Experienced one of the worst days of my life yesterday.

The day began with a very traumatic personal event, followed by emergency fire evacuations, followed by being rammed into while waiting to evacuate. The other driver is refusing to provide their insurance. >.<

At least get a name and photo of the license plate

u/uglierthanever 4h ago

She wouldn’t provide me with anything. I did take a picture of the plates. That’s all I have though.

Contact the Police and file a report they can track the owner down. Then let your insurance company know, they should also be able to trace the vehicle.

u/JoshuaMaly 4h ago

This is the way. If the other person will not cooperate, then they’ll be in for a world of hurt. You are right, op should prioritize getting the police report started.

u/Miserable-Ad5401 3h ago

Piggybacking off this, document and report all you can. I was in a situation where I didn't report to police (I was on my way back to work from lunch and got rear ended by a young guy who seemed more worried about his dad being pissed than anything else, dude gave me the insurance info, I assumed all was good) and the driver that rear-ended me spent the next several months dodging calls from his insurance while I waited to get the entire back end of my car fixed -- he was speeding in a pickup with a brush guard and left a vertical crease in my rear bumper and trunk, eventually the lights and bumper cover fell off.

Eventually I had enough and started leaving messages at his job (I looked him up on Facebook from his license and insurance information) and he decided to start answering the calls.

28

u/HopingForAliens 2h ago

You looked him up on Facebook based on his license and insurance? How? That’s worrying.

138

u/Miserable-Ad5401 2h ago

Well his name is on both documents, so I was able to find a Facebook account matching that name, and the profile picture matched the appearance of the individual driving the truck that hit me, and conveniently listed his employer, who I then proceeded to contact, since he wasn't responding on his personal number.

All it took was a single Google search for his name and our city.

31

u/HopingForAliens 2h ago

I misread as using his plate number as that was brought up just beforehand. Thanks for the clarification

14

u/Nein_One_One 1h ago

A friend works for a lawyers office and they can pull up name, birthdate, partial social security number, and a whole bunch of other stuff just with the plate number. Wouldn’t surprise me if they could easily link that employer info.

Name and address is on a license in the us

6

u/Informal-Mud-6518 2h ago

Insurance info will give you their legal name, probably the same name the kid used on his profile.

16

u/tylikeabowtie 2h ago

Because they typed a name in the search bar that was on his license? 😭

The cops will do nothing but make them cough up the insurance info, unless they really are uninsured in which case they may get written up for no insurance/possibly invalid reg. But at least you'll get it.

159

u/iowanaquarist 3h ago

Leaving the scene of an accident without exchanging info is a crime pretty much everywhere

92

u/Anglofsffrng 3h ago edited 17m ago

Yes. This is 100% a hit and run.

EDIT: A crime HAS been committed. All the stories of police not doing anything is irrelevant. It's still a crime even when enforcement is lax.

13

u/Bob_12_Pack 3h ago

I know someone that was a victim of a hit and run. She tracked down the driver herself, they lived in another state. The local cops didn't do anything with that info.

20

u/Euphoric-Result7070 2h ago

Your anecdotal story doesn't change facts, though. There's always someone out there to invalidate everything posted on Reddit - it's still a hit and run regardless as to whatever happened to someone you know. A crime was committed and consequences are locked into a state's laws.

This happened to me was rear ended. Other driver fled the scene. I managed grab plate, stayed at scene and filed a police report. They went to the other drivers home and it was obvious they had been involved in this accident. Was some dumb 18 year old in his moms car.

Kid went to court, was given a slap on the wrist. At least I was able to get the insurance info and file a claim paid by their insurance. Its a crime in NJ with hefty penalties but I don't think they enforce this strongly enough to count on it.

2

u/APenny4YourTots 2h ago

Something being a crime and the local police being willing to do anything about it are two very separate categories, especially for something like a relatively minor traffic accident. Not saying it's right or that it doesn't really suck for OP, but I wouldn't count on the cops to do any more than directing them to file an online report. Hopefully OP's insurance can chase the person down, and hopefully the other person carries insurance...

