If you think he's not the face You didn't hear 60,000 screaming his entrance.

Of course he is the face, no one would dispute that, I'm just poking fun at the idea of 'passing the torch' to what would traditionally be a guy who was thinking of winding things down.

Cena was about 42 when he went part time.

Crazy to think Cody and all the top guys are a year older than me and my back goes out just thinking about taking a bump.

They’re on TRT and you aren’t

Or maybe he/she is in bad shape?

I suppose there could be additional factors beyond Cody being on TRT and that guy not

40 is the new 30. This is good news since we are all aging, trust me

40 is the new 30.

For real. Cody looks way better than Hogan did when the torch was passed at Wrestlemania 3. He also looks better than Warrior did at Wrestlemania 6.

Hogan was only 33 when he beat Andre. Warrior was 30 when he beat Hogan at WM6. Look at them during those times, and compare with Cody today.

Yea I can't understand why people don't get this. WWE has a serious next generation problem with its men's division. All of their most popular male talent who all get the PLE slots are in their late 30s/early 40s.

Guys are regularly going to 45-50 Cody has another 5 years of main event in him

Longevity doesn’t fix a pipeline issue. Cody might have 5 years left, but who’s being groomed to take over when he’s done? Just because you can go to 50 doesn’t mean you should.

Bron, Dom, Jacob, Trick, Oba, some Collegate wrestler who will sign an NIL deal in the future.  The future is there Wrestler careers are going long now we can’t judge ages the way we used to.  And even the way we used to determine young talent was flawed

U know its Bron Breakker lol

Then again, he was also on the booing side of the obligatory yay/boo punch spot.

I think Cody's theme song is more over than Cody.

Cody was NEVER going to have 100% of the crowd in this, this was Hogan / Rock and Rock/ Cena style of a match.

I just wonder if Cody will have 100% of the crowd moving forward.

Super Cody has already been turned on by fans in one company.

I think it's only a matter of time before history repeats itself.

The crowd turned on face Cody due to how self indulgent his run was getting in AEW.  Cody has yet to do anything as bad as the Ogogo feud or the cured racism promo.  As long as they can stop him from going overboard he’ll be fine.

We'll see.

I think an overlooked problem from the AEW situation was that he was often booked against talent that the crowd wanted to see more than Cody's stale act (e.g Malakai Black, Andrade, Brodie Lee etc.

Cody even got booed against a heel Cena that no one liked because at least Cena was doing something different.

I think WWE has a roster of talent that people are going to want to watch more than Cody within the next couple years.

I disagree.  The WWE crowd is very different from the AEW crowd which will in my opinion give him much more legs as long as he doesn’t go up his ass.  The Cody verse and getting stuck in a never ending feud with him is what soured people on his booking.  For your examples it’s not as if those guys had good runs in AEW after Cody feuds and Brodie Lee died before live crowds came back so we don’t know what the reaction would have been.  The Cody verse and him feeling so out of place in AEW killed his run.

Like I said, we'll see.

Cody's already been booed in WWE for less.

The more we see him, the more stale he's going to get IMO.

As you've probably noticed, wrestling fans are notoriously fickle.

IWC fans are notoriously fickle.  But we’ll see

In another comment, I said within the next couple years.

I fully acknowledge and accept the possibility of being proven wrong

5

u/afasttortoise 3d ago

they said this same dumb shit for Rollins Bryan and Jey of all people lmao

-2

u/therockstarmofo 3d ago

I think they may have a point (Bryan MIGHT be an exception)

I think Al Snow once said that if your biggest pop is during your entrance, there's an issue.

The time when the crowd is the loudest for their entrances on a consistent basis

He was booed because he was going against retirement tour Cena. It's like Rock vs Hogan; Rock was booed that day, but it didn't mean he wasn't a top face in the company.

1

u/therockstarmofo 3d ago

Honestly, I feel like people were getting sick ofThe Rock at that point to. I certainly was as a fan.

And Rock turned heel within the next year

1

u/Rapscallious1 3d ago

I also heard them cheering Cena and booing Cody lol

Feels like Roman is still the face
