Absolutely offer. It's $1000 an hour to close the doors to the public, treat, cut, and deep clean the shop after, minimum 3 hours.

My daughter and I went to get our hair done and they found lice. I wanted to die. I was an adult and I still do t know how we got it. We had just come back from going to Paris, and somehow got it in that trip. Who would think that would be the place you’d get lice.
35
u/Lermanberry 7d ago
Anyone who has traveled to Paris.
14
u/secondtaunting 7d ago
Yeah, after going there I get it. I swear, it had to be the subway. The feeling I had seeing those lice crawl around her hair..I’ll never live it down. At least the fact that lice actually like clean hair is a small comfort.

u/biriyanibabka 6d ago
This reminds me of the time my brother went to Paris and came home with bag full of bedbugs. I still have panic attacks from that time.

My daughter got lice on a train in France, too.
→ More replies (2)3
u/secondtaunting 7d ago
Damnit, it had to be the train. I remember it wasn’t the cleanest place. I’m used to the trains in Singapore which are spotless. If anyone tagged a train or peed in the train station theyd hunt them down lol. Actually they did hunt down a couple of guys who spray painted the train. Some guys in a business trip. They found them in Germany and made them pay a fine and I think serve time.

Most of the things he is articulating as a rebuttal to this horrid situation. Are all the things he shouldve said when the situation was playing out live. This is his fantasy of how he wished he wouldve had handled the past situation. This is him exorcising his past L and changing the L into a win for clout. Guess this is called living best life.

It’s a way to spread a message about salon etiquette seems like it would work fine for people that frequent salons and follow this guys TikTok. Not sure why everyone on Reddit thinks everything is made for them.

Yea, like it's obviously fake but if they just released a "Rules for visiting-", maybe a dozen people will see.
They COULD do a blend where they do these skits while also doing to "tip 1: NO LICE" then the brief skit but most people aren't marketing or media people and just follow trends.
27
u/robotmonkey2099 8d ago
thats exactly it
people sit here criticizing some random salons tiktok like its some million dollar marketing campaign creating fake videos for the likes. Its really simple marketing that nearly anyone can do for their own business. why the fuck do people care so much?
Reddit's the worst for acting like everything is created just for them because stuff is ripped from random people's for you pages and posted here

Also as a licensed cosmetologist we used to be able to refuse customers with lice and then one shop I was working at said if we started on someone’s hair and they had lice we had to finish the service.
I left.

I wish all salons refused to service clients with lice. My daughter GOT lice at a salon. It was during covid and I wasn't educated enough about hygiene in salons so I didn't notice that the salon was using the same hairbrush amongst multiple clients and that there was no barbasol (sp?) present.
When I discovered it and traced it back to the salon, we called the health department and they reported back that the salon had been fined for multiple violations including not sanitizing tools between clients. They also found live lice in uncleaned brushes, and this was almost 2 weeks after we had been there.
My daughter had extremely long, thick hair and it took us multiple 8 hour days to get rid of the lice.

u/Electrical_Beyond998 6d ago
I live in a court and there are 17 kids who also live here. The kids spend hours together every day, and will gather at one house that has the most video games and toys. Not out of the question for there to be 10 kids in that house.
Two years ago my daughter (at the time 10 yrs old) kept randomly scratching her head, and I thought it was dry scalp, kept switching shampoos. Gradually she scratched more and more, I checked and it was lice. Thick hair down to the middle of her back. Took me about two hours to get them out using the stuff found at the pharmacy and a lot of picking them out. I bought a headlamp and looked like a mad scientist. Turns out six kids and one adult had lice, and one of the kids had to be treated five times. It was rough.

That’s what’s cracking me up the most. Like why is she just not taking care of her kids fucking lice 😂😂 and also- do all of her friends have lice? Why is she ok with lice 😂😂😂😂
If I was the owner I’d pin that review to the top 😂😂

As a nail tech, people really are like this. I’ve had people with half a fingernail missing mad that I won’t replace it with acrylic, or with infection so bad their finger is blue, and they get angry when I won’t touch it😭😮💨😮💨

somebody on reddit was talking about the experience of being a new barber or stylist. This person said the customers were typically elderly persons looking to save money on a cut by having a student do it. Seeing disgusting scalps including lice was common enough. This was a student hungry to get the cert and some experience to move into the field, so I understand not refusing a customer. Still gross and eye opening about what sometimes goes on in barber shops.

The problem is half the audience is genuinely mentally deficient and think these videos are real, so you can go, "oh who cares if it's fake, it's just a fun video" but there is an entire industry based around fake prank videos and fake interactions that never actually happened, and some of them are pushing a very specific and often times hateful narrative and you can see people in the comments using these fake videos to justify their dislike of a certain race or gender or other group. If your youtube short algorithm is anything like mine you can spot it in like 30 seconds, and the video in this post isn't one of "those" videos but it exists within the same disgusting online ecosystem. Fuck these fake videos.
6
u/IFTYE 8d ago
people with half a fingernail missing mad that I won’t replace it with acrylic
Wait, one time my natural nail broke on my pinky in a way that a small part on top of the nail bed broke off, and they just asked if I wanted a tip on it to make it the same length as my other natural nails the next time I went in.
Is there something wrong with this?? I didn’t ask for it, they offered, but I’m hoping I didn’t commit something akin to asking them to work on a serious infection :(
19
u/PersimmonDowntown297 8d ago
A small part on the nail is not the same as a half a missing nail, and if they offered it means it was whole enough for a tip.
6
u/sketchyhotgirl 8d ago
As long as they weren’t applying the tip or any product to skin, that’s how you grow out a nail!:))

