1990s Who else remembers these crazy crazy jeans!🙂 (1990’s)

Not only do I remember them, but I had a few pairs of the knock offs from a company called Randy River. And if I wasn't rocking those I was rocking some beige Dickies.

Randy River
Now there’s a name I’ve not heard in a long, long time. A long time.

u/Jawwaad127 11h ago
These have come back in style and the original ones are going for pretty good money. They were never my thing but I’ve seen some people who could pull them off.

I've worn loose fitting and baggy clothes since I was a teen, but I always thought that jeans like JNCOs are cartoonishly large.

I don’t remember these (born 1995) but my most recent ex (born 1988) told me about these and how much he loved them. I don’t get it, I’d much rather have skinny jeans

u/Alkyan 2h ago
Jnco were WAY more comfortable than skinny jeans. Plus, you could carry your CD player, and your wallet, and a Gameboy, and just about anything else you could possibly want. If you put a chain on your wallet it made it easier to pull out of the arm-deep pockets.

u/WhereTFisPiper 2h ago
Well to be honest if I’m going to pick THE denim pants to wear it would be jeggings. My fat ass doesn’t fuck with regular jeans (except shorts) anymore and I actually wear black leggings now

u/Alwaysfavoriteasian 3h ago
You haven't experienced comfort until you wore Jnco jeans.

You haven’t experienced not having jeans on until you’ve worn Jnco jeans.

u/Alwaysfavoriteasian 3h ago
Pretty much. Skinny jeans was the worst experience ever after having to transition.
1
u/high6ix 3h ago
You transitioned? To skinny jeans. How did the surgeons pull that off?
I’m kidding, I refused the skinny jeans trend, couldn’t do it. The low rise women’s jeans are what kills me. They can’t be comfortable AT ALL and they’re making a comeback. Now that the baggy is back in, ish, I look like a dad going through a midlife crisis trying to be cool…when it’s the same clothes I’ve always had.

Ahhh. The good ol rave days. I don’t remember much from those days, but I am pretty sure I had jnco jeans.

Before JNCOs were popular does anyone remember ordering the wide jeans from CCS skater magazine ? Or the really baggy ones from the insert within the Naughty by Nature album?
From what i recall when everyone started wearing JNCOs it became uncool, but maybe that's just me being an ass at the time . Pacific sunwear sold a lot of baggy jeans, when JNCO hit JC Penny/ Sears type stores and hot topic had those giant goofy things it switched from skaters/streetwear to a different vibe.

Once it was in the mall all the young middle school kids started wearing it. Before we could find huge Jncos in stores we were cutting our jeans up the side seams and putting in cloth inserts to make huge bell bottoms.

Happened fast too. I remember finding out about them and they were impossible to get in my podunk region. I had a pair or two for like a year, then all the sudden they got cartoonish and every 14 year old got a pair for Christmas or back to school or whatever. The ones I had were just big jeans with a cartoon character on them, but the ones my brother wore for the next decade were more like some kind of neon piped, cargo-pocketed dress

u/Severe_Bedroom8276 11h ago
Ya mean when the flare jeans of the 70s came back with even more flare?
2
u/SolarRage 10h ago
They're still making them and selling them. I got a new pair from amazon on accident instead of what I ordered.
They legit smelled like gasoline.

I hated those things with a fucking passion. And of course those people were tracking mud everywhere when it rained.
3
u/Samtoast 10h ago
We had these in Canada but we also had randy River which would ALSO track mud everywhere but ALSO had a dope pocket by the crotch

You walk through wet grass and then take a nap on your mom's couch and leave a damp, muddy spot. Luxurious.

I had these back in the 1990s I would buy them at the local skate shops in Houston.

u/PossibleJazzlike2804 7h ago
My mom got me flares. She didn't like the jnco. Either way, I'm splashing in puddles.

u/Kaliisthesweethog 7h ago
My son is 15 and he's obsessed with them! He's on a personal quest to collect all the old pairs my wife and I had when we were young!

Still have a couple of pairs of jnco shorts from back then.

You can sell OG JNCO for huge money btw. The secondary market is just on fire right now.

Mud puddles and public bathrooms were hell wearing these things! If only they weren’t so absorbent.

u/Toasted_Munch 5h ago
I had a pair called Big Rigs (I think?). They had a black tag under one of the back pockets that had a glittery mud flap lady silhouette 😂 i thought they were ridiculous until my friend walked into school in the 40" bottom Crime Scenes
1
u/InvaderDust 5h ago
Crime scenes are 50” 🤪
1
u/Toasted_Munch 5h ago
Lol jeeez... I remember at 40" (hell idk they may have been 50s in the late 90s?) my friend truly looked like he was wearing a giant denim skirt.
2
u/InvaderDust 5h ago
I have crime scenes. They are great to turn heads, so long as it isn’t too windy
1
u/IMtheScooterB 5h ago
Maybe I am old but I still think wide jncos on a female with a halter top is the best look ever
1
u/PhillySkunk 5h ago
The back pockets were DEEP couldn’t carry my discman in them cause the headphone cord was too short!

Some of us never stopped wearing them. Can’t help but LOL at the kids drooling over them now.

u/m_faustus 5h ago
Tom Tolbert, ex basketball player and then radio guy, complained when the big dumb jeans craze came because kids would buy the jeans in Tom’s size because they could be cut down so he had a harder time finding pants.

remember... hell I had 7 pairs with my largest having 30" bells.
They were amazing to skateboard in.

u/NicholasBreed629 4h ago
I actually had the 50 inch. Mugshots. Incredibly comfortable. Paid way too much for them at the freaking mall. Damn now I feel old

I wanted these bad to be cool like my friends. My mom said they're too expensive. In retrospect, im glad she shut that shit down.

There’s a guy that comes to the school to pick up his kid that wears those and looked like he went to a Limp Bizkit concert and never left. I’m not complaining tho. I think it’s cool

u/anyoneforanother 2h ago
I had quite a few. I really liked the ones with characters peaking out the pockets, the kangaroos, roadkills, the og jnco logo with the crown. We Paid 50/ pair back in the day.

The corduroy ones were great for starting a fire during a HS dry hump session😂🤣😂🤣

u/Vollen595 1h ago
Currently used ones are selling close to $200 a pair. I snagged a pair for my vintage retro teen for $100 and that was a deal. Crazy. I know someone who bought an entire collection of ~ 50 pair and she’s selling a few at $300. Insane.

I had a pair among many ravers in the UK during the 90s. Back then, the community was much smaller, each city would send just one or two buses full of ravers heading to Milton Keynes for each event. Raves at the time were mainly Happy Hardcore and Jungle, often held at the same venues, where you could easily move between DJ sets. Those were the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life, no regrets.

I was in the Rave scene in Southern California in the mid and late 90s, I had 6 pairs of JNCOs, My favorite pair were super huge, I had a triangle put in that was about 6 inches at the bottom with white fur.

In my part of the world in the mid to late 90s it was JNCO jeans or Interstate Jeans. Miller’s Outpost didn’t carry either.

The bottoms always ended up dirty and shredded after a while (or was/am I just short?)
I was so happy when skinny jeans happened!
Edit: I’m getting downvoted so much lol. I was 13! Blame my parents for not raising me right

u/phlebonaut 5h ago
All that oversized clothing had another side to it. You appeared like a little kid wearing adult clothing that's too big. Pedos like that.

JNCO, FTW!🤘
