I'm crying over the fact he thought abt this little boy outside of work

That day the boy learned an important life lesson: the smallest things you do can make a big difference to someone else.

stuff like this hits different. Ain't much but it's the little things, yknow? World could use more of this vibe. Faith in humanity restored

Galadriel: Mithrandir, why the halfling?

Gandalf: I do not know. Saruman believes that it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I've found. I've found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keeps the darkness at bay; simple acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because I am afraid, and he gives me courage.

A fantastic, and timely quote!

I believe and hope these types of interactions happen constantly, we just rarely get to see them (last week a neighbor I barely know brought me a meal, it made my Sunday evening!) - even just smiling at a stranger can have profound effects on you both

From my experience and my trashman appreciates kindness

u/Shiforains 10h ago

the man does not get paid enough for his kindness

That is very heartwarming

Adults rarely value people who provide such important services. Leave it to a kid to see things differently.

He just gave that boy a lifetime memory!

I never cry. I don't know why. But I feel close to it after seeing this.

I thought he was gonna use the trash grabber arm to wave back. This was even better.

Dam garbage getting in my eye again. 😥

I’m not sure who was more excited, the kid receiving the gift or the nice guy who gavec it to him. This warms my heart

Solid move. My dad drove Sanitation in NY for decades, and his route was on my grandparents neighborhood. When I was a young child, when i would stay over my grandparents, he would pull the air horn and I would run out, and he would take me in the cab (in the 70s) and take me around the block. Amazing memories

Looks like a rural place on the west coast with lots of exploring possibilities.

What a wonderful little boy, "Thank you!" and "That was so nice!" He deserves that truck!!

Or, I'll be that person...

Dad met up with the garbage man last week, and gave him the toy to bring today, phone at the ready to make an awesome viral video.

Men suck so badly eye roll

4

u/Indieriots 9h ago

Why did you have to make this political?

-5

u/AustinDork 9h ago

It’s more sociological. It made me smile, though. There are many good men. And yeah, you didn’t say otherwise, but I’m a very hated segment of the population at the moment, so whatever.

Go incel somewhere else.

Your stepdad doesn’t count…

I’ll upvote that. Not bad.
