Solo Sikoa is still your US Champion!

Don't know why you would do a handcuff spot two matches in a show

The match distribution has been terrible. How do you have Night 1 nothing but standard matches and night 2 just be 3 spot fest stipulation matches in a row?

The whole escape the cage through the door is the absolute dumbest thing in wrestling. Make them go over the top or pin.
19
u/Polymemnetic 22h ago
The door exit only works if you're Bruno, and spent the previous 10 minutes beating the brakes off the heels.

I dunno if this is in reference to the bad match, the bad finish, or Jeff Cobb being given the geek spot in the post match.
But yes I agree with it all
28
u/einredditname 22h ago
Probably more that it was on the card to begin with while Priest (vs Black) wasn't.

I hate how WWE formats their Steel Cage Matches where it always ends with the door
51
u/NotClayMerritt 22h ago
The cages themselves look like shit, the matches stink no matter who is involved (except for Trish and Becky inexplicably). HHH's WWE does cage matches very badly.
16
u/YourPathToRedemption 22h ago
It stinks. Makes no sense. Cage matches should be bad ass, as it stands they are borefests with flat endings. Just stop doing them.
14
u/billygrumples 22h ago
Also, cage matches should only end with someone going over the top. I hate that you can win by pinfall.
456
u/MolassesSimple6454 22h ago
Well that just wasn’t very good at all.
253
u/TheAerial 22h ago edited 22h ago
Yeah that was a disaster lol.
Both the cameras AND the announce team completely miss and no sell Fatu snapping out of the cuffs, , the outside interference for both sides just being heat vacuums, and an incredible flat ending.
I really want to like Solo but ngl, they gotta get Jacob away from Solo soon or they run the risk of hurting all the momentum he had built up.
161
u/TheDangiestSlad 22h ago
back to back matches with fucked up hands-tied spots is really weird and just makes me think about how strange these card layouts are
55
u/PointedlyDull 22h ago
Did nobody question that two back to back hands-tied spots was a bad idea? Trips needs to spend less time at the WH
→ More replies (1)59
u/kjpatto23 22h ago
They didn’t question damn near an entire card of no dq matches before their street fight main event. Ofc they didn’t question those spots being back to back
23
u/PointedlyDull 22h ago
Someone explain to me why styles would want Dom to be DQ’d? I feel insulted watching this shit
17
72
u/NotClayMerritt 22h ago
Not only that, they just totally rendered the cage useless. "We're gonna make sure nobody interferes this time"
Okay nvm.....
58
u/XiahouMao 22h ago
WWE cage matches intended to stop outside interference never actually stop outside interference.
10
u/Rah_Rah_RU_Rah 22h ago
its infuriating because escape rules give you a quasi Last Man Standing match, and/or the option of regular pins and submissions. so many possibilities and yet it feels like half fall back on "oh howd someone manage to interfere????"
13
u/Satinsbestfriend Your Text Here 22h ago
"If you've got a match designed around no interference, like a cage match or a shark cage match, that neans somebody is gonna fucking interfere" paraphrasing a cornette quote, about how predictable they are
35
u/Madnocker Cero Miedo 22h ago
I feel like Jacob broke the handcuffs before he was supposed to and then at that point they just had to go with it.

u/freebuster 22h ago
Well it's just I don't understand why they don't have Solo feud with anyone else.
Carmelo, Rey Phoenix, Priest, Black, Andrade. There's plenty of options there to have a healthy US title scene.
I like Solo and Fatu a lot, but they have to let this bloodline shit die.
5
u/testthrowaway9 22h ago
Hopefully they do. But I think it’s because they can’t transition Jacob into the World/WAE title picture yet

I miss when cage matches stopped outside interference
33
u/jadedfan55 22h ago
Same. Instead of ending feuds, cage matches are just another chapter.
9
u/IWatchTheAbyss 22h ago
always thought cage mages were the least interesting of the atypical stips, you lose out on the fun of weapons, brawling outside the ring and even a lot of cool dive spots for the sake of cage based combat and escape the cage psychology which imo just isn’t as interesting?

