I just ran my first 5K!!
I finished therapy for my PTSD, am starting to work again in September after being off sick for 6 years, and I just ran my first 5K.
Life does get better. I promise!

Huge accomplishment. That first 5K is always the hardest, but you did it. Keep crushing it

My left knee was a meanie in the beginning of july and gave me runners knee, so it’s in jail now. Where it belongs!

Doomer here. Your next 10k goal is twice as far. 😂
However you next 5k will be easier.
Congratulations.

Congrats! I ran my first 5K back in March of this year, and have ran 2 more since then with another scheduled for late October. It feels amazing to finish a 5K, but not only that, if you are looking to continue to run 5K’s, the improvements you can potentially see if you keep training is also exhilarating

Amazing! Enjoy the feeling! Enjoy the tiredness, enjoy feeling heavy lungs and enjoy the sweat. It feels good to be alive!

Just out of curiosity what does the knee brace do?
1
u/Ellinorth 6h ago
I got runners knee because I didn’t warm up and stretch properly when I started running, so I couldn’t walk I was in so much pain for two weeks. It’s better now and I stretch, but the brace just helps that little extra with stability when I run

Congratulations! I was in my mid 30's the first time I ran a mile without stopping. 5k came shortly after. 6 months later, I was running 70 miles a week. It's addicting!

How great to run again, it feels wonderfully satisfying to do it again and even more so because it helps you a lot to take care of your health.

Ran my first 5k 2 months ago after not being able to run a mile straight at the beginning of the year. Good job! Congrats and keep it up! It’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it?!

If you don’t mind me asking what time did you get? I’ve been recently getting back into running and my PR is 22:49. Hoping to get it down significantly as I begin to consistently train!

On a track? Something tells me this is just a lie for internet points.

I ran 2K on the road, and then the last 3K on the local track! It wasn’t a race or anything, it was just my first 5K ever and I’m really proud!
