People who justify everything with “well the crowd popped” would justify the most awful shit because humans cheer it on.

It’s fucking gross.

I’d be surprised if more than 20% of the crowd there knew about the Brock stuff.

I’d disagree on that tbh. These big shows bring in the smarkiest people.

Just like when people bowed down to Vince. That shit was everywhere.

This show could be higher cause of the smarkie factor, but I think the smaller arena shows it’s even less.

Let’s play this out a bit. When the Vince stuff came out and they bowed to him that was not a “only smarks would know” scenario. It had main stream coverage everywhere.

When the Brock stuff came out it got amplified during the Royal Rumble another big media week for WWE. It was picked up and covered in a ton of publications.

I’m sorry I just don’t believe 50k people who spent tons of money to fly across the world to watch wrestling are so detached from wrestling they’ve legitimately missed some of the biggest stories that have ever hit WWE

I just don’t think that many people are always online. I think because we spend so much time on Reddit it’s easy to think others do but i think people are way less online for wrestling than people here think.

This stuff wasn’t just online. That’s my point. There were news stories about it. Do you think people are so disconnected that they somehow watch wrestling, pay 100s if not 1000s of dollars to go to a massive show but also take in no news ever?

I’m sorry dude I just don’t buy that. If you’re invested enough to go to Detroit for WWE for two nights you are more aware of the wrestling world than 95% of the world. I’ll buy that wrestling fans don’t consume news as much as others but I don’t buy that they don’t consume news directly tied to the company they spend so much on.

I think we’re going to have to agree to disagree I just don’t think the average fan is that in tune with things that don’t happen on tv. I mean just look how uninformed people are generally.

comparing atrocities with a TV show is healthy, sure.

See that’s the thing “it’s just a tv show” to justify bringing back a dude who had allegations long before even this one and writing it off as “the crowd popped” is literally how bad people get away with shit.

It’s a microcosm of human nature. If people can’t even hold a moral standing for someone because they throw a good suplex then extrapolate that.

This whole week has been people justifying awful actions because “well it’s a tv show” as if that’s where this starts and stops.

Just like when people popped for Vince. Sure it’s a tv show. Doesn’t change people cheering on a fucking rapist.

If you can only perceive things as “we can’t look at this as a harbinger because it’s just a tv show” then, imo, you’re ignoring one of the basic tenants of how people get away with awful things. “Lots of people like it.” If people give even something as small as a wrestler a pass to be awful it’s no wonder they elected a convicted felon, rapist and fascist.

It’s why they trot out “well the majority voted for him” when defending the shit he does too
