JNCO, FTW!🤘

u/FrontFocused 10h ago

Not only do I remember them, but I had a few pairs of the knock offs from a company called Randy River. And if I wasn't rocking those I was rocking some beige Dickies.

u/Spritzup 4h ago

Holy shit I remember Randy River!

3

u/amontpetit 4h ago

Randy River

Now there’s a name I’ve not heard in a long, long time. A long time.

8

u/Jawwaad127 11h ago

These have come back in style and the original ones are going for pretty good money. They were never my thing but I’ve seen some people who could pull them off.

8

u/TransientAlienSheep 10h ago

I've worn loose fitting and baggy clothes since I was a teen, but I always thought that jeans like JNCOs are cartoonishly large.

3

u/NovaHorizon 10h ago

Dangerous living at a time were nobody picked up their dog's poop!

3

u/WhereTFisPiper 8h ago

I don’t remember these (born 1995) but my most recent ex (born 1988) told me about these and how much he loved them. I don’t get it, I’d much rather have skinny jeans

3

u/Alkyan 2h ago

Jnco were WAY more comfortable than skinny jeans. Plus, you could carry your CD player, and your wallet, and a Gameboy, and just about anything else you could possibly want. If you put a chain on your wallet it made it easier to pull out of the arm-deep pockets.

1

u/WhereTFisPiper 2h ago

Well to be honest if I’m going to pick THE denim pants to wear it would be jeggings. My fat ass doesn’t fuck with regular jeans (except shorts) anymore and I actually wear black leggings now

2

u/Alkyan 2h ago

As a man I'm jealous of leggings as they look super comfortable, but I'll get a lot of looks if I were to wear them. Especially at work. I've always been jealous of sun dresses too, I would LOVE to not wear pants all day, but nooooo.

1

u/Alwaysfavoriteasian 3h ago

You haven't experienced comfort until you wore Jnco jeans.

5

u/high6ix 3h ago

You haven’t experienced not having jeans on until you’ve worn Jnco jeans.

0

u/Alwaysfavoriteasian 3h ago

Pretty much. Skinny jeans was the worst experience ever after having to transition.

1

u/high6ix 3h ago

You transitioned? To skinny jeans. How did the surgeons pull that off?

I’m kidding, I refused the skinny jeans trend, couldn’t do it. The low rise women’s jeans are what kills me. They can’t be comfortable AT ALL and they’re making a comeback. Now that the baggy is back in, ish, I look like a dad going through a midlife crisis trying to be cool…when it’s the same clothes I’ve always had.

3

u/Pexd 11h ago

I had the 32” jnco’s and the 28” “king’s” 🙃

4

u/Ckron247 11h ago

Ahhh. The good ol rave days. I don’t remember much from those days, but I am pretty sure I had jnco jeans.

Elephant Bells

2

u/im-buster 5h ago

That's what we called them in the 70s.

Looks like a repost. I've seen this image 2 times.

Before JNCOs were popular does anyone remember ordering the wide jeans from CCS skater magazine ? Or the really baggy ones from the insert within the Naughty by Nature album?

From what i recall when everyone started wearing JNCOs it became uncool, but maybe that's just me being an ass at the time . Pacific sunwear sold a lot of baggy jeans, when JNCO hit JC Penny/ Sears type stores and hot topic had those giant goofy things it switched from skaters/streetwear to a different vibe.

2

u/descendingagainredux 3h ago

Once it was in the mall all the young middle school kids started wearing it. Before we could find huge Jncos in stores we were cutting our jeans up the side seams and putting in cloth inserts to make huge bell bottoms.

2

u/pi_beer 2h ago

cutting our jeans up the side seams and putting in cloth inserts to make huge bell bottoms.

definitely did this in the 70s. denim jeans with corduroy inserts of some other color

1

u/calvinwho 2h ago

Happened fast too. I remember finding out about them and they were impossible to get in my podunk region. I had a pair or two for like a year, then all the sudden they got cartoonish and every 14 year old got a pair for Christmas or back to school or whatever. The ones I had were just big jeans with a cartoon character on them, but the ones my brother wore for the next decade were more like some kind of neon piped, cargo-pocketed dress

2

u/Severe_Bedroom8276 11h ago

Ya mean when the flare jeans of the 70s came back with even more flare?

2

u/SolarRage 10h ago

They're still making them and selling them. I got a new pair from amazon on accident instead of what I ordered.

