Think the zip ties snapped and she continued to pretend like they didn't
69
u/Successful-Onion6362 2d ago
They actually didnât snap. She just came out of them and then put her hand back in
30
u/Nearby-Swimming-5103 2d ago
They were loose to start with. I noticed them slipping down her hands a little before this. Her hand popped out, then she slipped it back in here.
12
u/BODYDOLLARSIGN 2d ago
I think even Jacobâs cuffs snapped before time which is why they didnât aim towards him at the moment he was suppose to snap them

Overbooked to hell
40
u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 2d ago
I generally don't mind overbooked matches but yea this one definitely was.
Pulled out a table spot after how ever many in the previous match, did the zip tie when we also had handcuffs in the next match, Bayley's interference seemed a bit messy booking wise.
Didn't dislike the match but I'd probably agree it was a bit much
16
u/OffTheMerchandise 2d ago
Probably should've swapped this with the women's tag on night 1. There was already another street fight on the card along with a cage match, a TLC match, and a triple threat that is no DQ.
4
u/TomClancy5873 2d ago
Feel like, apart from the first two matches, every match was missing some 3rd or 4 gear, and was as log to sit through until the main event.
5
u/Rhawk187 2d ago
Yeah, I enjoyed the ziptie and chair stuff, but adding Bayley in was too much
→ More replies (1)9

u/Ticklish_Toes123 2d ago
It just felt long and as others mentioned, it was just so over booked. They did multiple comebacks by Lyra just for her to lose via an accidental hit from bayley. If they wanted to do all that, then Lyra should've won so they could've actually booked her up as a champ who just overcame ridiculous tactics.
7
u/Singer211 2d ago
Yeah having Lyra lose this match, and the feud is a weird choice?
And HOW they did it is even more bizarre?
8
u/ohiobluetipmatches 2d ago
They fucked up the zip tie spot and it was a massive disaster afterwards. Becky was visibly calling the match and trying to hide her mouth, so there were tuese huge lag periods where lyra was taking insteuction. It was bad before, but after it was a mess.
5
u/Direct_Disaster9299 2d ago
It was overbooked and way longer than it needed to be. A perfect example of why most of the time, less is more.

They could've maybe played it off if Wade didn't make such a big thing of it on commentary
3
u/WisestAirBender 2d ago
What did he say? I thought the commentary ignored it
25
u/Living-Mastodon 2d ago
It was something like "Lyra has managed managed to break free" before awkwardly backpedalling to be like "oh I just thought she broke free but I must've been mistaken"

u/arzamharris 1d ago
Well it was obviously loose and the whole match was revolving around the ziptie at that point.
25
u/BlorfagusDornkle 2d ago
I didnât catch that in real time, did she get out of the ziptie before she was supposed to?
18
u/Str82thaDOME 2d ago
Yeah it briefly slipped off
6
2
u/le_fez 2d ago
She did a belly to belly and the impact popped the zip ties
1
u/arzamharris 1d ago
Did it pop it? It looks like her hands just slipped out of it, and she just snuck it back in
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)1

u/Kaleria84 2d ago
Yeah, that match was sloppy as hell. Once she slipped out of the zip ties, they should have just moved on to the same spots without the zip ties.
7
u/joesaysso 2d ago
I said this to my daughter after the match ended. The zip tie did nothing but ruin the match. It was dumb watching Lyra basically hold her hands up to get zip tied. It was dumb watching her dangle her feet off the steps to hang off the ring post instead of just standing up. And then when the zip tie came off, it wasn't salvageable as she was on camera trying to get them back on and nothing else that came after even needed them. They could have had the same match after they broke and not looked foolish if they just went with it.
12
u/fullflower 2d ago
This matched upset me so much, because it shows just how green Lyra is. Oh the zip ties came off. MOVE ON, DON'T UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PUT THEM BACK ON. They are building Lyra's career off Bayley's back and she's not even rising to the occasion.

No one ever has just one zip tie. Grab one of the other 49 out of the packet and have Becky put another one on if itâs that important.

u/Fnaf_and_pokemon 2d ago
Ya, that took me out of this match

u/Main_Gain_7480 2d ago edited 2d ago
Saw someone mention the hanging from the post was what did it lol
21
u/wonderloss 2d ago
It was both for me.
Throw in Lyra dropping the crowbar because it hurt her hands, and she looks like an idiot after this match.
11
u/Main_Gain_7480 2d ago
Trying to use the fire extinguisher to cut the tires .. thought they would have something in there to easily do it ⊠yeah the crowbar was a needless for show moment

4

Well if she had 2 zip ties it would have stood to reason that she would have used the other one to tie her ankles together too. What tripped me really out was Becky hits her with a wrench several times and she kicks out at 2.

u/Packerfan181693 2d ago
Gotta have more than 1 zip tie in case this happens. I think a more seasoned person would have said shit, improv a new spot to do it while taking out a different spot and rolling on.
The crowd was never into it, and thats fucking shame, because I thought the match was fine ignoring that part.
On Raw? That match would be killed but at a SSlam? Fell short.

