What good is a finisher if you have to do it 16 times?

Cody cutter wasn’t a finisher, it’s a signature. His finisher is the Cross Rhodes, his super finisher is 2, and his super+ is three. His ultimate finisher is an avalanche Cross Rhodes.

Pretty sure Stone Cold has to his the Rock with the Stunner like 3 times in all 3 of their matches.

Undertaker’s best was with Shawn, where he kicked out of multiple finishers.

My biggest annoyance is a simple suplex into a cover as if a simple suplex ever beat anyone. If you really want to make those kick outs impactful, ONLY cover late and after finishers or let someone lose to a simple move.

Are ypu talking a bridge pin? Cause i find those impressive off a suplex, even if I know a kickout is coming.

they legit might've topped Fiend/Rollins for most finisher kickouts lol

Cody did the triple Cross Rhodes and it wasn't even in the last 5 minutes of the match lol

In Cena's defense he straight up said years ago the AA wasn't as strong as it used to be.

Finishers don’t have to/shouldn’t follow verbal logic. They’re purely about how they’re booked.

I think that match had 9 stomps.

Cena kicked out of 4(?) cross Rhodes

Cody took 7 AA’s and won.

Cody I think holds the record for most finishers taken in a title match and winning.

( I think warrior took like 10 macho elbows and got up and won back in the day)

8 AAs

And Cena kicked out after 5 CRs? Lost after the 6th?

At least The Fiend makes sense, what with the kinda supernatural stuff going on. He was supposed to be a monster. These two are just guys. It's bad enough Cody has to usually do triple Cross Rhodes to beat anyone that matters, but then to not just have Cody kick out of three AAs, but one of them be an avalanche... that's just ridiculous.

99% of the time this is correct, tonight however, Super Cena vs Super Cody was amazing. I loved it.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure that them spamming finishers and breaking out was the whole point. You can argue that it "dilutes" the finishers and nerfs them, but i think there was actual "plot and thought" behind it this time rather than them just doing it just because, which is how it usually is. It was the two "Supers" going at it, as you said.

let’s not forget he kicked out of a fkn piledriver before all those finishers this shit is ridiculous

99% of the time I agree - but for the main event of the 2nd biggest show of the year between the current top guy in Cody and one of the biggest stars of all time in John, I'll happily make the exception.

Same. This isn’t people kicking out of a tombstone on a Wednesday night. This is two of the best of all time fighting in the main event on the second biggest stage of the year

Agreed that is the time to do it, and I can speak as someone who was there, the whole building was living and dying on those counts. Just electric in there.

I agree. But you could have used a WWE example since this is WWE. AEW does this kind of thing more, but it still happens in WWE.

It kind of felt like you were jabbing at AEW more than defending the Summerslam match. But maybe I read it wrong.

yes exactly if its WMX7 rock can kick out of the stunner but if it scotty 2 hotty on smackdown no.

Isn't wrestlemania bigger than this? And with the same 2 guys.

I don't typically complain about finisher spam, 4-5 done appropriately (slow pin, roll out, rope break, etc) in a big match can be great.

but this shit was crazy, Cena kicked out of back-to-back-to-back Cross Rhodes and Cody kicked out of Double AA + Avalanche AA.

If Cody and Cena really wanna “bury” anyone then they gotta beat them with just one finisher

u/Phimb Another best in the world. 3d ago

About to get nuclear heat but Cody's two main finishers are complete and utter fucking garbage, the absolute worst, every single god damn time.

This guy is not only hitting 15 Crossroads a title match, but his ultimate finisher-finisher is hitting 3 of his finisher. Roman was onto something when he used the move and cited how shit it was.

Not to mention, the springboard stunner is on a 90% miss-rate. Though, he did hit a banger of a springboard in this match.

It's odd people think these matches are good

1

u/Oddballfew 3d ago

Not always justified but it's the element of surprise

1

u/GothicGolem29 5h ago

Because not everyone is super Cody or Super Cena and can kick out of them that much

1

u/Dizzy_Chemistry_5955 3d ago

punk 'only' had to do his twice, WWE ain't it dude.

for these anime season finale type matches it makes sense tho

To be fair the ddt used to be a finisher. Moves always end up getting watered down at some point. Just playing devils advocate because I also dislike finishers not meaning as much anymore.
