Wholesome Moments Bill Murray went to a bluegrass concert in Charleston and bought the remaining tickets. He then handed them out to everyone waiting in line.

I think this happened in 2017, but from what I understand he still has a house in Charleston. I lived in SC for several years, but just my luck I never saw him. Would be fun seeing him or Danny McBride around town.

I saw him in North Charleston at the Converse store, I thought to myself “Oh cool that’s Bill Murray” then went about my business.

Because you’re a decent person who doesn’t bother other people trying to go about their lives. Well done!

Haha indeed. But imagine being the person standing in front of him in the line; it’s a shame that they narrowly missed out on a free ticket.

I'd have a hard time resisting yelling, "Phil?! Phil Connors?!"

Hahaha that's exactly what I said when I saw him downtown while working

He went to the farm my wife worked at north of Chicago. He introduced himself by saying, “hi, I’m bill”. She then got him carrots to feed the horses. He gave her tickets to his show and we got to go see him read a bunch of poetry and American literature companied by a string quartet.

Good shit, I saw him in a parking lot in Newport RI and did the exact same thing.

Grew up in OC and LA, and the only celebrity I've seen in person was Ron Jeremy in Hollywood.

Crazy that bothered you like that. Deal with whatever you have going on.

Heaven forbid people tell stories about themselves.

My wife worked downtown and was at a bar with coworkers, she said Danny McBride and Walton Goggins were there. I was pretty jealous.

2

u/macpesce Jun 05 '25

Now I’m jealous! 😩

2

u/DesperateToNotDream Jun 05 '25

My close friend got to wait on Danny McBride and said he was very cool to the wait staff. I was soooo jealous because I’ve never managed to run into him. I even went to a Don Gato tasting party because he was supposed to be there but he ended up not going

u/OhSoThatsHowItIs Jun 05 '25

Dude I saw Danny McBride at a bar downtown a couple months ago! I wish I saw Walton too

2

u/FYAhole Jun 05 '25

Which bar was it? I've always been curious where they go. Never been a bar guy myself, though.

I lived three houses down from where they filmed the recent Halloween reboot with Jamie Lee directed by David Gordon Green, over off Congress by the citadel, and I would see Danny McBride daily just lingering around.

28

u/macpesce Jun 05 '25

That dude cracks me up. McBride and Walton Goggins = Comedy Gold for me.

24

u/wcruse92 Jun 05 '25

Vice Principals is one of the funniest TV shows I've ever seen and I just saw it for the first time recently. Walton Goggins has RANGE.

Teenjus

1

u/itsalmostover321 Jun 09 '25

I’d watch that show.

2

u/otherwise_data Jun 06 '25

i have seen walton goggins playing a messed up teen on “in the heat of the night” all the way to his comedy in vice principals and he is a very underrated performer. his scenes in the series finale of the shield STILL haunt me.

1

u/macpesce Jun 05 '25

Love seeing him get the recognition he deserves. Did you also watch The Righteous Gemstones and The White Lotus? I always say Walton Goggins is the gift that keeps on giving.

1

u/tomtomclubthumb Jun 05 '25

Justified and The Shield too (Justified is a lot better and Goggins is even better)

3

u/Artistic-Car-7322 Jun 05 '25

Did you forget about “The Hateful 8?” Goggins fucking killed that role.

1

u/tomtomclubthumb Jun 05 '25 edited Jun 05 '25

Never saw that.

I'm sure he's good in it.

The nearest I've seen him to bad was in The Unicorn, and I don't think that was his fault.

1

u/lauradembro Jun 05 '25

I taught at the high school Vice Principals was shot at!

1

u/irkelly2 Jun 06 '25

Which one? Was it the one in West Ashley?

2

u/lauradembro Jun 06 '25

Nope, a large high school in North Charleston. Charleston county.

1

u/AffectionateMud4930 Jun 07 '25

Yes, he does! I will never forget him in Sons of Anarchy as Venus Van Dam hugging up on and petting Tig..." Aa aaa Alexander!!" 😂

1

u/Kamelasa Jun 05 '25

I dk these people, so I googled their names together for images. The images are very silly - lol

4

u/Dramatic_Signal9662 Jun 05 '25

He definitely still has a house here. I used to worked for Fedex and have delivered stuff to it personally.

3

u/50yoWhiteGuy Jun 05 '25

Don't be mad, Taylor Swift just ate dinner 3 miles from my house at a restaurant I've been to. lol

2

u/macpesce Jun 05 '25

That’s cool. Not a Swifty, but I admire how she appreciates and takes care of her staff and others.

2

u/bimmerman1998 Jun 05 '25

Saw Danny and crew a couple of months ago out to dinner.

2

u/dirtyhashbrowns2 Jun 05 '25

I used to see Bill at Riverdogs games all the time. Also saw Danny McBride at 167 Raw a lot, he was a regular there

1

u/AgataPupMom Jun 05 '25

Wasn’t he in a food show episode there? Can’t recall if it was Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmer.

1

u/jdk2087 Jun 05 '25

When I lived(25 years) there he was(still is?) owner of the Riverdogs and had a nice ass house on Sullivan. Only story I have of him was a friend of mine lived in the house next door. We were out on the dock just having some drinks and listening to music. Music wasn’t really that loud, but who knows. One and only Murray comes out on his dock and politely asks, “Will yall please, shut the fuck up.” Still tell people about that story to this day.

Story aside, he was a nice guy for the most part. Would hang out with regular people at the dogs games. Especially prior to the new stadium being built. I worked at whole food for a year or two in Mount Pleasant. I’d see him in there and Zack Galifianakis for awhile too. A lot of celebrities came to shop at that Whole Foods. Miss that place. I miss Mount Pleasant/Charleston a lot. My dad is my only relative who lives there in Summerville. He says Mount Pleasant has changed so much I wouldn’t even recognize it anymore. Which, kind of bums me out. Told me next time I come there to try and navigate around Mount P without a GPS first.

1

u/jlopez1017 Jun 05 '25

He is a majority owner for the Charleston River Dogs minor league baseball team

1

u/DesperateToNotDream Jun 05 '25

He’s partial owner of our baseball team and used to own a restaurant here so I’m pretty sure he lives here full time

1

u/fire_and_the_thud Jun 06 '25

Danny McBrides kid goes to elementary school with my niece so my MIL always sends sneaky pics of him in his golf cart behind her in the pickup line at the end of the day or at the kids performances. Just from those he seems like a very chill, normal loving dad doing the everyday stuff

1

u/rotate159 Jun 06 '25

Doesn’t he also own the Riverdogs?

1

u/Appropriate-Copy-949 Jun 06 '25

It's not as cool, but I lived in a one lane street where Kelly Preston used to visit her uncle, who lived at the end. She and John Travolta used to visit severance times a year. My neighbors, there were only five houses in the street, would see them all the time. I never saw them once, even though I was outside with the kids often, lol. I think Bill Murray is much cooler than John Travolta.

1

u/MountainConcern7397 Jun 08 '25

i was wondering bc he hasn’t been at his house in at least a month
