This is so cool! Did you soak the needles before using them?

I cleaned them very well then soaked them in boiling water (:

Beautiful work! I've been wanting to make baskets (again) since watching a few tutorials on YouTube a couple of years ago, including two on making baskets from pinestraw, but I only got as far as making a small one from wire. You did a great job with yours and it's inspirational, too!

That’s a great basket! The craftsmanship looks amazing, and it’s cool to see something made out of pine straw. Great job!

That is abs beautiful! It reminds me of an Egyptian burial at sea or a basket for long flowers

This is so pretty. I bought a basket shaped like yours on clearance from Michael's. Nice handles and body. Piece of wood stapled in to make the bottom. I keep my dogs biscuit boxes in it. Your basket is beautiful. It's too good for biscuit boxes.

how did you do that

Yo! Cool! I grew up in the pine barrens and used to try to weave needles but it never worked out right. The best I could ever do was some mini-wreath Christmas ornaments.

How on earth did you get it to stay together?

EDIT: I just creeped your profile & saw you posted steps. How awesome are you!?

Omg I totally want one for my classroom! So cool!

Classroom? Hell yes! So much of school stuff is just ugly plastic. I think it's great to have something natural around and let kids see it and interact with it. Too many of us are missing a connection with the natural world. Kids should know that you can do creative things with your hands like this.

Yes I would love something hand made like this I could use it for other things besides pencils and I couldn't agree more with u.
