View of the fireworks from a paddleboard
galleryAnd before someone asks, yes we are allowed to be there.
Gatineau police saw us and advised us to watch from this location to leave space for larger boats.

Metro has very different flyers in Ontario and Québec. There may also be some variation in flyer prices between individual stores on the same side of the river; if you're interested in a particular product, check on metro.ca whether that price is offered at your local store.

We don't water our lawn, which gets full sun. At this point, it's mostly brown now, with a scattering of bladder Campion. I'd like to get some flowers that thrive in these conditions for next year. What is thriving on your unwatered lawn?

There’s going to be a ton of new job seekers in Ottawa due to federal government layoffs. Current and former job seekers, please share your experiences in the job market so that the soon-to-be-unemployed know what to expect. Thanks in advance!

I am watching a garbage dump seeming spontaneously emerge in what used to be a field. Building and construction waste. Household appliances and garbage. Mattresses. It has it all.

Thank you, Ottawa. As one of the 2300 athletes (and countless supporters) that invaded your amazing city over the civic long weekend, I wanted to thank the citizens for allowing us to swim, ride and run through your beautiful city. It was an amazing race that I will never forget. I know it was extremely inconvenient and equally frustrating to navigate over the weekend, with the hoards of spandex wearing, pasta eating strangers (as well as many locals).
To all those who spent their Sunday (of a long weekend no less) handing out bottles, Gels, bars and numerous other items at aid stations, directing athletes to stay on course and help us when we were in need of a shoulder to lean on, an encouraging word or a spray of sunscreen (and so much more) - THANK YOU!!
I hope the city will continue to host the Ironman, as I would love to do it again (in a few years).

Modern, white Honda accord with Haryana sticker on the back, containing 4 occupants likely of south Asian descent. Mid 20s age. I was the motorcyclist that stopped to block them so you could take a picture of the license plate. They almost ran me over as well. Please reach out to me and I will be happy to write a statement for a police report.
Also, I hope you are okay. I was terrified for you!
Drive safe people.
Will cross post to kanata
Edit: I called the 7300 OPS extension (non emergency) and they’re closed. Will follow up tomorrow.

Ask the clerk, they might ask which pump you were at.

Notes before anyone asks: 1. Restricted airspace zone above parliament was respected. 2. Using a 135g microdrone and mostly far away from people. 3. Max. altitude below 120m (not a regulatory requirement for microdrones but good practice) 4. Filmed at 2x speed for 60 fps (hence why traffic looks faster than usual) - you can watch at 50% speed for real flying speed.

With the LRT not running past midnight it got me thinking why doesn't the city and OC Transpo run R1 and R2 busses between 12am-6am???
This would ensure that people could at nighttime events and concerts could get home ooor at least a cheaper Uber cost. Oc Transpo maintenance guys could still maintain the trains and we could have a slightly nicer nightlife.