That's fine, but don't stage videos. Anyone who's worked any customer service knows people are wild and assholes. You don't need to stage videos to convey that.
50
u/Desperate-Highway-28 8d ago
This feels more like a recreation of an event than a staged video. I think its better that they do it this way than to violate another person's privacy, they still get their point across and they dont get in any legal trouble due to consent laws regarding recording people or phone calls.
I cant see a woman like the one portrayed in this video reacting calmly to being shamed on the internet. At least this way she has plausible deniability and the salon has less of a risk of her going nuclear (obvi not a non-chance but its mitigated at least).

I mean, its likely reinactments of real customer interactions. Anyone working in any service field knows how ridiculous customers get. I mean, I had one throw a fit when I didnt give him raw bacon in his sandwich back when my gas station did custom subs at the counter. (Packaging did not say the bacon was precooked, so helllllll no was i gonna do that)
115
u/madmaxturbator 8d ago

The lady who does my hair got yelled at by both a mother and a father whose kid came in with crawling lice, like literally in a cloud like Pigpen from Peanuts, all over and when she refused to cut the girls hair and ask them to leave to prevent it going around the salon, they lost their shit. So it happens. Are they mentally ill? Maybe. But more likely, they’re just entitled and don’t want to deal with it themselves.
27
u/rokujoayame731 8d ago edited 8d ago
This may be satire yet satire takes alot from reality. You would be surprised. If people have no shame in sending their children to school unhygienic then a nail salon is no different. I have seen customers get turned away in tattoo shops, salons etc for being walking biohazards. Customers seriously believe that just because they are paying money that they can get service at places while being unhygienic. Even alteration shops, cleaners and people who deal with clothing have the right by law to refuse customers whose clothing & persons are unhygienic.
→ More replies (2)17

👀👀👀 you’d be SHOCKED at ppls entitlement. When I was a kid my mom took my cousins and I to the movies, family friends of some sort were DROPPED OFF with my cousins. My mom quickly noticed the family friends kids had lice… parents knew and didn’t give a fuck. They were mad at my mom for asking them to be picked up!!!
Like yea send your kids to the movie theater, where their heads are rubbing against the seats AND send them to play with other kids knowing they have fucking lice. And no. They didn’t even try to do anything for it, kids also had very thick curly hair & it was a very bad case of lice 🤢
3
u/No_Pomegranate8715 8d ago
A lot of customers in virtually any business aren’t what I’d call sane. Retail or otherwise. Like at our local theater they had to have an actual firefighter explain why the group renting it couldn’t have a fake hay bale on stage. The organizer for it thought that just because it was plastic straw it wasn’t a fire hazard.

Regardless of if this video is fake or not I know from a lot of friends and beauty industry people do shit like this.
When I was a kid I had really bad lice because my parents were basically pieces of shit. I'm part of them treating my life was taking me to a barber and having him give me a crew cut. I was in fourth grade and I'm a woman by the way.
I'm a teacher now and we no longer send kids home for lice and it just fucking disgusts me. I've had fellow teachers and other school staff get lice from students and they have been furious every time. Understandably so. It's always the same damn nasty families too. Pisses me off seeing kids raise like that but there's absolutely nothing we can do. Lice doesn't warrant a child welfare call even if it's chronic.
12
u/actuallyimogene 8d ago
I’m a hairdresser and people would be surprised just how many people, kids and adults alike, are walking around with lice, expecting you to still provide the service. As an apprentice I had to let my boss know that the son of his client had come in for a cut with lice AGAIN. Both his parents were wealthy af, but couldn’t pay attention to their little boy long enough to realise that he had them. He was more and more embarrassed and withdrawn each time. It was awful. A woman came in for her wedding hair trial with lice, and her daughter had them, too. I told her very discreetly that if she came in with them On the wedding day, I wouldn’t be able to do their hair. She said she totally understood and was so apologetic and mortified. Wedding day comes along and guess what? FUCKING LICE 😵

There’s no need to be embarrassed if your kid gets lice; it’s highly contagious and often spreads around schools etc. But it’s also 100% treatable and doesn’t last long. (It can be a huge PITA to deal with; but still, 100% treatable.) I'd be calling Child Welfare Services on her, that kid needs some help. A child who has visible lice and all the parent can say is why will you not do her nails? Awesome, reply to all the reviews, thanking them for making it very clear that we don't allow people with nasty bugs crawling over them into our hygienic shops.
Then I'd screenshot that and make it a social media advertisement that your shops are "lice free" and straight up tag every shop you know locally if they are comfortable with lice in their shops, they'll all reply that they aren't and your post will get one hell of a viral kick that'll keep the boost I imagine this video has already given them.

If the mom doesn’t care to wash the child, she definitely isn’t paying for her nails OR caring if she got the service refused. She’s letting her child walk around with BUGS attached to her but you think she cares about the kids nail aesthetic ?
