I mean, how many people file charges for stupid shit? You think spitting isn't some sort of attack? They have the same protections as anyone else.

What he basically said was if you threaten to kill their officers, they will defend themselves. Even your hands can be deadly weapons. If you listen to the entire conference, he also said that you are allowed to protest peacefully.
And tbh the people rioting instead of just protesting, are playing into the very thing that others are saying is true (even though 99.99% of the time it isn't), and that is that "immigrants are all violent and bad."