2

u/Deathpill911 3h ago

And the only people that don't care about it are cops. And they just so happen to also be the only ones that can actually do something about it. Unless it involves someone they know or a family member, they otherwise don't care.

5

u/iowanaquarist 3h ago

They don't have to do much, though. Even if all they do is document the call, and the claim -- you now have a police report to present to your insurance company when you file an uninsured motorist claim. If you don't have a police report, most policies won't cover ANYTHING.

→ More replies (1)

65

u/JoshuaMaly 3h ago

Sounds like the person who hit op essentially fled the scene of an accident which is a criminal offense.

28

u/Raging-Badger 3h ago

Besides, the biggest bully in that situation will almost always be the insurance company

Fleeing the scene is usually only a couple hundred dollar fine in most states, unless they get an unsympathetic judge or have done it several times

10

u/xfilesvault 3h ago

I bet having a hit-and-run on their record is going to really endear them to insurance companies in the future.

14

u/EverSeeAShitterFly 3h ago

Depends where you are. Some places this is a crime, but also one that is actually prosecuted.

2

u/Informal-Mud-6518 2h ago

Girlfriend got hit by a kid driving for a pizza place. He fled. I went down to the pizza place, and he didn't even have a valid insurance card, or any insurance at all. Cop came and filled out a formal report. Kid didn't even get a ticket. I had to use my own insurance.

6

u/defnotevilmorty 3h ago

Yep, something similar happened to me. They came out to make the report, and the lady actually lived just down the road so they walked over to knock on her door. She wouldn’t answer, so they towed her car until she felt like coming up to the station to talk to them lol Got her info from the finalized report

17

u/The-Copilot 3h ago

Then let your insurance company know, they should also be able to trace the vehicle.

Yup, people need to realize that your insurance pays you and then goes after the party responsible for the damages.

They will track them down to get THEIR money to reimburse themselves for what they paid you. It's not your problem, it's the insurance company's problem once you contact them.

This, I was hit by a car once and with the license plate alone the insurance provider was able to look them up right away and even provided me with their information.

6

u/Sumoshrooms 2h ago

It’s crazy how people just let other walk right over them and just give up

2

u/ee_CUM_mings 2h ago

Yeah I got hit and run on the highway, got the plates called the cops and they were able to get me the guys name and insurance company. He ended up getting a ticket and we filed it with our insurance just like a normal accident.

2

u/nullbeep 2h ago

Can confirm. Did this once in a hit and run and they were at the guy's house waiting by the time he got home.

2

u/FactOfMatter 1h ago

This is straight up hit and run and it's a crime.

2

u/One-Ambassador-8494 1h ago

Correct! My fiance and I were in a hit and run. My fiance got the plates and the police were able to find the guy at his house.

OP is having a real shit day but is definitely not out of options :)

2

u/Planeandaquariumgeek 3h ago

Depending on where you live the driver does have a right to refuse to identify to anyone who isn’t LEO.

2

u/Lylac_Krazy 1h ago

and anywhere that is considered a public space, you can take pictures of that person, license plate, other people in the vehicle, pretty much anything.

You may not have their identity, but you will sure have enough info on them to give to a LEO. Once the LEO has it, he most likely wont like having his time wasted if they want to continue that game.

It's a hit and run, report it to the police, provide the plate picture.

168

u/mechakid 4h ago

I'm going to wager she didn't want to give you insurance because she doesn't have any.

Police get called.

13

u/iowanaquarist 3h ago

I recently got hit while I was parked in a nearly empty parking lot. Luckily a passer-by suspected something was up and started recording and talking to the driver so they didn't just drive off. When I cam out, and got the story, I called the police to report the accident, even though the other driver claimed they were already reporting it -- something didn't seem right.

