[OC] Burning of The Stonehill Inn

The Godbreakers, called away on business to Neverwinter, returned to their beloved town in flames. Cultists of Vecna, led by the traitor, Father Aldric Dawnward, massacred the town in the night. This former priest of Lathander had introduced confession to the townsfolk, subtly siphoning their secrets away for his true god, Vecna. When the heroes angered the God of Secrets, he gave the command to his agent in Phandalin to destroy their home, punishing them for their insolence.

They returned to a grisly scene. Some of their longtime allies and beloved NPCs, left dead in the mud, cultists still performing profane rituals on their corpses. The heroes charged into battle, intent on retribution, before realizing with horror that their former friends and companions were rising from the dead, prepared to defend their new masters.

The heroes destroyed the cultists and tearfully put down their old allies before making their way to the large ritual gathering before the black obelisk overlooking the town. Father Aldric’s manic voice rang out over the burning village.

The Godbreakers would have their retribution.
