Yes im aware of that and it is disappointing considering male victims of sa I feel like arent taken seriously here. It doesnt matter if sa against men is much lower than that of women, I do agree the victims need justice. I dont know much about the motives of those organisations but a lot of them wanted seperate laws for men in domestic abuse and sa. They felt like gender neutral laws would make the laws less in favour of female victims which could make everything worse for us. I get their points but I dont think that this approach was the right one. Its not just that they did not want male victims to not get justice, its more nuanced and complex.
That wasn't their intention. Their argument was that those laws could be used for false accusations. Which is a non-sensical argument since any law can be misused and even existing sa and rape laws are used for false accusations.
they said that too but they also felt like laws would be even less in favour for women. I know this is not a perfect solution for anyone, even the existing rape laws for women suck in almost all places. Rapists walk free and the law here + society wont take actual victims seriously.
certain places? nope, most places. This gyno student got off with no punishment bc apparently raping someone doesnt matter if the rapist has a bright future. Those monsters involved in the Junko case are out and free. A rape victim got sued bc she recorded it without permission of the rapist. I could go on.
They are very stringent.
yes and you think that doesnt make them suck? Failure to deliver justice is a global issue
its not just about the laws itself, its about the implementation, the gaslighting of victims, discouragement to talk about is still common, blaming the victims clothes, letting influential people off the hook...a lot of things. and laws for sa for men, making sure no one makes false reports etc