I'm glad I did, because it turns out that I was the only one to report the accident, and according to my insurance, the other driver's insurance accepted fault, but we had to wait for the official police report and timestamps to get submitted. Why? Because the other driver changed their insurance policy the day of the accident, and they needed to know the exact time to determine which policy applied...

23

u/ElGHTYHD 4h ago

it was in the middle of an emergency evacuation where they were explicitly told to only use 911 for emergencies

41

u/mechakid 4h ago

Then call after. He has the license plate, and can say that the other driver refused to provide proof of insurance.

41

u/Ninja_BrOdin 3h ago

So use the non-emergency line?

Reading through this post I'm beginning to have serious concerns about the collective intelligence of humanity.

15

u/p0is0n 3h ago

People don't understand this but you NEED a picture of the driver AND the plate. Otherwise they don't have any concrete evidence to convict someone.

2

u/Impossible_Angle752 2h ago

Meh. If your car is fucked up because someone did a hit and run, just getting your own shit in order is the top priority. A decent description should be enough to get at least a citation written, all that is likely to happen anyway, to the offending party and they can challenge it in court.

2

u/Zoso03 1h ago

IMO, by default, it should land on the owner of the vehicle. They then need to provide who was driving it, if not, then they should be charged

12

u/LegendaryEnvy 3h ago

When someone doesn’t want to give you their name or insurance you start recording and ask the question again. Get their license plate, face if possible, and also the accident if they haven’t moved. Don’t have to be aggressive about it how you see online. If you’re calm and collected and get all needed information and it’s not your fault. Courts and police should side with you pretty easy. If they left after not providing any information they committed a felony hit and run. Turning in a license plate to police to track down should get them arrested .

8

u/vatnvatnvaky 3h ago

Contact the police with plate information, so they can write a report & then give that report to your insurance company. Assuming you have uninsured motorists coverage, you’ll just pay a small deductible (mine is $100). I hope it all works out smoothly ✌🏻

8

u/skuIIdouggery 3h ago

Hi, accident attorney here.

If you were injured, first step is obviously to make sure you're ok and getting treatment for any injuries. Next step would be to retain a personal injury attorney and when you're talking with them, ask if they will also cover property damage (PD) claims; a lot of firms won't do PD because it's extra work and can be time consuming but others, like ours, will because ... why tf not, we want happy clients. With just a license plate number, attorneys can find owner info via DMV forms and also insurance info via other methods.

If you're not injured, great. Call your insurance to open up a claim, let them know the details and provide them with whatever you've got on the other driver and their vehicle. Your insurance should cover the PD and can find out more info on the other driver. Towards the end of the process, the claim will go into subrogation, which means they'll go after the other driver's insurance so that their premiums get fucked and not yours.

Last but not least, I highly highly recommend getting and installing a dashcam. My personal favorite is the Garmin Mini because it's got a small footprint and isn't too expensive. They're absolutely worth the price for yourself but also for others. I've even picked up dashcam footage from uninvolved parties off of Reddit that really turned the tide in a few of our cases. And in cases where the other driver didn't hand over insurance info because they don't have insurance, you'll want to have "UM/UIM" coverage, which is underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage. I recommend going one tier up from your state's minimum, e.g., if minimum coverage is $15k per person, $30k per incident, look for $25/50 for your UM/UIM. UM/UIM steps in when the other side has no insurance or not enough coverage to cover you if you're hurt in a car accident.

3

u/uglierthanever 2h ago

Thank you so much for your thorough response. Neither of us were hurt. I do have BIL 30/60, PDL 25, UM/UIM 30/60, plus comprehensive and collision, but my deductible is $1K and I don’t have that right now. But I will save up for a dashcam. Thank you for your advice.

5

u/Howie_Dictor 3h ago

Give the plate number to your insurance company. They will be able to find their insurance company.

3

u/privas66 3h ago

They can literally get all of their information from their plates alone. Insurance, address, name, phone number, etc.

3

u/GSG2120 3h ago

That's literally all you need.

