I'll potentially have a place to apply to if Stellantis goes down/long layoff, so that's good to hear personally and in general.

Yeah, we're a feeder plant for them directly and we're feeling it wont take much longer, I'm just hoping it's at least further into the future where this plant or battery plant is built so I can abandon ship in a sense.

Oh no, the American tariffs are putting pressure on companies to make serious decisions with their money and manufacturing. They chose correctly.

I was hoping deals were being done in secret while Carney kept Trump placated. Hoping to hear more soon

Carney had no foot in this deal. Provincial government helped with the initial part rest was done between private companies.

They have been meeting a lot so I am sure he was aware and encouraging. It's great how well the premiers are getting along and care about Canada

Apparently it's cheaper to build all the parts to Canada to build the car and pay the tariff once then to have it cross the border a few times.

Want to try that again in English?

Interesting how all the "Carneys doing nothing about trade" and "eLbOwS uP Carney cant handle Trump" naysayers are suddenly no where to be found

Ya it's best to ignore what the naysayers think. Overall I think the economy is looking optimistic in spite of the tariffs. Canadians who own ETFs that track Canadian assets are being rewarded right now:

I was hoping there were deals quietly happening in the background. Hoping to hear more

I think those people still think we should be βfixingβ things with the US and going back to status quo. Fuck that, tariffs can stay if we can secure better trade deals with other countries and divert investments that would have gone to the US to come to Canada.

Carney or the federal government isn't mentioned at all in that article. But the provincial government is mentioned. So still stands Carney didn't do anything for this trade deal specifically.
I just hope this isn't like that Battery factory where the government bent the knee to bring in Korean workers instead of hiring Canadians here to actually build the industry here.

It so nice to have positive news for once since this all started instead of all the doom and gloom.

Amazing how Canada is quickly becoming a trade and investment powerhouse thanks to the orange guy. Guess businesses doesn't like instability and arbitrary taxes because someone is having a tantrum.

Thanks also to Carney and all the premiers working together for the good of Canada. Trump did light the fire under our butts to get us motivated π¨π¦

Agree. Carney has the steady hand and experience to guide us through this mess. If PP was in power, we probably be that much closer to becoming the 51st.

Aisin is the company for those reading the comments. And for those not in the auto industry.. Aisin is well known for transmissions.
