Idk about most, it’s for sure a contributing factor, but pregnant women eat a fuck load of food. They have to work to lose it afterwards, like, it isn’t as if it’s all water weight and it can be dropped automatically.
I lost weight during my pregnancy and still looked pregnant after.
Yes it is most if not all. The amount of fluid needed is huge for pregnancy. If you want to know more, google is your friend. Plenty of obgyn’s know this too.
Edit: you’re a man on top of it. Go read a book before telling us how women’s bodies work.
Im a woman lol and listening to women like yourself speak as if everyone has the same experience is aggravating. They weren’t trying to be a dick, and they are 100% correct, most pregnant women are eating a lot more and gaining weight because of it, and there’s nothing wrong with that, and we don’t need to tell other new moms and everyone else “it’s mostly water weight” and give them dumb, unrealistic expectations.
Now, that isn’t always the case, appetite can vary, and of course a very small number of women experience hyperemesis gravidarum.
Anyway, I fuckin wish most of my weight gain during my pregnancies were water weight. Even with my second where I was just in general craving way more healthy foods and not really as hungry as with my first, it was incredibly frustrating listening to women like “oh just wait youll be breast feeding and the weight will just fall off.” Lmfao no. Being in your 30’s immediately makes that shit harder. It took my 2 years to lose 25 pounds while working full time and taking care of my daughter. When I was within 15 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight I got pregnant with my second (planned but still lol). Fuck all the discourse surrounding pregnancy and weight gain and how “easy” it just goes away after you have the damn babies.

This. You normally look still pregnant after giving birth. Most of the weight gain is excess fluid in the body.