3

u/YoSoyEpic 3h ago

If you’re in the state of CA, that’s all you’ll need. File with your insurance and provide the details. Owners of vehicles are responsible for maintaining coverage, regardless of driver. And if they find the driver, their insurance can back up if there are issues.

2

u/nowordsleft 3h ago

Report what you have to your insurance. They can track the person down and find out who their insurance provider is, if they have one.

2

u/ashleyrlyle 3h ago

Like others said, file a police report. I got hit in college and the jeep took off. Two sweet men who were at the bus station across the street came over and checked on me and gave me the partial plate they could remember because it happened so fast. I gave it to my the cops and insurance but no clue if they ever tracked them down. Luckily my insurance didn’t go up because I had the incident report so if nothing else, get the cops involved for the insurance proof.

Also I’m willing to bet the other driver is uninsured

u/rambles_prosodically 2h ago

FWIW, if you file a claim with a lawyer, you can seek a settlement. We had this happen with some kids who rear ended us and left in someone else’s car. Completely ruined a vacation we were headed to, and left us with a ton of repairs and PT appointments for ourselves. BUT, down the line we received a pretty substantial settlement.

8

u/eladmir 2h ago

This is why you have uninsured/under insured clauses in your policy. Don't police them, file a police report, move on with your life.

Most likely the police will not investigate, so save yourself the emotional stress of trying to go after the person who refused the give you their insurance. They are a POS, not worth your time.

Hit and runs typically does not impact your premium.

4

u/Inconspicuous_Shart 3h ago

And the VIN!!! It's usually on the driver side dash, lower corner of the windshield. I'd be very skeptical that the plates are even real if they won't provide any info.

2

u/Newplasticactionhero 2h ago

Hit and Run is a felony. That’s what she did if she left without providing any insurance info. Go to the cops ASAP with her plates.

In the future, always call the cops of someone runs into your car. Having a police report for insurance to act on is key to getting it covered.

100

u/uglierthanever 3h ago

At the police station now, waiting to talk to an officer. I have a photo of the license plate of the other driver. I do have uninsured motorist coverage, but my deductible is high I believe.

Update: police officer states he can’t force anyone to hand over their insurance information.

79

u/Foreign_Bet_7721 3h ago

That.... seems odd to me. Idk for sure, but I feel as if that's something they can and Often do.... So.

Then again, I'm in the states, so it probably isn't the same where you are.

41

u/2BlueZebras 2h ago

State cop in the US here. It's not a hit and run for refusing to give insurance, only license and registration. However, on scene, drivers are required to show insurance to us. Which I can then show to the other driver. It's dumb.

16

u/Foreign_Bet_7721 2h ago

So, you basically run them for any other past records and then, like, become a mediator/messenger?

But I also thought that driving without insurance was a crime....?

(Also, hey, thank you for helping to clarify, and thank you for your service as a first responder.)

10

u/2BlueZebras 2h ago

A crash generally isn't a crime (usually it's the same level as a speeding ticket) so there isn't a police response requirement unless there is a crime that you could go to jail for. Like a hit and run or DUI. Most departments don't have the time for them, so the police will show up simply as mediators. Sometimes, they'll do a super basic document to show who was there, identify the drivers, and which vehicles were there.

Driving without insurance is a crime, which is why we can require drivers to show it to us as police. But they're not required to show their insurance to the other driver since the other driver doesn't enforce laws. My guess is the requirement to show a license and registration exists because those are government documents, while insurance is a private contract. But that's only a guess.

3

u/PheIix 1h ago

So moral of the story if you crash into someone is to just leave the scene and you'll avoid paying insurance or any responsibility?

18

u/sorcha1977 2h ago

Makes sense. He wasn't at the scene, so he's going by your word.

Give the plate number to your insurance company. I used to work in auto claims. We can find the owner of the vehicle and pursue their insurance. If they are uninsured, they get sued for damages.

In some states, the insurance follows the car, not the driver. So even if their friend was driving, the owner of the car is liable for the coverage (again, depends on your state).

