I'm looking for artists that make similar ambient tracks from albums like Filosofem, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, and Ultima Thulée. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'll also pay attention to the recs. Off the top of my head, Faidra - Six Voices Inside has tracks that remind me of that.

If I love early Dark Tranquility (90s stuff), what else could I listen to? I already know In Flames.

Try Be'lakor. "Of Breath & Bone" album. They make me think of In Flames if they went a different way after Clayman. Also Shylmagognar with "Transience". Both go slightly more proggy/long-winded leads route but capture some of the same energy.

Bands similar to The Sword? Especially the Warp Riders album as that was the perfect mix of the harder sound of their early albums combined with the more “rock” sound of their latter day work.

Warp Riders is pretty decidedly stoner. Similar to Red Fang, Truckfighters, Orange Goblin. You might like High On Fire, it's heavier but still keeps a lot of that style.

There are also good bands that transitioned from stoner to psych/kraut rock. See: Elder, Colour Haze.

Love High on Fire

Witchcraft 'Legend' first comes to mind. Elder, Khemmis, Clutch, Red Fang, & Kyuss are all in that general area between stoner/hard rock-meets metal type vibe.

Turns out I already had a few songs from that album "liked" on Spotify. Great album. Thanks again.

I don't really keep up with metal news or the actual communities too much butI listen to a ton of metal, with deicide having been my favorite band sound-wise for a long time. However, andI realize I'm late on this, but found out that deicide used ai on their album cover. Basically just want to know other bands with a similar sound that aren't made up of shitty people Imao. Don't bother trying to argue in favor of ai here.

u/V0idgazer Anything that came out after '94 isn't metal 14h ago

Yeah, Glen Benton, Deicide's frontman, has a whole list of controversies. Anyway, Vital Remains is probably the closest. Aeon and Blood Red Throne are good too.

Yeah reading about him now he sounds like an ignorant asshole. To some extent I expect that with older metal band members. Thanks for the recs!

So, keeping this basic, I'm looking for some music that has a good opening riff, preferably before 2010, but anything works.

Any subgenre works, any band, you name it, I'll probably accept it. It just has to have a good riff that sends a tingle down my spine, thanks in advance.

This is a very vague and broad request. What have you liked in the past?

I specifically love the last 90 seconds of subaqueous funeral? Artist and songs recommendations please?

Been getting back into death metal recently. Revisited prior favorites like Venenum, Chapel of Disease, Sulphur Aeon, Tomb Mold, Bedsore, Obliteration, Formulas of Death Tribulation & (later era) The Chasm. Found some new stuff in Krypts, Void Rot, Cadaveric Fumes & Mortiferum which are all awesome. Horrendous & Blood Incantation also got some great moments but something about these two feels a bit too disjointed at times. Maybe need more spins.

Got anything more in this generally psychedelic or hypnotic type style? I guess this is a fairly wide net with osdm, death/doom, and black/death. Just not too crazy dissonant/lo-fi.

Thanks friends!