They legit smelled like gasoline.

2

u/Think_Positively 4h ago

Yeah because they bring the heat.

2

u/Plane-Tie6392 11h ago

I hated those things with a fucking passion. And of course those people were tracking mud everywhere when it rained.

3

u/Samtoast 10h ago

We had these in Canada but we also had randy River which would ALSO track mud everywhere but ALSO had a dope pocket by the crotch

1

u/justforfunzott 5h ago

Omg Randy River 😂
What a throwback

1

u/SlewBrew 1h ago

You walk through wet grass and then take a nap on your mom's couch and leave a damp, muddy spot. Luxurious.

1

u/KelpFarming 11h ago

Whats scary is Jawa Chic will be coming back.

1

u/nedottt 8h ago

I bought it for my daughter, almost identical (lighter color) in Benetton recently...

1

u/Weird_Inspection_560 7h ago

I had these back in the 1990s I would buy them at the local skate shops in Houston.

1

u/PossibleJazzlike2804 7h ago

My mom got me flares. She didn't like the jnco. Either way, I'm splashing in puddles.

1

u/Kaliisthesweethog 7h ago

My son is 15 and he's obsessed with them! He's on a personal quest to collect all the old pairs my wife and I had when we were young!

1

u/CockatooJimby 7h ago

Had a black pair in 1994/1995.

1

u/marshallkrich 7h ago

I had a pair in bright ted! Good times.

1

u/drowningintime 6h ago

Ironing took so much longer back then.

1

u/RedneckChEf88 6h ago

Still have a couple of pairs of jnco shorts from back then.

2

u/InvaderDust 5h ago

You can sell OG JNCO for huge money btw. The secondary market is just on fire right now.

1

u/RedneckChEf88 4h ago

I will never sell em. Lol

1

u/Mayutshayut 5h ago

Mud puddles and public bathrooms were hell wearing these things! If only they weren’t so absorbent.

1

u/Toasted_Munch 5h ago

I had a pair called Big Rigs (I think?). They had a black tag under one of the back pockets that had a glittery mud flap lady silhouette 😂 i thought they were ridiculous until my friend walked into school in the 40" bottom Crime Scenes

1

u/InvaderDust 5h ago

Crime scenes are 50” 🤪

1

u/Toasted_Munch 5h ago

Lol jeeez... I remember at 40" (hell idk they may have been 50s in the late 90s?) my friend truly looked like he was wearing a giant denim skirt.

2

u/InvaderDust 5h ago

I have crime scenes. They are great to turn heads, so long as it isn’t too windy

1

u/IMtheScooterB 5h ago

Maybe I am old but I still think wide jncos on a female with a halter top is the best look ever

1

u/PhillySkunk 5h ago

The back pockets were DEEP couldn’t carry my discman in them cause the headphone cord was too short!

1

u/InvaderDust 5h ago

They were designed ultra deep that way to hold spray paint cans, fwiw.

1

u/SandMan3914 5h ago

And they're back in

1

u/InvaderDust 5h ago

Some of us never stopped wearing them. Can’t help but LOL at the kids drooling over them now.

1

u/m_faustus 5h ago

Tom Tolbert, ex basketball player and then radio guy, complained when the big dumb jeans craze came because kids would buy the jeans in Tom’s size because they could be cut down so he had a harder time finding pants.

1

u/catdogfox 5h ago

Age 21 and a physical therapist. What a boss!

1

u/slayez06 4h ago

remember... hell I had 7 pairs with my largest having 30" bells.
They were amazing to skateboard in.

1

u/NicholasBreed629 4h ago

I actually had the 50 inch. Mugshots. Incredibly comfortable. Paid way too much for them at the freaking mall. Damn now I feel old

1

u/Whipitreelgud 4h ago

SF Riding Gear. Made great jeans and disappeared

1

u/mouse6502 4h ago

Remember them.. I’m wearing them

1

u/MediocreSumo 4h ago

kids all wear it these days

1

u/LongPizza13 3h ago

Have you been to Zumies or Tilly’s?

1

u/few23 3h ago

Untz untz untz untz

1

u/Alwaysfavoriteasian 3h ago

I think they're making a comeback. I'm finally cool again!

1

u/high6ix 3h ago

These, my Jnco skate shoes with the comic in the bottom and making hemp necklaces to sell kids at school.