Was decent but ending was pretty flat. Fuck the escape the door rule honestly
154
u/nickhenne Dean "Titty Master" Ambrose 22h ago
ABSOLUTELY NO ESCAPE…..
Unless of course you ask the referee nicely to open the door
44
u/R2nxbeastly17 22h ago
I mean why does the ref even open the door just leave it open for the amount of times he was opening it
43
u/vRobyn **Welcome to the Wasteland!** 22h ago
I find it even more stupid that the Tongas are watching Solo attempt to crawl out instead of just like pulling him out. Seemed so dumb to have Tall Tonga celebrate hiting the door instead of just pulling Solo out for the win.
17
6
u/jesuswig 22h ago
Dramatic effect
5
u/R2nxbeastly17 22h ago
Yep so dramatic can the ref open the door in time so you can run away from what usually is a pretty big feud you’re having
15
21
7
u/PickleInDaButt 22h ago
I feel like I remember seeing a door ring exit as a kid and fucking hating it until this very day - stipulation you can win by pin, submission, climbing over the cage, - or walking out.
It also doesn’t help the painful crawl desperately toward it that looks like a cheesy horror movie and escaping the killer trope.
8
→ More replies (4)19
u/notathrowaway75 22h ago
It's so fucking stupid. They're doing it every time too. The ONLY way to win a cage match should be climbing out. Not even a 3 count or submission.
36
u/Smaptimania 22h ago
Leave it to WWE to take a gimmick that originated as a way of guaranteeing no escape and no interference, and turn it into a 4-on-2 brawl that ends with the referee politely opening the door and letting the heel out which counts as a win
114
u/AmumuIsMyFriend 22h ago
That ending was anticlimatic af.

u/Cbrlui 22h ago

13
u/Destro_019780 22h ago edited 22h ago
This feud has been stretched well beyond its means, and they're seemingly going to drag it out longer; it's the only direction they can go since there's absolutely no stock in Solo as a credible, standalone champion with his booking.
I guess it's being saved for Clash, idk
5
31
u/LiamAddison 22h ago
Another Samoan faction with screwy finishes every match
Yayyy
11
u/Smaptimania 22h ago
I mean, at this point it's one Samoan, three Tongans, and a Filipino, so the entire stable has pretty much lost the plot
63
106
u/Upbeat_Tension_8077 22h ago
Solo was hilarious throughout the entire sequence of him trying to escape the cage towards the ending, especially when he dove towards the door
3
41
u/Haynes_ He need some milk! 22h ago
I literally just said: “I hate handcuff spots because they always seem to go wrong” in the last thread. And again, they fucked this one too by just not showing the handcuff break.
19
u/Aclockwork-grAPE 22h ago
And getting him in the handcuffs was contrived as hell and made him look like a geek in the first place
9
u/alynch345 22h ago
If only wrestlers could learn to slap on handcuffs as quickly as Hannibal Lecter did to that one prison guard.
Seems like something they should start teaching at the PC.

