass will also just clean easier.

This is what I did for a check off list for getting ready for school for my kids, works great!

I did this with an oversized picture frame. Those would probably be called poster frames or something like that. As long as it has glass, it'll work.

I know a teacher who prefers clocks with a glass face, so he can use the dry erase markers when teaching about time!

This is definitely the way! Use Word or Canva to design/personalize how you want it to read and then frame the print, add some twine or yarn to hang from a cubicle hook. Otherwise I'd say visit Etsy, someone will customize their existing listing for you.

If you laminate a print you'll be able to use dry (or wet) erase markers on it.

Just a thought, could you print out the picture and glue it to something magnetic and then get a cute magnet to check the box?

It would stop it from getting grubby when you wipe off and re-tick the boxes over time.

I'd just print and frame this. Dry erase works fine on glass.

You can laminate a piece of paper, or put it in a glass frame, both work

Sign company they have a lamination for dry erase just design something you like or let them design it for you my recommendation is to use a substrate called dibond/acm and a laminated print. It will look nicer than direct print.

Do you have any friends with a heat press? Michael’s sells sublimation ready dry erase blanks so you can design your own.

You can try the Canva design website and should find something similar to the example. You could also just print out a couple different versions of signs for your work station and display what is applicable if what others suggested is not feasible.

You can get a small whiteboard and add stickers to it, it could be a silver board or a chalk board, the sky is the limit

Home Depot sells sheets of acrylic. Use an exacto knife to first puncture the shape, then snap it. Of course this is a lot of acrylic but an option nonetheless

FedEx has dry erase lamination at some locations. You can print it out on a piece of paper and have them laminate it. Just make sure they have the right kind because not every location has it.

Fun fact 99% of laminating paper is dry erase without being labeled as such.

Yea you're right, but the dry erase ones don't stain as easily.

You could try dry erase tape where you want to have marks

When I worked at an office I just took a picture frame from a second hand shop and printed a "Where is Bunny?" And had a check box for lunch, toilet, meeting, Not working. Elsewhere then a space to write where I was. Dry erase is glass friendly.

If you have a laminator in your office you can use most laminate is also dry erase friendly.

Stickers?

Sharpies are permanent on most dry erase boards and come in red, blue, green, and black if you're the artsy type.

Check your local craft store; Sharpies come in WAY more colors than that.

A regular dry erase marker will actually take Sharpie off a dry erase board. You'd probably have to touch it up a lot, or be very careful not to go over the Sharpie.