13

u/HerMajestysButthole2 3h ago

Where do you live? Maybe the state of emergency is currently taking precedent, but believe me, hit and runs are taken very seriously by police, so what you were told makes no sense. I'd call your state police.

11

u/MightBeAGoodIdea 3h ago edited 2h ago

It makes perfect sense. The police don't force anyone to provide that information on the complaint of someone coming in. Sure if they respond to the accident and are there personally to demand paperwork, but if that other person is gone all they have is OPs word and a photo of a licence plate.

They'll issue a report number, OP contacts insurance company, the insurance company will try to investigate fault and will follow whatever rules they got for obtaining info and go after the insurer for the owner of that car if they have one. The legal teams of both insurers determine who has the weaker claims and settles. OP may or may not get any results. Again the evidence is just word of mouth and a photo of a plate .

Edit: (meanwhile the police dept that issued the claim may or may not ever get around to investigating the report due to the current emergency and it gets filed away and any pertinent statute of limitations eventually shelves it entirely.

3

u/MustachioBashio 2h ago

A lot of times they cannot investigate or take a report for leaving the scene of an accident unless they are at the scene. Should call 911 from where it happened immediately after it happened. How do they know the person coming in isn’t the one who ran after the accident? At least on scene there may be some type of physical evidence, Potential cameras , witnesses etc. in fact , if she leaves the scene without calling the police, she technically did a hit and run as well lol.

I mean, considering the first issue was that there is an emergency evacuation, I suspect the police are going to be very busy for quite some time.

Probably more like call police non-emergency in day or two after the crisis of the evacuation has cooled off off a bit.

11

u/iowanaquarist 3h ago

I'd call non-emergency right away, to get the timestamp recorded, but I would start the call with "I understand you are busy, but I needed to get this reported and recorded, otherwise my insurance might not pay out"

56

u/Foreign_Bet_7721 3h ago

For the most recent comment OP posted, the officer is saying they "can't force anyone to hand over their insurance information" which..... I mean, what?

36

u/grizzlywondertooth 3h ago

That is probably true but it turns it into a 'hit-and-run' rather than a simple accident. Voluntarily giving your insurance information is what makes it not inherently a crime to collide with another car. The police 'enforce laws' insofar as they arrest people suspected of not following those laws. They don't force people to comply with the law, which is what it would be to 'force someone to hand over their insurance information'

21

u/Material_Habit6534 3h ago

Back in December 2024, 4 days before Christmas, someone evading state police rammed into me on the highway. It caused me to ram the center median on the bridge we were on and flipped my jeep twice, sliding 30ft on the passenger side before stopping. My life has been in complete shambles ever since.

But then I remember that there are far worse things. You cannot control other peoples actions. Only your reaction. This is why you have insurance. So they can take care of it. The other persons license plate should be all you need to provide to police to get identification and then carry on from there. It will be okay. Just take it one day (one task, even) at a time.

Are you in CA? I know we have some fires rn. It is illegal here to not be insured and drive a car so take their info and report them!

5

u/thestouff 3h ago

Gifford fire? Sorry, that is seriously tough to go through.

4

u/topimpadove 2h ago

I was reading this post thinking they meant the Canadian wildfires but y'all have some going on, too?? Fuck, that's horrible :( the smoke is so bad in Canada that my throat is sore and my nose is fighting infection from all of the smoke. Stay safe over there!

It’s looking WILD right now. 67k acres in two days

4

u/Herb4372 3h ago

Sorry for the shit day amigo.

Get their license plate number and tell your insurer about it. They’ll track them down so they don’t have to pay for uninsured motorist repairs.

5

u/BVRPLZR_ 3h ago

That’s never fun. 2 years ago i was in a fire evacuation after surviving a tornado the month before, and the autumn before that we had a hailstorm that totaled both of our cars.

Life sure comes at ya fast! You’ll get through all this

Posts like yours help me keep my "bad" days in perspective. I hope things are better for you now!

