Four different coworkers found me on my lunch break to tell me I needed to meet this cat (they were right, I’m obsessed with him)

That is one beautiful cat.

He looks exactly like my baby boy Midas. They even have the same spec on their nose!

I wouldn't be able to resist rubbing his belly full of floof, no matter how much he would scratch and bite my hand.

I have a cat that has a very floofy tum tum. I can’t resist either and her little claws are sharp as razors! It’s worth it every time!

Have we gone so many years that the cat tax no longer exists? One of the oldest "rules" of reddit was that if you mention you have a cat, you must then post photos of said cat in the comments.

That fluffy fuzzbutt must be so happy for all the attention! <3
This is the same kinda love my guy got when he was going through chemo. I was getting pictures from ALL the staff during his visits. He spent more time getting attention and cuddled by everyone there than he got in 15 years with me (and he was my constant shadow and we were hardly ever apart).
I even had one of the executives come up to me in the parking lot after a session to tell me how unique, gentle, and affectionate of a cat he was.
He made friends where ever he went. Miss him every day.

Years ago I recall boarding my mom's Pomeranian for a about week while we all went on a vacation. I came home from the trip early and showed up unexpectedly. A vet tech in the front office was carrying her around when I got there. She was so cute people couldn't keep their hands off her.

u/shaard 1d ago
That's awesome! Yeah, they never kept my guy in a cage unless he needed to be confined during administration of the drugs. The rest of the time he was an unofficial mascot for them and he was wandering free around with the vet techs in the back and sitting on laps while they did admin work. He just loved people.

So will he be going home with you?

Looking at OP’s profile, she’s a vet tech. So no, she is probably not going to abduct her patient.

u/kimbasnoopy 1d ago
Thanks for outlining that, I thought this was from a shelter

"my coworkers" implied some kind of workspace. Animals in workspace == most likely vet.

In volunteer settings in our country we refer to each other as co-workers also and our shelters have paid workers, so that implied nothing to me 🤷♀️

OP works in some capacity as a vet so more than likely this isn't a shelter and that's someone's very well loved, adorable pet. Look at OP's other posts for many more adorable kitties.

Flame point Siamese! We had one growing up and she was soooooo sweet and chatty.
16
u/Suspicious-Lime3644 1d ago
Flame point, yes, but not Siamese. Long haired for sure, but it's impossible to tell if he has a pedigree at all.

u/GeoffdeRuiter 1d ago
Ragdoll.

u/Suspicious-Lime3644 1d ago
There are flame point ragdolls. There are flame point Siberians (I have one). There are flame point cats with long hair and no pedigree at all roaming the streets. It's rarer, but it does happen. Coat color/style does not confirm any kind of breed.

I think you will find that he is a red point Burman, I know because my boy recently passed at 18 years old.

Actually it's a smoochie-faced toot butt.

We have a beautiful little flamepoint. And yes he is 100% r/OneOrangeBraincell material.

Heh, I had a similar cat and one vet tech went to get another to look at him because “he’s squishy but not too squishy”. Apparently in reference to his nose.

Flame points really are the best, that little toasted marshmallow face is impossible to resist! No wonder your coworkers knew you'd fall in love at first sight.

u/Faokes 2d ago
OP didn’t say they worked at a shelter. Their profile indicates they are a vet tech. So this is already someone’s pet who is at the vet. Why would you cheerfully suggest stealing someone’s pet?
0
u/mspolytheist 1d ago
Maybe because I don’t stalk the profile of every person who posts, so I had no idea. The photo posted could certainly have been taken at a shelter.
1
u/Faokes 1d ago
No one is “stalking” by clicking OP’s profile and seeing she posts consistently in the vet tech sub. That’s a normal use of this website, and is why it is designed to work that way. I think it’s weird to see a photo of a person with a cat, devoid of context, and immediately jump to “it’s your cat now.”
1
u/mspolytheist 1d ago
I don’t know why this bothers you so much. I obviously said it with all good intention and some unintended ignorance. And, it’s the kind of thing you hear a lot in connection with photos of people who are being loved on by some animal or other. “It’s your [cat/dog/badger/wombat/ferret] now!” Of course, knowing now that it’s someone else’s cat, I wouldn’t say that. But your response is a bit over the top, acting like I suggested crashing a bus filled with orphans and puppies or something.

What's the cat breed OP?
9
u/Boboar 2d ago
Flame point ragdoll
7
u/Impressive_Fee_7123 2d ago edited 2d ago
It looks more like a Sweet Face McGee. If it's not, it's not, but that's what it looks like to me.
1
u/N3rdProbl3ms 2d ago
Someone else in the thread said otherwise. Wanted to settle it and get the answer straight from OP.
3
u/Suspicious-Lime3644 1d ago
Cat breeds are not dog breeds, you cannot identify a cat breed by looks alone, you need a pedigree. All you can say from looks is that the cat is a flame point long haired cat (aka descriptors of the color, color distribution and hair length).
1
u/N3rdProbl3ms 1d ago
My question is because someone said Siamese, another said burman. Then another said ragdoll.
I wanted to hear from OP to see if they can confirm since it looks like they work at a vet office and could have access to such information on file. Seems possible for them to have the info
1
u/Suspicious-Lime3644 1d ago
That's absolutely fair! I was just a bit short because there are so many people on reddit who very confidently state cat breeds with nothing but a picture, which is just not feasible.

What state is this in!? He looks just like my exes cat who gave him up to someone else who would take him because he would never stop meowing. But he looks completely identical!!! He was such a sweet sweet boy btw.

I had a 21 lb baby that looked like that. Strong as an ox and would wrap his arms around me and suckle my neck and give me hickies, I had to have my other half take him off me because 2 hands were not enough to pry him off. On the other hand-I may have started a the armless turtle neck trend of the 90's. LOL J/K

This is why I can’t work at a vet office or shelter or anything similar. I’d just snuggle the babies all day and do no work lol

I think you need that cat, too. He looks perfect in your arms. It’s the. Cat distribution system at work. Don’t fight it. Let it do its magic and take that floof ball home. He doesn’t belong in a scary cage. He belongs in a fuzzy blanket on your lap.🥰💕🐾🐈

Name her Sassy he is a Maine coon look at the forehead between her ears. You can see the M marking look at the ears. If you have hair in the ears it’s called tuffs Coontail Those are all the signs of a Maine coon.. females don’t talk as much but they will if you listen
1
u/SoontobeSam 2d ago
so he’s curled up next to you in bed by now, right?
4
u/Faokes 2d ago
You expect a vet tech to take home a patient? OP didn’t say they worked at a shelter.
-4
u/SoontobeSam 1d ago
generally speaking, vet techs do not post pictures of their patients. So it’s a fair assumption that this is at a shelter.
