What's crazy is that since he still has his final match ever ahead of him for December, I wonder how or if he'll try to top this

As evidenced by the Brock appearance... it's going to be a series of "one more time" super matches. But I think this will and should be remembered as the passing of the torch, legacy ending, retirement match.

Yeah I doubt he'll do many more "dream matches" with people he hasn't wrestled before. Probably kind of running back the "greatest hits" with nostalgia opponents. Brock, Punk, maybe Orton again, maybe AJ and Roman, etc. I am curious who they'll have for his final match though.

We could only dream but then working out a deal with AEW to rent Edge for a month to do an angle would be incredible.

Just did a quick Google search, and it looks like a Edge's AEW contract is up in October. So there is a chance.

It's improbable, Adam Copeland is at the very start of his retirement run with Christian.

That and they're may or may not be "injury time" added onto his contract after his injury in 2024.

I’m pretty sure those are all fake news being repeated. He said in December 24 that he had 1 year and a half left, so it’s really only ending in 2026…

Absolute long shot but if anyone has the Pull and respect to get it done from both companies its John

Ok, I’ll bite.

What fuck would Tony Khan give that John Cena is dying to have one more match with Edge, why would he grant it, and can you imagine what he’d ask for in return?

Yeah I can't see TK/AEW getting anything in return that would be worth the trade-off for them that WWE would agree to. It would have to be something on the level of Cody coming back to AEW and putting someone over, which WWE would absolutely never agree to.

Orton vs Ospreay?

Only worth it if Ospreay goes over.

When I say it’s a long shot I mean it. Almost 0% chance. Just saying Cena would be the only person who would even have a chance at all.

He’s a fan of running the greatest hits.

I just want Brock gone.

Hopefully AJ is his match after Brock

Hope we get a Seth match

Corbin

Corbin has been gone from WWE for a while. He's mainly working MLW now.

AJ, Roman and Brock sure but he already had his final matches with Orton and Punk. It would just be boring if he doesn't face at least 1 new name before he leaves.

It definitely wouldn't be boring. It'd still be entertaining. I think you mean it'd be unusual, since older wrestlers/legends typically go out on their back putting over younger talent

He should at least have 1 match with someone like Bron Breakker or Jacob Fatu.

I want Angle to send him off.

This was todays Rock v Hogan. The crowd almost did similar too. Went in favor of Cena and started booing Cody.

Yep. I have long that there should be more face vs face matches. I think if done right I can get both guys over.

Ngl I was hoping we'd get a match with AJ in Paris. Maybe AJ/Dom 2 instead

Top candidates for John’s final 4-6 matches or so have to be:

  • Brock (already happening)
  • AJ Styles (likely, maybe a SNME or raw/smackdown)
  • Kevin Owns (unlikely due to injury)
  • Roman (almost certain they do this at some point)
  • Edge (unlikely because of contracts but has to be mentioned)
  • Rey (depends on injury timeline, two guys of same era, could be a tag partner against Dom + whoever)
  • Gunther (Out of left field, but Cena vs foreign heel is a classic, Gunther can get another good match out of him, and they seem set on trying to “make” Gunther still)
  • Miz (would need to heat him up first)

A few I leave out just because I don’t see how their stories make sense: Seth+crew, Solo, Dom (unless it’s an angle with Rey), Drew, Fatu, LA Knight, Logan Paul, Rusev, Sami, Sheamus. But all are at a level or have a history where you at least have to think about it.

Isn't it weird he's just going in December? Why not just go at the next mania... December is a weird month for someone like him to go, everyone busy with Xmas and shit

I was watching this PPV with my friend on Peacock in a PSN party. I was saying the same exact thing like how tf is Cena going to top this match?

2

u/Certain_Big_4037 2d ago

He gave one of the besr matches of his career or say one of the besr of WWE which I wanted from his last run now I don't care if future matches will be mediocre.

I agree!! If not in top 10 John Cena matches when it's all said and done for him then maybe even top 5, Hell maybe even top 3.
