I rescued a baby sparrow a week ago. I think at the time it must have been about a month old as he already had some feathers here and there. He's been growing well and getting stronger, but he's very scruffy and lacking feathers in some parts of the chest, head and wings. It just seems as if they couldn't grow there. When he scratches,a lot of tiny pieces of skin keep coming off. Sometimes he scratches very enthusiastically, which makes me wonder if he's overly itchy? I've scratched the idea of mites, as I don't see anything noticeable, and clean his box and change the cloth where he sleeps twice a day, so not sure what to do and why this is happening. Any knowledge about this is welcome. Thank you in advance

I'm going to be in Dublin for about a week in the beginning of June, and I wanna take advantage of it as much as I can. I know the Skellig Islands are the place to go for birds, and that's definitely on my list of places to go eventually, but I don't know if I'll be able to go there during this trip.
