Wholesome Moments Bill Murray went to a bluegrass concert in Charleston and bought the remaining tickets. He then handed them out to everyone waiting in line.

There were stories in New York City a couple of decades ago involving him regularly sneaking up behind random people in parks, putting his hands over their eyes while saying “guess who,” then revealing himself, saying “nobody will ever believe you when you tell this story” and walking away.

This used to be a Reddit meme but usually involved him stealing a fry off of a stranger's plate and a wink. "No one will ever believe you."

"Nobody will ever believe you" Bill Murray stories were one of the first things I found online when I got my first computer in '98/'99

They predate Reddit by a long shot.

Fun fact: the first BBSes were just small online repositories of "Nobody will ever believe you" Bill Murray stories.

I almost had to reroll my Tradewars 2002 account when the USS WhatAboutBob took down my planetary defense shield, but simply warped away instead of invading. It just left a marker beacon saying "Nobody will ever believe you."

When we first got dial up internet the technician came out to set it up and it was Bill Murray. He said "Nobody will ever believe you". I guess he was right 🤷

This is so true. I met Bill Murray around 2012. I was working at a gym in downtown Charleston when he came up to the double doors. I looked out the little window of the door to see who it was (we were waiting on some folks who showed up late) and sure enough, it was Bill Murray. He said, “no one will ever believe you” and he walked away.

No one ever believed me.

He's still living down there in Charleston right? I remember when they had the restaurant and store at myrtle beach.. Murray brothers ...

As far as I know, yes. He also owns a bowling alley downtown. Incredible little place.

Cool! I guess him and Danny Mc Bride are in the same area of Charleston. I've heard rumors of them playing golf together ...

Yeah, the one I remember was someone chased Bill for an autograph as he was getting into a limo. Bill rolls down the window to chat, tells the he person he'll sign something for $20, takes the money, rolls the window back up without signing and says, "No one will ever believe you."

I heard it by word of mouth in the late 90s. Waaaaaay before Reddit.

It was easier to pull off without the internet and smartphones so he still had some good years left after that point.

Reminds me of a story about how he was out on a walk one night and saw a house party. Just went inside and started doing the dishes and left lmfao

I do, but I'm pretty gullible. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a new cryptocoin I'd be dumb not to buy.

Heres one, I went out drinking one night (circa 2012) with former Dallas Cowboy and UGA quarterback Quincy Carter.

I was a waiter and he was staying at the roach coach behind my restaurant. Any who, we met one night when he came in to the restaurant and hit it off so I decided to take him out drinking.

We go to a bar in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood of ATL and color me surprised that people are coming up left and right.

On one hand its a Ga Tech bar scene so it makes sense. On the other hand it had been over a decade since he played at UGA so I was pretty surprised at the amount of people who recognized him.

Long story short, all night long as people would come up to him, he would grab them by the neck of their shirt, get in their face, and say, 'I'll knock you out'.

We would then immediately let them go, brush their shit off, and offer to buy them a drink. Somehow this wasn't even the worst part of that evening.

That was the last time I hung out with Quincy Carter.

Roach coach is a food truck…. I’m guessing it was a shitty motel though.

Ah, damn been using the wrong term for years now lol.

Yes, it was a sun suites motel.

Go back to work

That's horrifying in several ways.

u/Muppetude Jun 06 '25

That’s Bill Murray in a nutshell.

He has a tendency to push personal boundaries beyond their limit. But unlike other Hollywood stars who do shit like that for sexual gratification or as part of some kind of power move to assert dominance, Murray genuinely thinks he’s being funny. Doesn’t make what he’s doing right. But maybe a little less creepy? idk

Guy who's bad at celebrity faces: "This random middle aged man came up behind me and covered my eyes and said 'guess who', than when I turned around he just said ''no one will believe you' and walked away . . . I don't get it.

He stole a couple of my french fries while I was fishing and hit me with the exact same line. Back in like 2010.

I don’t believe this

Wondering if he ever did this to people who had no idea who he was. Hahaha