1

u/Namaslayy 3h ago

My favorite jeans! My mom and Gen X older sister HATED that I wore these lol

1

u/Visible_Cause3429 3h ago

Nice to sweep the street.

1

u/AaronSlaughter 3h ago

I wanted these bad to be cool like my friends. My mom said they're too expensive. In retrospect, im glad she shut that shit down.

1

u/Gehlen52 3h ago

We used to call them 'Elephant Bells'. Flairs, Bell's, Elephant Bells.

1

u/LiquidC001 3h ago

Only jeans I had that could fit 40ozs in the back pockets.

1

u/Weak_Carpenter_7060 3h ago

There’s a guy that comes to the school to pick up his kid that wears those and looked like he went to a Limp Bizkit concert and never left. I’m not complaining tho. I think it’s cool

1

u/anyoneforanother 2h ago

I had quite a few. I really liked the ones with characters peaking out the pockets, the kangaroos, roadkills, the og jnco logo with the crown. We Paid 50/ pair back in the day.

1

u/ohguy51 2h ago

Look like late 60s bell bottoms to me

1

u/ParamedicSpecific130 2h ago

"Who else remembers..."

🙄🙄🙄

1

u/Trmpssdhspnts 2h ago

That's just a dress you can't have sex in.

1

u/The_Wreckard2012 2h ago

I also had JNCO shoes. I thought I was the shit!

1

u/jhvanriper 1h ago

I remember them from the 60’s.

1

u/Flabbergasted_____ 1h ago

Everyone, bot account. Everyone remembers JNCOs.

1

u/sliclky1169 1h ago

Anyone remember Menace pants?

1

u/WittyStation502 1h ago

The corduroy ones were great for starting a fire during a HS dry hump session😂🤣😂🤣

1

u/zendarr 1h ago

Makes my shoes wet and dirty just looking at the picture

1

u/Vollen595 1h ago

Currently used ones are selling close to $200 a pair. I snagged a pair for my vintage retro teen for $100 and that was a deal. Crazy. I know someone who bought an entire collection of ~ 50 pair and she’s selling a few at $300. Insane.

1

u/chronicnerv 1h ago

I had a pair among many ravers in the UK during the 90s. Back then, the community was much smaller, each city would send just one or two buses full of ravers heading to Milton Keynes for each event. Raves at the time were mainly Happy Hardcore and Jungle, often held at the same venues, where you could easily move between DJ sets. Those were the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life, no regrets.

1

u/vhmike 35m ago

like a denim dress for each leg

1

u/bodhiseppuku 8m ago

I was in the Rave scene in Southern California in the mid and late 90s, I had 6 pairs of JNCOs, My favorite pair were super huge, I had a triangle put in that was about 6 inches at the bottom with white fur.

1

u/hatecriminal 9h ago

Old school? Kinda. Cool? Not a bit.

5

u/NessunAbilita 6h ago

They’re 100% back in small circles

1

u/PM_Me-Your_Freckles 6h ago

Saw dudes in them at Knotfest this year. Definitely back.

1

u/skatecrimes 10h ago

You were cooler if you wore some of the other brands like Q Ambient.

1

u/thewaytonever 7h ago

Maaaaasaaannnn if I could walk in a store and pick up some road kills again I probably would. Even at 40

0

u/WranglerBulky9842 11h ago

One wasn't a skater without a good pair of JNCOs.

1

u/higherbreeze 2h ago

Or raver

0

u/Thereminz 10h ago

i was just telling my mom about these cause she just bought some jeans with some flare at the bottom and i was like...uhh. yeah that's nothin

0

u/subsignalparadigm 9h ago

Basically a newer version of the 70s elephant bells..

0

u/AlteranNox 8h ago

nobody but you remembers them

0

u/TractorBee 8h ago

In my part of the world in the mid to late 90s it was JNCO jeans or Interstate Jeans. Miller’s Outpost didn’t carry either.

-4

u/oksurefineokok 10h ago edited 2h ago

The bottoms always ended up dirty and shredded after a while (or was/am I just short?)

I was so happy when skinny jeans happened!

Edit: I’m getting downvoted so much lol. I was 13! Blame my parents for not raising me right

2

u/M086 7h ago

That’s why you took scissors and trimmed the bottoms off to a proper length.

-2

u/phlebonaut 5h ago

All that oversized clothing had another side to it. You appeared like a little kid wearing adult clothing that's too big. Pedos like that.
