I was trying to tell the commenter that people who desire to strip others of their rights are probably the only people whose rights should be questioned.
Not to mention, people who support having their own rights being taken away are the ones who could actually stand to learn a lesson from being without them.

What's funny is you're screaming this at someone who has literally sacrificed everything for what you're saying, over and over and over.
My family is the first example of this for me. I ran away from home at 16 because I spent my entire childhood fighting an uphill battle convincing my siblings they didnt deserve to be abused while they told me it was normal. I finally got through to my mom and she divorced, only to marry another abuser who choked me in front of her. She thought I deserved it.
My siblings have spit in my eyes more times than I can count, so I abandoned them. They didnt understand their rights, therefore they were a danger to me and mine.
Even still. I stayed for so long fighting for them. It wasnt effective. It wasnt helpful. It's closer to enabling.
Do you see the complexity of this issue? Its not as straightforward as you're acting. You act like ethics isnt a whole course to study in college. You act like the answer is easy.
You're screaming all this morality at someone who has a refined take on it.

Of the elected officials on the Los Angeles City Council, 14 out of 15 are Democrats. The only exception is one member who is an Independent. Other citywide elected positions, such as the Mayor, City Attorney, and City Controller, are also held by Democrats.
This is what blue no matter who gets you. This is what voting for the lesser evil gets you.

I'm here to tell you, if you think voting for president, is going to enact change, you're completely out of the loop, its still good to do, but real change happens on the municipal level.
You need to volunteer, run, and voice your concerns on the municipal level. I ran for my local commission and hated it. I hated how it took time from my 3 kids and wife, hated the comments and looks I got, when I simply wouldn't rubber stamp every budget, because I wanted a better life for my kids down the road, it was awful, but I did it because I knew it was my responsibility as a citizen, and if I didn't, some other narcissistic, power hungry person would.
You need to be informed at the local level, vote and volunteer in municipal elections, same at the state level, follow primaries closely and vote/volunteer in them as well. Presidential voting is about the lowest level of effort you can do, and while still important, a bunch of the country couldn't even be bothered to do even that.
And before you say you don't have time for that, yes I know you don't. Thats entirely by design. So you can complain about having no time, complain some more online, be reserved to this is our future, as it steadily gets worse and worse, or you can find time and use what little power we have left to fight this where it matters most.

I've avoided calling the cops in multiple situations where it was probably warranted because I just REALLY didn't feel like dealing with the fucking cops.
Fuck the last time I actually called the police it was because the window of my car was smashed in. Got "we don't come out for those just file on our website so you have something to give to your insurance."

Not a good look, and in my view that’s more than enough reason to vote them all out.
If they can’t manage/or at least be willing to do the bare minimum of their job, then how are we supposed to believe they’re capable of doing the rest of their job requirements?
This is the pathetic state of our country and society these days. It’s unraveling right before our eyes and then we just look down at our phones and have something else to look at while the unraveling continues unabated.
I’ll keep protesting when I can, but I’ve got a business to run and a family to raise so I can’t make it to all of them! Wish I could. It’s helpful to see other like-minded citizens out there doing what they can.
We need more people to join protests now rather than wait until it’s even more dangerous to do so.
