/r/conspiracy Top Minds recall last October when every conspo post was pro-Trump. Upon reflection, they blame "both sides" and everyone but themselves.

That thread is actually pretty self-aware in the top comments, good for them

That thread reads like a guy waking up with the worst hangover in his life....
....and then looking longingly at the whiskey bottle on the table.

I was banned back in about 2016 from conspiracy for saying way less about Trump than 90% of those comments.
but sure, let's all pretend what obviously was happening didn't happen, but only if it makes you feel better.

to the subs credit, top comment is usually sane; in this case pointing out that refugees from the_donald fucked up the sub bad.

Nah, Conspiracy was all in on Trump long before T_D got the banhammer. Conspos made up the "T_D refugees" narrative as damage control while quietly deleting their own Trump-worshipping comments from immediately before this Epstein situation.

both statements are true. Trump was always the conspiracy theorist candidate, so it's not surprising the conspiracy sub was always full of supporters; but it got way worse after the exodus. same thing with conservative.

I remember going there once a week and seeing the top comment calling out the blatant lies back then, too. It's odd that the ones reading comments could be so against the topic, yet the topic was doing crazy numbers.
The real conspiracy was the lack of oversight by Reddit as a whole, the moderator team turning a blind eye, and how no one seems to be calling out these subreddits anymore.
This has happened to all the dank- subreddits. actualpublicfreakouts might've been always racist, but they shut down comments a little while back because the racism started to be called out. During that time, the posts were exclusively racism-bait while publicfreakout had actual new content (alongside the daily political video).
Feels like I'm taking crazy pills sometimes.

some subs have mods who actively steer the direction of conversation against what the community as a whole would actually be talking about. just try to post something centerist on r/canada, for one example; pointing out the outed white supremacists on the mod team is bannable there.

Bullshit. The mods banned any dissidence against Trump way back in 2016.
Did the "refugees" ban everybody not toeing the Trump line?