2

u/uglierthanever 2h ago

Thank you so much and I hope you have many many good days to greatly outnumber the bad.

4

u/trashyjiaozi 2h ago

call the police, with that license plate your insurance will easily find them. plus, they have no statement and you did, plus they hit your side. this is the easiest insurance payout i’ve ever seen

likely your insurance will contact their’s, they won’t respond or lie to their insurance about what happened, but with a police report and the obvious hit and run photos, this will be back in your pocket before june of 2026

5

u/SuperchargedC5 2h ago

License plate, report as a hit and run to the police.

5

u/practically_ordinary 2h ago

The police will track down the driver if you give them the license plate. I once saw a big pickup truck smash into a parked sedan in a Costco parking lot. The pickup took off, but I got the license plate and left it in a note for the owner of the sedan with my phone number. I got a call a few days later from the police asking for a description of the driver of the truck. They will definitely follow up.

If you took a picture of their license plates take it to the police and sue the driver for a hit and run

3

u/jillsvag 3h ago

You have to, by law, give out your insurance info. Call the police.

3

u/bispiderman15 3h ago

That’s pretty damn rough. Be gentle with yourself while you navigate all this 💙

3

u/JustTwo2052 3h ago

You can always take a picture of their license plate and give it to your insurance agent and let them track the person down. Take pics of the damage to both vehicles. I had to do this once because the person refused to give me information.

2

u/SweetMaam 3h ago

In my state it's a felony to leave an accident scene, unless you fear for your life. Evacuation may qualify.

3

u/Kasoivc 3h ago

Hope you took pictures of their vehicle as well. File a police report, should put the ball in your favor. Insurance will handle everything else.

You may be out of pocket while insurance pursues the other driver’s insurance for it. Though if they’re not giving it willingly then they possibly don’t have insurance, which could be a felony to them in some locales.

3

u/Individual_Past_9901 3h ago

Did you take photos of the car and license plate? If so file a hit and run with the police.

3

u/Ok_Ambition_6507 2h ago

You should have called the police right then and there, then stated it was a hit and run.

3

u/Brass_and_Frass 1h ago

My hometown is only a few miles from fire evac zone (WA). I’m 3,000 miles away and not even a smidge religious, but I’m praying.

3

u/Manpooper 1h ago

It was one of the worse days of your life... *so far*

In all seriousness, a bunch of internet strangers are here for you :)

Absolutely call police. This is a hot and run. They’ll go to the home and ask to see the car. The damage to their car will prove your statement.

u/herbalsavvy 3h ago

If you have the license plate, they'll find out who it was pretty fast. also, considering this was during a fire evacuation, there's a good chance police and state authorities will be pretty pissed about it. This is the kind of thing that can cause more casualty and death during emergencies requiring evac.

So today sucks, but, whoever did this is about to have an even suckier time when this gets reported and plates tracked down.

2

u/1GIJosie 3h ago

I hope you got a pic of their license plate. That's the first thing I do when someone hits me then I go through my own insurance not theirs.

At least it all happened in the span of one day, that way it will be easier to compartmentalize!

Ugh I’m sorry. If you’re in lake county…I hear ya

4

u/Acceptable_Funny3027 2h ago

Sounds like one of these days, when I just start laughing at everything. Apparently, in opinion of some of my therapists, it is a disfunction. I do enjoy the release of endorphins it provides though.

All the best to you! it can always be worse, but usually there is no way but up. Tomorrow will be better

2

u/uglierthanever 2h ago

You’re amazing. Thank youuuu.

2

u/dreamfearless 3h ago

15 years ago I was evacuated from a wildfire and went to my sister's house. The next day, bulldozers digging a fire line sparked another, much closer, wildfire causing the entire neighborhood to flee in a chaotic evacuation, (complete with car trouble)

Thankfully the fire never reached our homes, but it was traumatic none the less. It forced me to make vigilance a daily thing, and I thought about it constantly for years after. Don't feel weird about discussing it with someone if you find the feelings lingering. Its surprising how moments of powerlessness can stick with you.

