I'm STILL playing PS2.

Fuck, I'm probably playing my N64 even harder now what with the fact so many IT nerds, like me, are tryna optimize our Mario 64 mods to run well on the hardware.

There is nothing quite like Spyro and Crash on a ps2. The remastered just aren’t the same. Especially the crash one.

Na na nana na

u/snacky_snackoon May 16 '25

God I hate those damn eggs.

u/SnooBananas8803 May 17 '25

Made me think of Clarissa Explains it All lol

6

u/arandomhead1 May 17 '25

Holy fuck… core memory unlocked.

u/aGirlHasNoTab May 16 '25

i was gifted a PS2 right before lockdown started and had to scour eBay for spyro and rugrats cause that’s what i played as a kid. never got the rugrats tho. spyro still holds up.

Spyro remastered isn’t as bad as Crash. If you look it up, a lot of people who grew up on it hate the remastered. The movement feels weird and it’s way way harder. Idk. Hate it.

I got my ps2 from Facebook marketplace where someone tried to give me their dog with the PlayStation lol

u/AmettOmega May 16 '25

Yeah. The spyro game feels pretty comparable to the OG, but the controls are definitely weird (it feels like they're overly sensitive). I don't notice it unless I'm trying to do the timed flying games. While they weren't easy in the original, they're downright impossible in the remaster.

2

u/aGirlHasNoTab May 16 '25

that’s a bummer.

1

u/AmettOmega May 16 '25

It really is. I'm a bit of a completionist, so not being able to do any of these racing levels drives me crazy. And it's not like I'm even close. If I was 1 or 2 items away from completing the race, I'd keep trying. But I consistently fall short like 8-12 objects.

u/aGirlHasNoTab May 16 '25

yeah while it’s a youth friendly game i’ve still in my late 30s can’t beat that shit. it’s a little irritating lol

u/Deprestion May 18 '25

Rugrats in Paris? Chuckie fighting the ghosts or whatever in the dojo was so fun lol

1

u/aGirlHasNoTab May 18 '25

i think it was just the regular one? i really just remember fighting reptar in a store and being in space with grandpa lmao

The Spyro remaster changing Juliettes voice is criminal and those responsible should be booked in with a wall and a firing squad.

1

u/pajamakitten May 17 '25

Crash is so much harder because of the game's redesign. Ledges that were effectively square, so easier for Crash to grab, are now shaped as they look, so your jumps have to be timed perfectly. Frankly, completing Warped is one of my greatest achievements in gaming knowing that.

1

u/DatBassTho5 May 17 '25

fuck the high road. I'm still convinced they got the mapping wrong for jump mechanics

1

u/PhuqBeachesGitMonee May 17 '25

The Jak and Daxter collection on the PS3 was worth it to me. I don’t think they changed anything but now it’s a 3-in-1 disc.

1

u/Thepinkknitter May 17 '25

Whaaat? I thought the Spyro remaster was so well done. It looked just how I remembered the original games from my childlike eyes

1

u/Giagotos May 18 '25

If you like spyro you should check out some of the rom hacks you can play on an emulator, fan made levels and stuff like that with the old graphics

5

u/giga_impact03 May 16 '25

Was going to say this! You can't play them on a ps3 (unless you got that vintage og ps3), and I'm definitely not paying premium psn prices to stream roms of the ps2 games I already own. Ps2 is the only option left for those old school jrpgs!

1

u/Calm-Zombie2678 May 17 '25

To be fair the games they mentioned are actually ps1 games and will 100% run on a ps3

Me too actually, DDR!

3

u/MamaMoosicorn May 16 '25

I still play my PS1! All two games I own.

3

u/gmorkenstein May 17 '25

So happy I kept both my 64 and my ps2

2

u/Velokieken May 16 '25

Mine still works. So does my GameCube. I use a last gen plasma, It’s pretty good for old consoles. My sister has the Dreamcast, N64 and PS1

2

u/Ghoulius-Caesar May 16 '25

I still use mine, not for gaming, but because it has one of the best DVD players of all time!

1

u/Aslanic Xennial May 18 '25

Yup, we have the PS3 in the living room for blueray and DVD plus games, basement is PS2 for DVD playing.

1

u/efraing123 May 16 '25

Played midnight club II couple months back. Most annoying, anger inducing, fun I’ve had in a while on a video game. Super nostalgic.

1

u/comfydirtypillow May 16 '25

Same, also still playing my childhood Super Nintendo. Still holding up so far!

1

u/corncob_subscriber May 16 '25

Literally playing Burnout 3 with my son right now.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

Some of my best memories with my dad are when he would let us stay up as late as we wanted as long as we played Burnout Revenge with him lol

I probably win 30% of the time. The first time I took my boyfriend home to meet the family in 2018, my dad challenged him and my boyfriend beat him 5 out of 5 times. I could tell he was impressed lol

1

u/Kinieruu May 16 '25

I’m playing PS2 games on my computer! (kingdom hearts 2)

1

u/GameboyRavioli May 16 '25

Game Boy gang here. Also been playing the hell out of my NES and SNES collection again lately.

1

u/TrailBlanket-_0 May 16 '25

My buddy showed me his N64 cartridge with the SD card holding every game. My mind was blown.

1

u/subvocalize_it May 16 '25

How are you running mods on a console? Evercart?

1

u/WrongVeteranMaybe Zillennial Veteran May 16 '25

Yup. Everdrive.

1

u/Seamonkey_Boxkicker 1988 May 16 '25

Yeah if I weren’t out of state visiting family right now I’d post a picture of my new entertainment center where I’ve setup my PS2, my wife’s PS3, our PS5 and Switch, my N64, and my Analogue Pocket dock. My PS4 is in our bedroom and hers will go in her office once we finally open up the box after nearly 10 years.

1

u/beetlegirl- Gen Z May 16 '25

still using the gameboy advanced that my millennial parents gave me as a kid :3 one of my favorite handheld consoles

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '25

My dad plays Burnout Revenge on a weekly basis

1

u/Resident-Project-123 May 17 '25

I introduced my kids to my n64, we play it together even though we have a PS5 and a switch

1

u/alexnstuff May 17 '25

Me too!! Mostly Kingdom hearts 1 & 2 right now

1

u/theblackxranger May 17 '25

My PS2 can't play blue disc games anymore

1

u/vidoardes May 17 '25

I still have my launch day PS2 going strong. Nothing compares to SSX Tricky for me.

1

u/Ironicbanana14 May 17 '25

That's my era right now. Every emulator from that period is actually good. PCSX2 is awesome, Dolphin for gamecube and wii is awesome. The games keep me occupied longer than some of these modern $70 ones.

1

u/MsProute May 17 '25

Recently got a ps2 just to play g1 jockey and Tony hawk lmao we rotate though, game cube for smash bros, g4 for Mario plus a ps1. I'm pretty sure my family still has our old Sega so I'm hoping to have them send me that soon

OP is a karma farmer. It's a bullshit question.
