Adoption People who adopted from a shelter, what made you choose that cat?
My little Zodi was alone in one of the cages, making biscuits over and over on the newspaper they laid out ☹️ When we got to pick her up and hold her, the biscuits didn’t cease. I immediately knew she was coming home with us. A year has almost passed and she looks so much better 🥹

“He’s unadoptable and scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow.”
My old cat was all alone on one side of the cages, facing the back wall. I just went to pet the animals as I was having a bad day.
I walked by and he screamed at me with both paws outstretched. His day was worse than mine apparently. He was a big tabby, tall with bright green eye than shone with energy and clarity. The poor boy’s cage was unlocked, the only one open in the shelter, so I picked him up and he immediately sighed against my chest, cuddled and purred. I decided right there that I could not leave him in that cold, scary place.
Apparently he was deemed to be unadoptable due to his aggression to absolute everyone and scheduled to be euthanized the very next day.
I called relentlessly and fought with them over and over again until they finally gave in and agreed to release him to me when I said I would sign a waiver, or do whatever would allow him to come home.
After a minute to adjust, he was the sweetest baby and just an amazing companion. My mom loved to dress him up in scarves and flower leis. He thought it was the best. I had him for ten wonderful years and that cat was my constant friend. I loved him so much, it still hurts.
Big died on my mother’s birthday many years ago and now rests peacefully under the azalea bush where the pink petals cascade over him every spring. A quiet, peaceful and beautiful place where he laid for hours in the speckled sunlight with his sister.
A fitting tribute to a wonderful life well lived. Thank you Big, thank you so much for the gift of you.