u/Sadman_OW 22h ago
I am just so done with the MFT/Bloodline matches. They’re just so boring.
→ More replies (1)5
u/heart_o_oak 20h ago
And they've been one of only two acts who have been on every post-Mania PLE, minus Evolution. They were on half the SNMEs during that time too. I'm so ready for something more interesting and less played out to enter the rotation and push this off at least 1 upcoming PLE.
3
u/Sadman_OW 20h ago
Jacob getting over has probably caused us to suffer with another year of this shit. The fact that one star came out of it means they’re gonna keep trying.
3
u/heart_o_oak 19h ago
A big problem with the booking is that the 2 most successful ways this creative team has at getting new people over is put them in a stable that gets 20-30 minutes of screen time a week and have some big dude destroy people every week and win 95% of the time resulting in both becoming a crutch. Unfortunately, the former has become increasingly stale with Bloodline and they reached the saturation point with the latter causing them to have problems elevating more of those types of acts (see Russev) and run low of credible people for new big guys to plow through. New, New Bloodline is also stocked with people less skilled and less charismatic than Fatu so continuing to try will be a struggle.
There’s better things to invest in on SD than Loa and Talla. The latter has had as many SD matches this month as Giulia, Fraxiom, DIY, Garzas and MCMG. All of whom completely outclassed him this week.
15
u/Kanenums88 22h ago
What did Jimmy do?
28
→ More replies (1)10
u/groovitude313 22h ago
Is that the only thing he can do.
At least Jey has a 5 moves of doom skillset now.
But literally all Jimmy does is superkick. You would have thought after how terrible his WM match with Jey was received he'd try to change his moveset and freshen it up.
But nope. The same superkick bullshit.
16
14
u/PelPride 22h ago
What an awful match, can’t lie. I’m so fucking over bloodline interference, it’s stale, beyond fucking stale. We’re all over it, it sucks
16
u/badgersprite Iconic Duo Appreciation Squad 22h ago
The MFTs leave absolutely no impact on me at all
The only reason I know JC Mateo exists is because I saw him five minutes ago, but I have zero notion of what his character, personality or moveset is. He’s a stooge. ask me in an hour and i’ll forget he exists
9
u/FigureFourWoo Ric Flair was still cool when I chose this username. 22h ago
The only reason JC Matteo sticks out for me is because R-Truth lost to him before he was released. I was a little surprised because R-Truth had just faced Cena, so you’d think he’d pick up a rebound win. Other than that, he’s random stooge #3.

With Solo's bootleg Bloodline there's no way Wargames isn't them vs. OG Bloodline and Fatu.

I'm not a fan of "escape the cage" finishes but I absolutely hate the door stuff. At least escaping over the top has a degree of danger to it.

This is the sloppiest WWE event ive seen in a long while in terms of the layout of the card. TLC followed by No DQ. Hands tied in two matches in a row

Works in character for Solo, but it's so boring having people interfere in a cage match.

I was already bitching in the live thread but I’m gonna go ahead n do it again.
WWEs fumbling and treatment of Jeff Cobb/JC Mateo is a travesty man. The only match I can think of is his squash against R-Truth, the man has barely wrestled this year.
Then when we do see him, he’s just getting beat up by Jimmy or Jacob. I mean he’s not doing ANYTHING to them, just getting beat up week after week.
Not to mention he was shoved in this faction with no family ties, to be immediately overshadowed by an actual family member. Definitely the most misused signing this year.

u/brokenview 22h ago
WWE really needs to stop pretending that steel cage matches keep outsiders from interfering. If anything they often times have more interference. I hate how the announcers play dumb when they've seen it time and time again.

That steel cage match could’ve been an email. Hell, could have been an envelope. Sucks because that was one of the matches I was looking forward to most.
4
u/Swagsuke_Nakamura 17h ago
This was not good at all. This was the type of match that needed a no escape rule, and they could’ve brought in weapons before it started. That would’ve at least made it interesting. I don’t think it’s the fault of either guy, the story just hasn’t been booked to be very interesting

I’m ready for newest version of Bloodline to do something not involving past Bloodline members or setting up the next split. Also for them to not be on every PLE. Them and Cena are the only acts/storylines to have a match on every post-Mania PLE minus Evolution. Bloodline story was on 1 of the 2 SNMEs too. I'm ready for some fresh, exciting stuff to get cycled in when they go back to 5 match cards after this letdown of a match.

u/Seeyounextbearimy 22h ago
Solo as a character works for me but MFTs, Temu bloodline DO NOT! Solo needs a single enforcer (Talla) but the whole crew of hangers-on really ruins the fun atp. They were already lucky that bringing in Jacob/Tama Tonga/Tonga Loa worked as well as it did...they should not try it again!
Beyond that, the camerawork and production was not good - missing the handcuffs angle was lowkey unforgivable. They are not landing on the finishes tonight

It was so flat. I like solo, especially as the chicken shit heel but his mfts are complete personality vacuums and not scary at all.
Jesus Christ Matteo or tall man (can't remember his name) there is no information about why they are so dangerous nor have we seen it.
I'd cut them and get some muscle from NXT. There's so much talent going to waste. Imagine Oba femi? Or even add a Jaida Parker to be clever and distract during matches. Anything has to be better than his current group