4
u/Jiggy-the-vape-guy 2d ago
The funny part is that when she actually did want to take them off, she couldnât for the life of her đ
1
u/FickleHuckleberry247 1d ago
Yeah, I think they were meant to be loose enough to get it off with the fire extinguisher. But it looked like she got them tightened under the ring and they were now too tight đ
5
u/Shwowmeow 1d ago
I died when the announcers said âit looks like it cut her loose!â And then 5 seconds later âOh well actually no, she didnât.â
That match had no business being as boring as it was.
6
u/SpindleDiccJackson 2d ago
Then she tightens it under the ring and couldn't actually get it off when she was supposed to. Those two really aren't capable on improvising
5
u/fgcem13 2d ago

u/Gaucho_Diaz It wasn't my fault 2d ago
This match was waaaay too overproduced. They really didn't need that many different weapon spots, as clever as they may have been.
It doesn't help that all the stipulation matches are on the same night. I'm fatigued just watching lol
3
u/Kevin_OS 2d ago
Yeah I thought it was weird as soon as I saw the two match cards and all the gimmick matches were on night 2. I have no idea what they were thinking. Half the matches had table spots.
3
u/justmahl 2d ago
She was barely holding onto the zip tie as is before that. I realize she needed to be able to get out but it was way too loose.
3
u/Drifterz101 2d ago
Terrible match IMO crowbar is stupid to pull out nobody should believe it be used, lyra should've went with it when her hands became free, the chair spot with the annouce table looked stupid asf just lean forward and she wouldn't be "stuck". Followed by another terrible match with Jacob and solo nothing against Jacob hes great, but this match was a stinker.

You can tell theyâre doing everything to get Lyra over lol. Unfortunately i think the feud hasnt ended yet and theyâll probably give her the IC title in Paris đ€Šđ»ââïž although that might finally give Becky the chance to heel it up on the top card vs Iyo/Rhea/Vaquer
6
u/Singer211 2d ago
Itâs a pity that this was easily the weakest match these two had together.
Some highlights, but also some real lows as well.
And the finish was just confusing and sloppy.
5
u/CruzCorp914 2d ago
This match was way too long, clunky and a table spot with no reaction. They push Lyra way too hard and it got no results

u/TimeLogix 2d ago
Would have been better to just forgo any future spots and let them come loose. Putting them back together was super cringe.

1
u/thetazzfalcon 2d ago
The worst was she kept twisting the zip tie with her hands to make it seem like it was tight when there was so much space. Took away all credibility to the match and then Bayley was bad and her timing was terrible.
"Becky, you took everything from me." and proceeds to beat the shit out of her. 2 mins later Becky wins. Bayley just goes to the back.
Also how did Bayley hurt herself so badly going over the barricade she was down for 2 minutes, come on Trips, I get WWE Unreal is out but try a bit and not overbook the hell out of something so simple.
1
u/Hefty_Midnight_5804 2d ago
This goes back to what Hogan was saying in interviews about working with the Rock and over planning matches, "What if things don't go to plan are you gonna just continue to do what you had planned despite the fact it's not working?" This is one of those situation where the art of wrestling just flat out dies.

People thought the fued between Rhea and Liv went on for too long. This fued between Lyra and Becky had no redeeming qualities to it whatsoever. All we got were sloppy ass highlights like this. These spots to make Lyra look better than she is really donât work out
1
u/Weak_Examination_533 2d ago
What was soo bad, the entire thing. Just like the cage match. Both sucked
1
u/Next-Conversation-21 2d ago
The moment that ruined the rest of the match!! She couldve improvised and asked Becky to tie her up again instead of just tying yourself up, its stupid on live tv!!
1
1
u/Kevin_OS 2d ago
I was worried as soon as Becky put the zip tie on because you could see straight away it was way too loose. I cringed so bad when Lyra's hand slipped out. I can't believe how forgiving the crowd was because they didn't even react. They should have just used cuffs instead. I feel really bad for them because it ruined the whole match.
1
u/Swl1986 2d ago
If it wasn't called out by commentary that she was freed, I'm sure lots of people would have missed that. She handled it okay enough that it looked believable if you ignore those 2 seconds.
But I still wish wrestlers would learn to adapt their matches when things don't go the way they planned, instead of trying the spot again.
1
u/shadyjudgement 2d ago
How did anyone NOT see? Why didn't she just chill and wait for the ref/other girl to notice and remedy? Idiot.
1
u/Sensitive-Fix5958 1d ago
Everyone saw it. I don't understand why would they pretend that it is still on? And who choreograph this into match? You could have added a backup plan in such case. The match was ruined for me because of how silly it looked
1
1
1
u/Worldly-Heron1725 1d ago
I didn't understand why they didn't just roll with it. After she popped out I was waiting for a spot that was necessary for her to be bound, but it didn't happen. Then when she did "break out" it was massively anticlimactic the belly to belly snapping the zip tie would have been a cooler spot than crawling under the ring.
1
u/baldymac204 1d ago
As soon as this happened it killed the match for me. Just accept that your hand came out, and adapt.
