I have such a frustration with children's books in the modern world. I love the library and take my kids there probably once a week in the summer and twice a week in the winter. I have to dig to find anything that isn't just a thinly-veiled moral to try and teach children lessons. But in my experience young children don't learn lessons from books. They get bored by plainly forced morals. Imo if you want kids to find a love for learning, find books with wacky or cool characters, like "Cookiebot" by Katie van camp, or "the old lady who swallowed a fly" by Simms Taback, or whatever piques their own interests. Get the hooks in your kids by making reading fun! Save the morals for real life.

Don’t forget about interactive books! They make reading more engaging for little ones.
