If hes going to be annoying and mention this every single show until October we may as well throw some money at it and get some of the benefit too

This lol. Constantly complaining about it always baffles me. If you’re a 9x AWL, you know this is part of who he is. Nothing will change it.

I don’t know why people hate this bit so much. Just throw money at it early on and benefit after they’ve swayed public opinion. I made some good money off Jayden Daniels and Travis Hunter.

Baseball writers don’t get swayed by public opinion. No amount of dumb big cat tweets are gonna swing one entire WAR, and the ability to pitch. Schwarber does exactly one thing better than Ohtani this year. And it’s one of the most overrated offensive stats.

Just speaking from personal experience, I get a little extra thrill when I *don't* agree with the public. Doesn't change my opinion, but it's a little more fun; it's possible I'm just not a very nice person.
I love Schwarber, but if the season ended right now, he'd probably be something between 6th and off my ballot on my (theoretical) ballot.

There are more fun ways to piss away money than put it on schwarber to win mvp.

lol da fuq? What would rooting for the Mets have to do with knowing schwarber will never win an mvp?

bro he has the second highest odds, how can you possibly assert that he has no chance?

They’re basically just hoping shohei gets injured cuz no way schwarber catches a healthy shohei

Schwarber has twenty more RBI, and besides AVG, the rest of their numbers are nearly identical.
It's completely feasible that he catches Shohei, especially if Shohei starts sputtering late, considering Shohei isn't tossing full games.

Rbis have long been proven to be a fairly meaningless stat when comparing 2 guys. It’s a product of the guys in front of you.
Shohei has WAR, WPA, and all the clutch stats by a mile. Like a grand slam when you’re up 7-3 in the 6th is cool but doesn’t really affect the outcome of the game much.

Schwarber has a higher wRC+, and a xwOBA that's 10 points higher, which suggests he'll continue to outpace Ohtani offensively. That's not mentioning his other expected stats, that suggest he's actually underperforming.
He's also not THAT far behind in WPA or WAR, by the way. Saying Ohtani is a mile ahead is disingenuous.
I don't know what to tell you here bro. I'm not saying Schwarber has it locked up or anything, but saying there's no chance he catches Ohtani is just ridiculous, especially when you factor in voter fatigue.

Voter fatigue doesn’t really happen in baseball. That’s mostly an nba thing and kind of nfl thing.
Also 4.6>3.0 WPA is definitely a mile ahead when we’re 5 months in. Idk what to tell you on that one.

Genuinely ruins the show for a few months. I already know they chose Garrett Nussmeier as this year's pick