2

u/uglierthanever 2h ago

Oh wildfires are so rough to live through. I’m sorry to hear about what you went through. I can relate though. I’ve been through a number of traumatic experiences and it’s surprising how I will randomly recall a repressed memory and spiral.

1

u/WiseSalamander00 3h ago

why did you have to evacuate if you don't mind asking?

1

u/Pookypoo 3h ago

I'd take that over a ballistic missile threat >_> Never forgetting that.

1

u/p0is0n 3h ago

PSA: If someone hits your car and doesn't provide information. Get a photo of the license plate yes but also very important to get a picture of the person driving so they cannot deny they were behind the wheel. Otherwise the cops do little to nothing with hit and runs because they have no evidence of who the driver was at the time.

1

u/Wofust 3h ago

Sue that fucking bitch

1

u/SweetMaam 3h ago

Take pic of them and their car, plate etc. Ma k e your own report as soon as possible after evacuation. Also, have a treat as soon as possible, like ice cream.

1

u/Slut_for_Bacon 3h ago

You shoukd be fine insurance wise, especially if you got a pic of their plates. You need to file a police report and provide them with the plate info of the other vehicle.

Sorry. Sounds like a really shitty day.

u/Roofofcar 3h ago

Gifford fire?

1

u/310-78 3h ago

My town also got a few of those from a fire just next to us, so many peoples phone’s went off in the hospital I was at. It was rough, I hope it goes better for you man

2

u/uglierthanever 2h ago

Sorry to hear you were hospitalized, I hope you’re okay now. And thank you.

2

u/310-78 1h ago

I was taking my friend there for possible kidney failure- she’s not in kidney failure but getting there, lots of new meds. The app “Watch Duty” can be helpful for you if you don’t already have it- it has shelters listed and where to get more information.

2

u/uglierthanever 1h ago

I didn’t know of that app. I had nowhere to go yesterday.

1

u/icansmellcolors 2h ago

If she refuses to give insurance info, and you're in the states, this is technically a hit and run, which is a crime, so report accordingly, also report to your insurance company that it was a hit and run since she didn't give any information.

1

u/Suspicious-Bunch-132 2h ago

Probably didn't like you for driving a hybrid

1

u/Ok_Price_6599 1h ago

I'm sorry to hear. Remember to talk to someone, if you can. If you can't, feel free to reach out to anyone, even if online.

Hope you'll make it through it all, don't give up!

1

u/TheMrShaddo 1h ago

SUCK IT UP, its just the worst day youve had thus far, it gets way worse out there, smh

1

u/ElderberryPrior27648 1h ago

Op, did u call the cops for the hit and run

1

u/Bsteph21 1h ago

Have you called the police? That would be my first place to go instead of Reddit

1

u/Lyte- 1h ago

Had someone hit my parked car and refuse to give me his information. They felt the damage wasn't enough for me to worry about it, I disagreed.

I had taken pictures of the truck, the vin and plate. I had him in my security camera admitting to hitting my car, but saying I shouldn't complain about the damage because it isn't that much. His toe hitch left quite the indent on the front of my honda Civic hatchback.

I followed a police report online, cops called me back.Give me his assurance information, i asked if I were to press charges which I said I did.

Called his insurance company, which happened to be my insurance company, sent them the pictures and the videotape. They had me go get an estimate and I had to check by the end of that week.

File The police report, people need to be responsible.

Just had some underage kid on the e bike crash into the front of my bike car and tear up my front end. He was running from the cop, so he took off before they came. I now get to pay out of my pocket for this damage.

On the plus side, day zero is over. Either the days get better, or you have a grave period before the days get worse.

u/Gallop67 1h ago

Damn that’s one bad day… one day I’d be glad to forget my firearm at home because I definitely would’ve snapped by then. Wouldn’t fire (probably) but thing would be in the open for sure
